Man it’s so hard to watch paul williams considering how much pain he had to withstand just to preform for us. his contribution to the temptations is severely underappreciated. Rip Paul Williams. May your legacy live forever.
RIP David Ruffin (1941-1991) RIP Eddie Kendrick (1939-1992) RIP Dennis Edwards (1943-2018) RIP Paul Williams (1939-1973) And RIP Melvin Franklin (1942-1995)
@@jonathanclary3992 it's around fellows, it's just harder identify and pick out from all the white noise and Auto-Tune I don't know about you but that s*** drives me nuts
Dennis Edwards had some huge shoes to fill and I have to say he was the perfect replacement for David Ruffin. Dennis had a great and dynamic voice and he fit in with the group tight like a glove. RIP to all of them that have passed on.
I will even contend that Dennis Edwards ushered the Temptations into the "soul" era in a way that David Ruffin might not have been able to. Edwards was more int he Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett vein that was really coming into vogue in the late-60's. David Ruffin is more in the Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson vein that was passing away. The timing was perfect.
Lmao.. true. The left doesn't come right out and say it though. They've got a program for everything (on OUR dime.) Where does all that money actually go, anyway? 😂
No it was not. They were just speaking on the current situation that were occuring at that time. Things that are occuring now may be new to this generation but Its nothing new, just new to this generation.
It's an amazing transition and perfect timing that the Temptations changed from a smooth love song style group with David Ruffin to a more psychedelic and politically edged group with Dennis Edwards. Both incarnations had several huge hits.
Miming? I believe they were live- I know that record backwards and forwards but I could be wrong. In any event, that performance was unreal. I loved it.
Rapping before rap hit the scene in the late 70s and 80s. The Temptations, Pigmeat Markham, James Brown, Blowfly, Dolemite, and many others were rapping long before we youngins touched the mic. Godspeed! Rap on!
Dennis kicked the door in as a new member of the Temptations. Some of us were leery of how could they replace a talent as big as David, but, man, Dennis fit in so well, especially, for the times and him being younger than them. It always amazed me how The Temptations got the right voices for their group, but, also, the way they all lined up to be close to the same height and size. It made for a striking appearance on stage.
The Temptations are iconic, and legendary! This song still is relevant today! R.I.P. Paul Williams, Eddie Kendricks, Melvin Franklin, Dennis Edwards, And David Ruffin!!
Wow I will be 54 this summer and I have photographic flash memories at 2 when my family would play this song over and over that same summer with Mama told me not to come and Get ready cause here I come by Rare Earth. The following Christmas after that summer they came out with Jeremiah was a bullfrog (Joy to the world). These are the very 1st songs I can remember in my life. Too young to remember but flash like remember very well photographically and I got excited from that 60,s hype older people talk about all the time. Sometimes I get a charge and get carried away when I here these old songs like I,m doing now.
@@donotneed2250 class of '71 here 😁 it was a tumultuous time to grow up but the music was spectacular no matter what genre you enjoyed, ranging from rock, R&B, pop, to country and beyond. 🙂
Segregation, determination, demonstration, integration Aggravation, humiliation, obligation to my nation - Ball of confusion Oh yeah, that's what the world is today
#1: Dennis Edwards was a fine thing in his day, and this video illustrates that clearly. #2: Poor Paul Williams. Whatever he went through, you can tell he was going through it at this time. You can see that he was in his last days with the Tempts. He's barely picking up his leg when they kick during the choreography.
He actually missed his spin the first time. His turns weren't sharp. He's half a measure behind on most of the steps. It's noticeable. But he was the man at the time. Singer, and group choreographer (early on at least).
Good Morning Facts. Paul's sickle cell anemia was really flairing up during this time and to ease the pain he drank more than ever. Many in the group didn't know he had the disease due to him not wanting pity and keeping parts of his life private. Paul loved performing and he wasn't going to allow anything from keeping him off the stage until his doctor found a spot on his liver
Released in 1970, The Temptations used the term "rap" repeatedly in their song. The style of delivery can be recognized as rap by many. This song was an incredibly innovative and a quite brilliant predecessor to much of the music that followed. It's level of stunning lyrical creativity makes it one of my top 3 songs of ALL TIME...in my book. And it is still relevant today. I believe that Ball of Confusion was the pinnacle achievement of the Motown Era of Rock & Roll.
A timeless record, the fact that things haven’t changed, is even more telling about this messed up system. Vote! Hopefully things change for the better for all people everywhere.
The temptin' Temptations were nothin' but the truth!! A snippet of my childhood preserved for posterity. And, would you take a look at those beautiful, manicured 'fros!!! I remember this song had us thinkin' things couldn't get any worse at that time. Well, sadly, they have! Thanks for sharing this precious bit of musical history.
One of my favourite tunes by any artist - simply classic song, vocals & production. Legend has it that Norman Whitfield was inspired to write the melody after hearing The Guess Who ‘American Woman’ - listen to that track and it all makes sense.
The Temptations: since a boy I have always loved these guys. Their talent was as enormous as their contributions to America's soundtrack and cultural enrichment. As a teenager I even got the opportunity to meet Melvin Franklin too-what a gentleman. Pure class.
I love watching the Temps. They were so talented and fun. As a kid I was always fascinated with the one with the deep voice. I know now his name is Melvin Franklin also known as Blue.
You can tell he's not as precise as the others. He's half a step behind the others, and he missed his left face on the first dance break. To be in that condition, though, he gave his best effort.
This will always be relevant and these men gave their all to the music. Thank you to all of the temps throughout the ages for helping every generation enjoy your music
@@DrVonNostrand he wasn't on this performance tho. This was a part of a Smokie Robinson special. He was starting to have sickle cell issues more by this time. The whole special he did great look it up. He danced his ass off
@@DrVonNostrand he had demons like we all do but in this performance he wasn't drink mate. Sickle cell cause you to be off . Look at the special. The man danced fine. Otis has noted this is around the time his Sickle cell started to get the best of him
I am listening to this song, November 10, 2020. I was a teenager in Junior High School when this song came out. The world today is in a Ball of Confusion. Help us oh Lord.😢
