It's particularly aggravating in news and current events. how false information now gets accompanied with visuals that lead people to validate it as true more easily. It's a whole different, and largely unexplored layer of the effects of utterances meant to normalize dehumanization and antagonistic attitudes now having a bias-confirming visual. There's real danger in that.

Actually a silver lining here. Swift could get a court ruling which can used as precedent. Pro Bono lawyers are way more likely to take cases if there is precedent so it could be the opportunity for all those targeted by the ai generated stuff to get it taken down. It's terrible that it's happening to so many but there's a chance the system could be forced to work for the people.

So tired of this AI mess. I’m a visual artist and was hit hard with AI “Art” from the beginning, with the nonconsensual scraping of artwork and data. And when our community voiced concerns we were dismissed and now it’s gotten so much worse and worse. Hopefully more people understand and help push for data and labor rights. The fact that these companies can steal all of our data and use it without anyone’s consent is insane!!!!! Hopefully all these companies get held accountable.

@lasagnahog7695 it is mostly an humorous statement but it has basis in generative AI and its legal implications for copyright (and other topics) being very fresh. Lawsuits on generated content have started to appear so we are waiting on clearer precedents to be decided by the courts.
There’s also a higher standard for her legally because she’s a public figure. Essentially, celebrities have to meet a much higher evidentiary burden in court (compared to the average person) when they sue for defamation. Courts reason that, by being in the public eye, celebrities have basically waived the right to sue in these cases, unless they can prove the false statements were super egregious/intentional/harmful/verifiably untrue.
It's also of note that Taylor would never say who she wants you to vote for. She states her beliefs, she states who she personally plans to vote for, but she never tells her audience who to vote for. Instead, she urges people to register to vote and make informed decisions when casting their vote. That's it. Although it's not surprising that the conservative party feels threatened by more people registering to vote.

The misinformation is just disgusting. And that's not even factoring in the unethical use of AI images of a non-consenting artist. The political campaigns are more protected than artists' autonomy of their own images and messages.
