they should keep them as separate leagues but with the same rules and have a xfl vs usfl championship game like the nfl vs afl back in the early years of the super bowl before the merger.
I like this idea, but I don't know if they can keep them separate since there will only be eight teams, with 10 games each you'd have to face each division/conference rival 3-4 times, which could get boring.
Yeah, kind of, but you gotta take the good and the bad, it is still something I always watch because I grew up with it, and you have those high highs when you do good. Also, going to NFL games is the most electric experience I've ever had.
Well, it's not like it was a generally unique guess, the USFL teams were confirmed by their player association by then, though I didn't guess the Gamblers would rebrand to the roughnecks back then. Of course the XFL teams that survived were generally the most popular ones attendance wise, still wish the Sea Dragons survived though.
@@Eccentric_Dodo I loved the sea dragons uniforms. Most sports uniforms are red, blue, black and white. Orange and Green was a nice change. I'm really going to miss the vipers designs as well.
@@clixzygames2946 Hey, this was a few weeks ago, before it was all confirmed, but the Roughnecks are confirmed to be coming back with the Gamblers staff and players. This whole video was speculation since I wanted to get my thoughts out.
The XFL should've just stayed with the old team names from the very 1st season. Las Vega Posse, and San Franciso demons along with the Los Angeles Extreme were really good teams - IMO.
I doubt it because the new XFL seems to avoid the original league as much as possible. I wish they had the Los Angeles Extreme over the LA Wildcats. But for expansion in the future, I think they will probably bring back all the current XFL and USFL teams back first if possible. After that, I see former '80s USFL teams coming back since FOX owns the rights to most, if not all the former USFL teams from the original league
The original team names were decently good, but I think they were way too wrestley if that makes sense. More focus on violence than an identity, and I don't think average football fans would resonate as well.
Unless the rivalry aspect of it (XFL v USFL) really brings em out. I don’t see this league making it. It’s already too much the XFL way. Which lost 60 million. So next year they lose at least 80 million and fold. XFaiL fans will never learn.
I can see that happening, but with one united league it definitely gives them the best chances. I kind of hope they don't fail, just because it makes good sports in the spring.
@@Eccentric_Dodo I don’t think spring ball will make it anymore. Ratings were low for both leagues last year. And now they have alienated even more of the fan base by shutting down so many teams. It’s not a merger. This is BS. I’ll see how I feel by March 30 though. Lol 😂
@@Mike-aka747 fair enough, and I definitely see how this guts the team aspects, but even if they stayed split they'd be goners, at least they're pulling their resources now.
Two things, one, I’m a Brahmas fan so this news is comforting, and two, why would you get rid of the roughnecks but keep the gamblers, personally I would prefer the better Houston team play, on the other hand, the roughnecks won’t be able to hurt me anymore
Really political for football, but I think it isn't really that, more that a want for a third professional football team in LA just doesn't exist. If you think about where these UFL teams really succeed; Birmingham, San Antonio, St. Louis, Arlington, etc.. Those teams are in cities without professional teams already, the exceptions being like D.C. and Houston who's current NFL team either kinda sucks or has recently sucked. St. Louis is especially passionate for the Battlehawks since the Rams left, add all of it together and just nobody really cares about setting up an LA team, if anything I'd expect more support for a team in San Diego, who's old NFL team left for LA. Sorry for the really long response lol.
@@Eccentric_Dodo When you set up a team in a state or city you have to consider 2 things first, 1- attendance value and 2- laws of those cities or states and who controls them. Blue states are ran piss poorly right now and add a huge risk to any investors in those states. California for example has had multiple major banks close, dozens of major businesses relocate and are loosing 2 million people a year that are fleeing the state. The state is a disaster right now and its because its ran by communists.
Philadelphia should change their name and logo to another... From the Stars to the Vultures, or the Gryphons... Philadelphia Gryphons, or Philadelphia Vultures.
I get why you might say this, and a lot for the XFL side is rumored, but the USFL teams moving forward are confirmed via the player association. I get that rumors can sometimes give out false hopes, but while we don't have confirmations it is the best info we know from sources like players which leak information as mentioned in the video. To be honest I didn't expect this video to get this large, I've just been fascinated by the merger since it was announced, and wanted to talk about what it may look like. I apologize if I bolstered any confusion.
They could rebound, but for that to happen the new league needs to succeed, which is kind of why I made this video. I'm definitely not a big youtuber, but anything to help keep the sparks of interest up!
I understand dropping teams but come on. Go to at least 10 teams. Then in two years add 2 more. I personally would stride for 16 teams within the next 10 years.
@@Eccentric_Dodo cant be when they have tv deals. I think they knew it wasnt gonna work with two spring leagues. Having one makes it easier to succeed. I do agree they need to have 10 to 12 teams at some point. 8 is too small
Certainly, but they have been bringing in less money then they're putting out, a lot of it from some of these non successful teams. Also probably partially due to the USFL's old hub model, doesn't resonate with the home city fans if you only play hundreds of miles away.
I get that, the teams near me are being closed according to the USFLPA, but it's not impossible for the Vipers return! Like I said geographic concerns are huge, and having a team west of Texas would go a long way for the league in that regional audience. Of course none of the XFL teams have been confirmed by a PA that I'm aware of, so it's not fully out of the question!
