Which God? U Greek got so many God that I got confused with the Hindus superheroes and mixed up with the Tiong Hua (that's just Chinese to me and u) demi Gods.... they even have God of Gamblers😂
@@princesssolace4337 what a dumb comment 😂. I hope you didnt think that your comment was funny or insulting. That would be so embarrassing 😂. Cringe central station.
That sounds very much like the Romanian Super League. Or maybe like every other Balkan League :)) We are true brothers in everything, you have to love our way of doing things :))
The 2022/23 season in greek football deserves an emmy nominated series. Polish referees sent back after being accused of being drunk the night of their arrival, goalposts being 7cm shorter in Atromitos-Aek, Marinakis attacking Mitsotakis' goverment after a last minute controversial penalty of Panathinaikos. The greatest league on earth
The second division didn’t even start until November over a dispute; I believe over player wages/working conditions (if someone more knowledgeable could clarify/correct me that would be great)
Some of this seems overblown. If you order Polish referees, they won't come sober as standard, that is an extra option you pay for. I'd be curious to hear about the 7cm shorter goalposts though, seems like a fascinating story. Presumably Mitsotakis is a Pana supporter?
Can we hear about the drunk polish reds please, I work with a bunch of poles that would love to hear that story. The goal posts sounds like a fun story too
We don't follow the Greek superleague for the football, we're here for the drama. It's like a fine Tv show that you tune in every week not knowing what is going to happen. Maybe the polish referees brought in for the AEK - Aris match will turn up drunk and go on the run or maybe a club owner will put out a statement containing elementary school style insults towards EPO. We live in a surreal country anyways so our football is a fine representation of that
People from western Europe only care about the outcome of a game or who played better. They don't understand the beauty of dirty referees, political connections, illegal betting, teams that are secretly controlled by bigger teams within the same league, owners who spent time in prison, owners who carry guns in the stadium, owners who are in the drug trade and the oil trade with russia and so many other beautiful happenings and then at last the performance of the teams on the football pitch. The best league in the world!!!
So western Europe is white people and they come from nords 🇸🇪🇩🇰🇳🇴 Germany🇩🇪, Britain 🇬🇧 Netherlands 🇳🇱 Switzerland 🇨🇭, Belgium 🇧🇪 and Austria 🇦🇹 There's the Latin people from Spain 🇪🇸, Portugal 🇵🇹, France 🇫🇷 and italy 🇮🇹 There's balkans people from Greece 🇬🇷, Albania 🇦🇱 Bosnia 🇧🇦, Bulgaria 🇧🇬, Montenegro 🇲🇪, North Macedonia 🇲🇰 and Turkiye 🇹🇷 The slavic people are from Croatia 🇭🇷 Slovenia 🇸🇮 Slovakia 🇸🇰 Czech Republic 🇨🇿 Serbia 🇷🇸 Poland 🇵🇱 and the Baltics 🇱🇻 🇱🇹 🇪🇪 The only confusing ones are Hungary 🇭🇺 Romania 🇷🇴 and Finland 🇫🇮
This is what was supposed to be happening here as well, but some corrupted rich individuals pretty much control the entire league, which means things aren't going to be peaceful unless some big guy intervenes to try and salvage the situation.
I will never forget how Olympiacos would always have such random players on their roster, Rivaldo, Roy Carroll, Olof Mellberg, Colin Kazim-Richards and Lomana LuaLua to name a few
As a Greek I have to congratulate you on the presentation of the facts. This season more than any other has been a shitfest of epic proportions due to the actions of all presidents of Greek teams, with Marinakis and Karapapas who you both mention leading the charge of outrageous official statements. A thing you forgot to mention, one of them in the long list of things that have happened this year, is that Dimitris Melissanidis, the president of eventual champions AEK FC, invited all presidents of the "Big 6" to come to the unveiling of their new stadium which happened this year. Most of them sent representatives however Marinakis not only decided to decline the invitation but took it a step further officially responding that he wouldn't appear because he would remind the fans of AEK of all their losses against him which was seen as at least petty by most fans. Ultras in Greece also don't express the majority of fans, they just express whatever is in their best interest with most of them at this point acting as private armies financed by the clubs presidents which has led to a lot of football associated attacks, the most dire one being the death of Alkis Kabanos, which didn't change much when it comes to their actions since that incident as plenty of football associated encounters. It has gotten so bad that EPO in their efffort to find a location for the Cup Final got rejected by plenty of cities even abroad due to the cities not wanting to deal with the hooligans of both teams and the damages they would cause. If Amazon Prime ever sees this comment, please create an All or Nothing type of show following the Greek presidents and the meetings that happen. I promise you it's going to be amazing content
This video is interesting but lacking important information: 1) The ultras are paid by a club's owner, and they basically act as their gang, so their sentiment does not represent true football fans. 2) Kamara signing was quite suspicious for money laundering (not the player's fault), because Aris FC is considered Olympiacos B. 3) Marinakis has an impeding illegal drug shipping case, where 10 witnesses are dead and yet he moves freely (no time to explain the terrible background for the rest of owners). 4) Marinakis has family ties with current PM, with a big broadcasting channel. His opinions affect Greece a lot 5) He is currently elected as city councillor in Piraeus. 6) Olympiakos was always a club with marquee signings and a lot of managerial changes, it isn't unique to the current regime.
