As a German main I can confirm I have nightmares with the jumbo Edit: I just unlocked the jumbo and it slaps

tip for dealing with kv-85's and kv-122's: on the hull sides just below the turret, there is a decently sized 45mm plate that can be penned by just about everything at that br and lower (works when said kv tank attempts to angle, in the process exposing those weakspots).

I’m gonna be honest, your experience with the jumbo’s armor is wildly different from mine. People usually go straight through the hull mg port.

3:39 - back when the Jumbo was...what? 4.3? I played it with nothing but APCR. Shooting each enemy was like surgically removing every single component and crew member, but boy was it fun. Also, hull breaking M10's with APCR was hilarious.

A beautiful lil' guy. Definitely where my love for heavy tanks started. Even if the cannon is underpowered for where it fights, being able to actuallt tank shots is just so good.

Day 7: You should play any of th cv90 they have good moblity and a powerful 40mm cannon along with having apfds as starting rounds plus it has he-vt

Yeah I agree that the field upgrade kit would be a good add-on, and while I'm against adding Premiums, I'm shocked they never added the Thunderbolt VII as a premium. It's the add on armor kit one but commanded by the guy the Abrams is named after.

I love how spookston just shoots the T-34-85s barrel staright down the middle and is just casual.

One of the key strat with the jumbo is to smoke the hell out of target that are over range. You play as bait, draw fire, blind the ennemy and lead the team to break the front at close range.

i really love how the jumbo didn't really feel like a heavy when you drive it, the gun handle great and it move fast and responsively, what a great piece of kit

There's a bug exactly on the sherman 75 right now (there could be more, idk) that basically overpressures tanks by shooting where the turret and cannon is connected, which is an absolutely ridiculous bug. You should maybe check

I'm wondering if Gaijin will ever add the Palmaria SPH for Italy, as they've been on a mid to top tier SPH binge lately. Or something completely out of left field they could add is the Sabiex HIFV. Made in & most likely for use by the UAE, it's an OF-40 Mk. 2 chassis with the turret of the BMP-3.

For those who didn’t know, the KV122…..pretty anything that shares the IS1/IS2 type head has a weak cupola. The US low velocity 75mm can be pen their cupola and fragment downward into the crew.

Why does no one take smoke shells with the jumbo?? Like seriously the Jumbo with Smoke shells is absurdly good because you can blind anyone and stop people from shooting at you till you get closer. Edit: 13:35 YES!

Jumbo is the ultimate brawler. It can take a hit and keep throwing out punches to disable everything in its field of view, and it's mobile enough to get around the battlefield faster than most heavies. It getting constantly up-tiered (can't wait until the 76mm Jumbo is 6.7 next) is proof Gaijin doesn't understand that German and Russian players will always lose to a stabilized 75mm if they can't just straight up penetrate its armor and kill it in one shot. They had to make even the 75mm version fight King Tigers, because Germans just want to delete it from existence with the long 88mm, and Gaijin thinks that's balanced.

You should do a video on the pt76B it has a stabiliser and night vision at 5.3

I always get full uptiers in the jumbo so my experience I it went from great to not so great. So now I only play my M41A1 Update: just took the Jumbo out and immediately got a full uptier against Germany

You should use the Sturer Emil at a 5.0-6.0 BR. It performs really well at that tier

When I started playing War Thunder back in 2017, I went down the American tree first because I just spun a wheel on what I would play. Got to the M4A1 (with the 75) and got stuck on it for ages. When I got the 76 version, I didn't do much better. However, once I got the Jumbo, I started doing much better (despite going down in caliber for the gun), and now, thanks to all the br changes, I really enjoy playing it, something that was very difficult for me to do back then because only sometimes the armor would uphold against the opposition, and the gun wasn't exactly reliable either (Never could seem to get close enough to shoot where I could pen, or get a different angle). There are still things I don't enjoy fighting with the Jumbo, and I'm still kinda careful with it, but overall it's one of my favorite tanks in the game, and if I had to be honest, for a new player in today's War Thunder matches, I feel the Jumbo is slightly forgiving to new/bad players. But, just knowing how to position yourself and where to go in general on each map, knowing how to use your armor effectively (especially hiding that MG port), and finally just a small bit of knowledge about what might be problematic to fight is enough to give you a decent Jumbo game.

