Fun bits missing in this documentary: When IWillDominate got banned, Imaqtpie was also about to get banned, but Scarra convinced Riot that QT was autistic, in order for him to escape the ban hammer. Allegedly Digs worlds run was sabotaged by Dyrus who leaked Digs strats to the opposition. After underperforming in Top lane, Dignitas wanted to cut KiwiKid but QTpie convinced them to instead move him to the support role. Scarra retired because he felt he couldnt perform at the top level anymore. QTpie retired because the LCS and Dig moved into a more "serious" direction and QTpie only wanted to play with "friends" while being on a competitive team.

I mean on the second point, it's not much alleged about it. Dyrus did leak the strats and you can see the enemy team in dig's game pinging out their early game jungle pathing before they do it iirc. DIG probably weren't going to win the whole worlds run but leaking strats certainly had an effect.

The thing I love about the old version of Dignitas, is that they were a group of friends that played league together, and coincidentally were really good at it. They were always joking around, having fun, which made league itself look like a fun game as well. They were what most people who play league want to accomplish, being great at the game while also having tons of fun doing so.

thats what old generation esports was all about, man. you get some friends together and just see how far you can go. there was a time where it wasnt a solo adventure. people who didnt live it/see it will never understand how special the start of esports was. i am so lucky to have a father who was connected to it when i was young and i got to see all these evolutions from the world championship being held in smokey basements in front of 10 people to packing out stadiums to watch cs or league. it was a special amazing time. i am so PROUD of where esports is today, and i pray for it to have a long healthy life and become intertwined with society like tradational sports. but i will always miss the start. you had to be there to really understand why so many 40 year old men still get emotional when they see a classic SpawN clip today lol. it was truely a different time.

@matthewfernandez82
@matthewfernandez82 4 года назад
I'm super new to league, like level 25, but i could instantly tell that league's community seems alot less fun loving and way more sweaty than even other esports titles, like rainbow six siege, and csgo. like toxic teammates even in norm who think they know the perfect way to play and anything but has to be scolded. I can't say you see that behavior in any other game nearly as often. In a game like siege i could probably get my team to go full recruit and rush with shields in ranked, probably even higher ranked like plat if i got a good team. i don't think i could get a similarly stupid play even in norm in league. i haven't really played much tho so maybe lower ranks are just toxic
@zoroark522
@zoroark522 4 года назад
@@Drewzdev It's been like this for a long time where if you try to have fun in league, someone will just play the current most overpowered champion because this game is now more fun to win than play and Riot balances on what makes money. Next game you do, go mid and start dancing. 99.9% the enemy will try their hardest to kill you instead of dancing with you.

Its fascinating how League as a whole went from "Hey Guys let's play some", just filling in all the roles and then basically doing anything and winning like 100$ to this incredibly competitive game with insanely high prize pools and teams, who are mainly focused on the game 16 hours a day or sth. Regarding the whole losing later in the season: Alot of great players and teams do this when theyre just a great team but dont adapt to what's around them. If you lose early youre forced to adapt or die, youre not really forced to do so if you do well. I think this becomes doubly clear when you mention that the management of Dig was poor; It is often the management or team captains job to look at other teams and counter them. If they didnt, Dig could only keep doing their best while being countered by teams forced into a corner. Also, thanks for a great video!

It was so much fun to watch them play as a team and also individually on stream. Each one of the original players had such a nice personality, that you couldn't do anything but like them and root for them.

I grew up watching EU and NA LCS, I've been watching this since TPA smashed worlds in s02. And man i couldn't hold my tears when you started talking at 1:01:25.. There was no one who would be involved in Esports and hate this team.They were the brightest team ever who would bring joy and smiles to everyone and i'll hold the memory of those days forever in my heart

The best part about all of these Docs is Gbay makes you FEEL like you lived through it. I really wish I was playing league at the time to follow this team, being a fan of all their old players, post Pro careers.

Gbay, I'm glad to have finally come back and started watching your videos like this. I was an avid viewer back in Season 5 and 6 and loved the content you made, specifically stuff like this where you talked about the history and sides of things that I never got to experience, having only started playing League in Season 4, and not paying attention to competitive till Worlds of that year. However, I stopped playing League as much towards the end of Season 6 and beginning of Season 7 and especially stopped watching your content when you focused on the Road to Diamond stuff, since it was like all League youtubers started making that same kind of content and clickbait and stream highlights and it stopped being interesting. However, I've started getting back into League more and ended up watching your G2 video and this one and I was really happy to see you had returned to making quality informational content again. Your videos are fantastic and I can confidently say, even if I stop playing League again, I'll keep watching your videos.

I just love your LoL documentaries, seriously. Myself being Italian, Esports is a thing I only experienced way too late. I know most of the people you mentioned because of twitch/youtube, I knew they were pros back in the days but this was just amazing to discover and it’s all thanks to you and your beautiful storytelling. I love you man, keep it up!!!

Game 2 vs CLG in the regional finals was one of the first competitive League games I watched, and oh boy did it have an impact on me. I was a Dignitas fan for a very long time because of that game. Thanks for the video - it's great to see a lot of the history that I missed out on.

We were so proud of Rock Solid back then (we latin americans didn’t have a server yet, not even BR, we all played on NA with 150ms) and to think Naryt was going “Pro” without having an official server was HUGE for us. He was representing Argentina and LAS like no other.

I really love how in good old days some specific champions and roles for them were off-meta and now new players don't even know about what was then. I'm not that old of a gamer, but when I started playing league in 2019, I remember seeing Jax in the jungle a lot more often than on top, and now I see people calling this off-meta. And I really love bringing some of the champions to their old roles. Played Maokai and Nautilus in jungle and had great success with em, I remember playing Brand mid before he got his mini rework that made him more successful at that role. I really love seeing how good old meta changed!