I just unsub from Tifo. I always loved them, but recently they are making a lot of videos that are missing MANY key points and seems rushed. Quality dropped a lot and it's sad to see...
@@raffaeledesantis8261 Pretty harsh. I do agree that they've transitioned to shorter videos, which obviously don't have the breadth they used to, which I admit has me less engaged. With them dropping their podcast essentially as well, I'm a little unsure what direction they're heading in.
There is no dirtiest club in Greece than Olympiakos and what Marinakis has done. For this year, that Olympiakos have a mediocre team, he is complaining about referees. Whenever that happens every football fan in Greece can't stop laughing. The guy is the Escobar of Greece
Well sead. I am Scottish but with Greek blood in me I follow P.A.O.K. Anything that is negative as regards Olympiakos is good for Greek club football in my view. Come on P.A.O.K Fight & win. It is not easy to watch The Greek Super League here in Scotland we just get the Nova Sport games it's like getting half a story the other clubs games you need a VPN to access it s a pain to be honest. Greek club football has many problems Olympiakos being the biggest one of them all.
Yes and everyone else is a saint. It takes a great deal of stupidity to accuse one team of dirty practices when the abundance of teams are equally as shady. But yeah "we're the good ones, they're the bad ones", not that everyone is corrupted
Mind you, Marinakis is also the president of the Greek super league. The corruption in Greek football is on a different level and I don't know how UEFA hasn't suspended activities here and banned us from taking part in European football.
The big-4 of Greek Superleague are Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, AEK, and PAOK. Their owners Marinakis, Alafuzos, ship owner and media companies tyccons ,Melisanidis also ship owner accused of fuel smuggling, Savvidis greek-Russian enterpreneuer with close ties to Russian Goverment, are all wealthy businessmen using football in order to recruit armies of people eager to defend them or just launder money. None of them care about football but mostly for non-football things. Olympiacos is considered the most succesful football team in Greece while under various owners has historically been accused of winning a lot of its domestic titles by corrupting or thretening refs and players. To be fair the 2nd most Succesful team PAO has also been accused of thretening refs by his previous owner family.
Paok and Ivan Savvidis are not guilty tho. All 3 championships and all 8 Greek cups were fair without paid refs. The only team in Greece complaining about refereeing bias in a PAOK derby is Aris fc. But it's only them and a bunch of braindead Athenians that belong to P.O.K., a former (and still somewhat present) alliance of the "big three", Panathinaikos, Olympiacos and AEK.
It's very funny to me that olympiacos nonsense has gone worldwide. But this year in Greece we had a great league campaign. 2 teams were head to head for 95% of the season. We try to focus more to that than to Marinakis stupid actions.
Olympiacos supports are so delusional. They were fixing matches for years, and when their bad practices catch up with them, they cry foul? The league will be PAO vs AEK for the next 3-5 years.
Olympiacos had won 5 straight league titles in the years before marinakis arrived 2005-2009 And had made it past the ucl group stages twice in that period as well they were certainly nowhere and I would argue they are in a far worse spot now
I'm an Olympiakos fan, this year was extremely disappointing, very poor management and planning, a lot of reckless spending, much comparable to Chelsea this season. The team never trusted the process with any coach and they just ditched them when things got slightly difficult. I wish this season provided a valuable lesson for our team and Marinakis and I hope they realize their wrongs and work on them from now on... But who am I kidding... Almost every year it's the same...
Yes exactly.. the club is managed very badly. A lot of bad transfers were made and it seems like every year it gets worse. They have no any idea what they are doing. First time in my life I did not watched all matches, not even some European matches. Every year its the same and it only disappoints me
an important piece of background information is that Olympiacos under the Marinakis regime was repeatedly accused of (and found guilty of) bribing referees, corruption, and generally instilling an almost totalitarian rule in the super league where everyone knew of their crimes and yet no one could speak up. The 2015 Greek Football Scandal is centered around that. So to all greek fans the complaints of Olympiacos now become extremely laughable, considering they were always the team that was favoured by EPO.
