We Boomers and GenXers lived in a Truly Remarkable Time for Cinematography! I mean the late 70s, 80s and 90s was a Golden Era! And yes! We had PLENTY of diversity! With Women and Ethnic Minorities having key roles in lots of movies! And the only ones who would bat their eyelids at that, were the retarded bigots! But now??? Now the Left is just as hinged on this crap as the Far Right! And the film industry, as well as other forms of media, has suffered! Greatly!!! As a result!

Terminator 2 is the best for obvious reasons I do love it but.. I definitely love 1984 premise of just horror and suspense. I love how the terminator used to just be terrifying. @@rfcfanj7911 Terminator 1; has that unique rare charm. Like horror action suspense mixed in one storyline and I just love the classic 80s vibe. And I love how someone from the future is willing to just risk his life just to save the woman he loves. Two people who don't belong in the same timeline. But they have the most deep and impossible love story. That's also a nice reason to love the original first movie it just makes the whole premise more incredible and tense.

Yeah, I had exact same feeling when watching Jurassic Park and Jurassic World. In the first trilogy tyrannosaurs and spinosaurus were scary as hell cause they were real. Actor emotions were more believable cause they saw what's coming. Not a green puppet without any texture, or nothing in worse cases, but a dinosaur. I think we are half there, there is topic in AI field particular called Deep Learning, which in nutshell means the algorithm can learn on it's own, depending how much data available it have. So if we made some robots, for example than can shoot, by it's time he can learn how to do it more accurate etc, but most of that depend how much available data it have, and if for the robot those data are enough to rationalize if here makes mistake in shooting or not. Depending from the data the robot can be total failure or something that u are afraid to challenge.

If the stop motion had been a little smoother, it would have been even more convincing. The scare factor was pretty much eliminated in future films since you can't really convey that same "first time fear" across several sequels. Kind of in the same vein as the aliens chest bursting, once you've seen it, you've seen it. The T-1000 was the next most threatening entity after the original T-800, but after that they were just beating a dead horse.

The movie was filmed only a few years after robots were invented. Back then, people thought robots were the future, while here in the factory the Terminator showed us how ironic that was.

The horror tone of the original is what is sadly missed in the sequels, with the exception of t2, which had the perfect balance, hence its success. Anything after that went too far down the scifi or even comedy route.

In the old Hollywood there was only a few studio whom were able to make this type of movie set. This robot was made from real metal, which made him fully realistic , but it was extremely hard to get move it. In 1983-4 when this movie was made, the budget of the special effects was relatively low, less than a million dollar, (whole movie was 6.4 million)but in the cinemas, the viewers loved them. In the early 80'-s, Los angeles was extremely dangerous, Cameron always wanted to shoot nightime in order to keep the cost low. Schwarzenegger used to walk around in the city most dangerous parts to study the gangs and the spirit of the city for this movie.

This was the most terrifying scene of the entire franchise, an ingredient none of the subsequent films could replicate. Interesting that a single stick of dynamite blew apart this T-800....whereas in subsequent films like Salvation...T-800s took M-79 grenade rounds (undoubtedly with more explosive charge than just TNT) smack in the face, and it barely phased them. I think the creative team on Salvation dropped the ball and should've kept this in mind. Just another detail showing this film and the second one were miles ahead of anything later in the series.

The movement of the Terminator is sometimes not smooth but despite that the film is still good to watch even after all these years. This film is now a classic, vintage, heritage, & so many other good things. There was a period in the 90s when I mistakenly thought that with the advent of new, modern, hi-tech, CGI, visual effects, etc these old films will become redundant or not worth revisiting. Big misunderstanding on my part. Old films are in fact a window of the past that cannot be recreated. It is priceless. Those looks, feel, sights, sounds, can't be recreated. Nothing can take its place. These movies are gold. Nostalgia !

If you think this is good you should read the fan made code lyoko story Xanna and Humanity VS Skynet and The Terminators that see's Jeremies and Aleita's time travelling twins Erin and Erina persuade Xanna and The Lyoko Warriors to work together against Skynet A Mutual Enemy, the 1st 4 Chapters take place in a alternate universe where Xanna rallies The Lyoko Warriors children against Skynet and after they win Xanna is allowed to rule over humanity, but you might want to read Saving Our Future first because its a bit of a prequel due to the fact that Jeremies and Aleita's time travelling twins Erina and Erina stop Xanna taking over the earth and even destroy Xanna, but sadly no one knew that in the original timeline it was Xanna that destroyed Skynet, so by taking out Xanna Skynet had no opposition