I find there are a lot of players who play the Jumbo almost exclusively. Guys who have been playing a 6 months to a year gravitate towards it because of its ability to tank shells, but that ability only exists against players of similar skill level. That makes the Jumbo very trollable for experienced players who know how to kill it. The go-to, of course, is the hull machine gun gap. Then there is the cupola. The corners of the transmission by the track can be penned easily. If they're at a slight angle, you can shoot under the front armor plate on the upper glacis by aiming around the drive wheel. That shot usually goes right into their ammo. The trickier shot to make is between the mantlet and the hull. If you hit the mantlet just right, you can trap shoot em through the roof of the hull. Works best with 88's. 40mm spaa can pick a jumbo apart easily. The Leopard doea it best though. The stabilizer gives the leopard the edge over the Jumbo, especially if you have surprise, which is easily with the leopards speed. Just dont take long because he can 50 you to death, unless hes a total noob and forgets about his 50. You can literally one-shot a Jumbo frontally with Leopard spaa through the machine gun.

The Jerman Shumbo, I mean, the Sherman Jumbo, is one of my favorite lower tier heavy tanks of the US tech tree. I have both the tech tree and premium version, and I recall one match on the Eastern Europe map where we were losing and I whipped out the Cobra King and made a solo push into the enemy B cap, took out four or five enemies (plus main gunned an enemy aircraft) and won my team the game after they tried to push and camp our spawn. Another match I had was the Sands of Sinai map with the ruined structure at the top of the hill; a Skirmish match. I was rocking it with the M18 with four or five kills before I got gotted, and I tried to use my regular Shermans to no avail. Eventually I got my Jumbos out and tried to salvage the match with just two other people left versus a team of five or six enemies left. One of my self-proclaimed rivals were two players with the German KV-1 with the long-barreled 75 mm. I had such a hard time with those things even with APCR and a faster reload. At one point I sacrificed myself so that a Sherman Firefly could come up behind one of the KVs and end it. I mistakenly switched to a plane and we ended up losing, but it was a good match. Oh the cobra king is fantastic, one of my favourite vehicles to play 100% (great in sim too). It’s the only vehicle I’ve ever got a nuke in whilst in a top uptier (and it wasn’t even my first spawn!), it’s just so unfathomably good

The jumbo got me through the American focus tree and is probably on of the funnest tanks to play in general, that being said, please play the M4 Tipo-IC and feel the pain of solid shot on a bad chassis :)

The cobra king, blackcat and M36 make such a potent 5.7 lineup.

I finished my entire german ground forces tech tree recently and went for america, got the T14 back in like november(amazing tank) and I just rushed the jumbo and I dont regret it, its so much fun

This is very good timing this video. Played 2 matches in the Jumbo this morning. Got a nuke in one, but ticket bleed went brr so couldn't drop (6.7 match) and enough SP for a nuke in the second (6.0).

It's all fun and games until you come up to a German main who knows what he's doing (Shoots mg port/aim for the side)

What i do with most of my shermand and sherman offshoots is to cover the engine deck with bushes. I think it looks cool and on maps with plants it slightly obscures me from planes, and it doesn't feel scummy like covering the whole ass front with bushes

KV-1s with big turrets have a weakspot at each side that is ~30mm to expand the turret ring to fit the turret - it can be penned even if they angle slightly.

I honestly never understood most german players hating on the Jumbo because as a german main myself i found them pretty easy to kill. Yes it requires aiming but if you use the same tracking tactic against them, they are sitting ducks as they have to either expose their side, the MG or just corner shoot them. The annoying part is the back of the turret which is as thick as the front so its annoying when you bounce from it. Also hehe Nashorn go boom!

the jumbo sherman came about cause the us army needed a heavily armored breakthrough tank but did not have any available and would not get the m26 pershing which was originally classified as a heavy tank till near the end of ww2

The reloading speed is insane good for close and medium battles

I miss when the jumbo was a 4.7, that thing was just a MENACE to deal with. Back in the day the Cobra King was my first Ace'd crew, grinded out simply due to how much I played it. So much fun. This was back before gaijin fucked up the ammo though, so if you wanted to pen anything heavy you brought a LOT of solid shot with you. I almost never used the APHE in it.

Fun fact; Jumbo is not an offical Sherman nickname, it was coined by a model company some time after the war.

I enjoy fighting the jumbo, it’s a challenge cause for once in a long time I have to aim for a weak spot instead of mindless point and click long 88. It’s a great tank due to its ability to tank damage.

Might just be me, because i just unlocked the Jumbo, but i think that's where the constant disadvantage USA Has on lower tiers kind of starts to dim, from having weak guns and bad armor to having good armor, to later get both good sides on about mid-tier 4

Pro tip: bring smoke with the Jumbo. It makes moving around the map much easier, and you can actually protect yourself against Panthers, King Tigers, Soviet 122mm, etc.

The jumbo's damage models are kinda broken because everything punches through that first plate and gets blocked by the second, making it look like a penetration.