To have a better view to the Greek League we have to keep a track on these behind the scenes methods and the accusations of rigged games in the past. From middle '90s with Kokkalis dynasty(president, before Marinakis), Olympiacos won almost every league in Greece with some exceptations all these years. But they were accused for rigged games, paid referees offside or not offside goals for the opponents. Truth to be said, Marinakis is not the only oligarch that has such a toxic behaviour there are othes like from all 5-6 bigger teams in the League that they have the same behaviour. They behave like they own everything. With balkan mafia style. But as I see it this happens and in a lot of other leagues even more superior than it's the Greek now. From Potugal to Italy and Spain. The problem of football it's all these owners and their money. Also, this year was a good one for the Greek League because it was very antagonistic and competitive till the end with match thrillers but in Europe it was a totally disaster. And in the past 20 years only Panathinaikos and Olympiacos did good curses for teams with these budgets in Europe. As for Olympiacos this year was a totally disaster that's why the only responsible for that is trying this methods.
u mean that olympiacos with world class players won the league by paying the refs? Are u kidding me. The 22/23 league was the most dirty. Look at how many pens aek and pao had. Look tha they both won each other with pens. Look the hlgts of Oly-Aek 1-3 and Aek paok 4-0. No red card???Kopse tis malakies
Surprised to see such a video in one of the best football channels in RU-vid, also surprised to see so many fellow Greeks in the comments, showing the worldwide audience of the channel. PS. Save the podcast
it becomes better when u hear that the favorite for the coaching job is Gatusso. Hopefully we will bounce back to where we were 3 years ago, playing great football even in Europe. Till then we are in the mud. At least our basketball team is competing for the European trophy this weekend
Mate there are some other stuff going on in Greek super League. I don't blame you for not knowing nevertheless you just cared about football and only. But just to know things start back in 2004 (maybe even earlier on 1999) when AEK Athens was forced to destroy their stadium due to financially problems. But due to the Olympics ( 2004 held in Greece) the government gave on AEK Athens the permission to rebuild their stadium with the difference that it would be able to host the games and that the stadium would be in dept for 99 years . Back then, where Marinakis and the Greek government where REALLY CLOSE FRIENDS, in just a single night (!!!!!!!) somehow AEK Athens permission to build a stadium was taken and was given to Olympiacos. But unfortunately the stadium of AEK Athens was already destroyed. On these 10 years a lot have happen like pens outside the box... offside which weren't offside.... ( If you search for this years in Greece you will find a lot more like these which years in Greece are named days of Paraga) . This year of 2023 AEK Athens new stadium (OPAP ARENA) construction finished and the team finally got their home back. In their first match on the new stadium Olympiacos lost 3-1 with the first goal being scored after only 5 minutes of play. To sum up Greek football is not what it seems. They tried the same thing with other Greek teams like Panathinaikos. But fortunately he didn't fell into the trap. Now AEK Athens every Sunday fulfill its stadium with 33.000 fans ( AEK Athens fans...) As you can imagine it is really big power for the team. They wanted only the money of champions league (because in Greek super League only the first position gets a ticket to the third round of champions league). So in order to do it with the most easy way (and not spend much money) they tried to destroy off field their big rivals. ( If you read until the end mate respect)
That is the same guy who, along with Ivan savvidis (paok owner) destroyed my club because it would not collaborate with them in their dirty ways. IRAKLIS FC salonica is the only club worldwide that has been relegated THREE TIMES for reasons NOT related to our league position but none related to it. Iraklis is the cleanest club in Greece that represents equality and sportmanship. *Iraklis way of life*
Although i think that Iraklis is the cleanest club in Greece. I think the most unfair relegation was Olympiakos Volos in 2011. The club was relegated purely because the corruption of bigger clubs.
The greek league has been a brothel for most years. As long as the mafia-chairmen remain in greeks top clubs like Marinakis, Melisanidis, Savvidis, Alafouzos, Beos, the league won't get better. They themselves don't let league get better.
Threats actually started on the derby panathinaikos olympiacos which resulted in a 1-1 draw due to a last minute penalty for panathinaikos. There was controversy because at first both player and manager michel at first said that was a stupid mistake from the player even though the penalty itself was controversial itself. With olympiacos threatening theey could leave the league and possibly joining the league of cyprus. In the end it was words in the air. Nothing happened.
Btw, Olympiakos is by far the most toxic team in the league. For anyone interested, AEK won the league,Olympiakos finished 3rd after a few good results in the final games
As a forest fan, Marinakis has been brilliant for us. We did sign a lot of players over the summer, and a lot of people talk about that negatively, but it's brilliant to have an owner who backs the manager so much as Marinakis does.
This guy by the way, is the main responsible for the downfall of the Greek Super League. He was accused numerous of bribing the referees to his advantage with decisions that are extremely biased and everyone can see. When his vice president was asked about it, he replied to the other teams "Build a team that can also beat the referees". Meaning, "if you got the guts, build a team that can beat us and the referees that we pay". And the one season he does not have a great team, he complains about referees.
I´ve been following the greek league for years, mainly due to ultras groups because I like it. This particular guy is the main reason why greek football is in crisis for a long time. In the last 23 years olympiakos won almost every season and almost all the times because of corruption. It´s a bit hypocrital that this guy complains about referee decisions and sh** like that when he´s the president of a corrupt institution
You missing SO MANY POINTS it's almost like you didn't try. What about the ultras paid by him, what about the two tons of heroine that was found on his ships, what about the 10 killed witnesses, what about his channel of propaganda
A few insights by a local: The foreign refs' didn't work, and they couldn't have worked There are at least 2-3 competing ummm... factions vying for control of the football association and the refs. The state is scared and never does anything. The feud between Marinakis and Baltakos is at least in part motivated by politics: they are affiliated with different wings of the ruling ΝΔ party in Greece. Marinakis' rhetoric grew much more belligerent after some EU grants did not go his way As an Olympiacos fan I have to say I detest Marinakis for soooo many reasons
Speaking of Greek football, it would be worth making a video a about the Rise and Fall of Panathinaikos FC, the only Greek club to have ever reached a European Final. From the days of competing among the big boys in Europe to financial mismanagement, the departure of Giannis Vardinogiannis in late 2011 and the controversial ownership of the club under Giannis Alafouzos while also being disqualified by UEFA in 2018 from participating in European competitions due to breaching financial fair play and yet the club started to look up under Ivan Jovanovic (the man responsible for APOEL Nicosia’s infamous run to the Champions League Quarter-Finals in 2011-12) where they managed to win the Greek Cup in 2021-22 and only fell just short of winning the Greek league this season.
Regardless of how he's viewed at Olympiakos, we love him at Forest. Supported the club both financially and structurally, has allowed Steve Cooper to get on with management (but not been too distant), has given to the local community of Nottingham - a great man.
@@TheAdamwalters lol, no prob. Its actually Hakan Sukur, and Tifo explained the reason why he's cancelled on his own nation in detail, its quite political as well so that's probably why
Watching spineless performance at home after spineless performance at home (consistently losing 3-0 and 4-0 to average clubs) and yet seeing the club board blame everything but themselves has made this season the worst shitshow I have ever witnessed as a fan. Hope things improve and we actually start acting like a big club starting in the summer because in some home games this season it was actually toxic
I find it so funny that a team that have won 10 league titles out of the last 13 is suddenly blaming the referees for their recent bad results 😂. I guess when you're used to consistent succes, you get deludet into thinking that the players and/or the manager have no fault when you have a bad season. It must be exterior factors.
Soooo we're just gonna totally ignore the fact that the big man waddled on to the pitch carrying a gun? Just gonna let that slide? Not worth mentioning? At all? Right?
I am an Olympiakos fan since birth, but the things that Marinakis and co did this season are beyond logic. And i will say no more. But if some foreign friends who dont know nothing about Greek Superleague and want to find out more about the cringiest series in Europe, you are wellcome to our world. How is PL, Bundesliga, or La liga organized? Well think of exactly the opposite! What a mess men!!
oh yessssssssssss! our favourite regime club! they have been having the greek football federation twerking at them for the past 20 years, they had one match where the refs were against them and they threatened to leave the league! they were more than welcome to! this league full of football, political intrigue and mafia-like actions! this league has gone down the goddamn drain and it wont stop until this league actually becomes about football and not politics! like when will it stop?!
You know it never fails to surprise me that even though fans of the Greek Superleague are declining and stop caring about their teams and what so ever bigger scandals are breaking about EPO every single time. I truly think that in 5 to 6 years less than a million of people will watch the league. Bad football and even worst background will eventually destroy the game.
These past four years, Olympiacos won 3 out of 4 league titles, with 15-20 point difference. Just saying.... If there is a conspiracy against them, it is not working out well.
