I feel like Akuma was a unfinished character for Tekken X Street Fighter which has YET to ever come out and Akuma being in Tekken is a test to see how Street Fighter characters would look and play on the Tekken engine.

In Akuma's defense, the way his character is designed, I feel like his backstory of wanting only to fight strong characters can easily fit into any and ALL fighting games as a guest character into the plot in some way. I would have honestly LOVED to see Akuma as a stand alone character in Smash Brothers, as his own character and not a echo of Ryu and Ken as well, with a way more unique play style and even in Mortal Kombat, where the Raging demon finisher would be a proper visible fatality.

Akuma in the main event of the Tekken 7 storyline is one I can remember. Akuma fighting Heihachi Mishima and Kazuya Mishima is incredible considering Akuma waited for them to get stronger hence keeping his code of only fighting and killing opponents that can match up to him. The debate of the Dark Hado and the Devil Gene still remains. Now I want Tekken 8 to have a battle between the Devil Gene and the Blood Riot State(Orochi) from KOF.

What's crazy is Akuma stayed in base form to and was still keeping up and fighting evenly with Devil Kazuya. Would've loved to see him go Oni, even if it was just a cutscene lol.

@@slippyquack7672 Yeah. Devil Kazuya in his new form barely matches Akuma in his base while accessing some of his Shin powers. Most people mistake Akuma's white aura has his Shin form. He was still holding back.

Akuma was the first to do it and it was successful. People loved it. He's definitely the pioneer and influenced many other games to do it. So he definitely an important part of the cross over movement

I LOVE Akuma's inclusion and the fact that it's cannon, but I wish they gave a little more context. WHEN in the Tekken time-line did Akuma OFFICIALLY debute; And, when and how did Kazumi save Akuma's life causing him to repay her a debt in the first place? Obviously it occurred when Kayzua was still a boy and probably before the whole cliff thing, but where does it take place in the Street Fighter side? Was it during the Alpha series or...? So many unanswered questions. I hope one day they get answered and you make a video on the answer. Anyways another job well done as always Tophat.👏

ya lots of lore potential there in tekken for gouki. i wish we knew more of his back story how they found each other. maybe this was way back when akuma left goutetsu and gouken to train. to master his satsui and all that. during this time he was brought to near death?? then kasumi finds him..... lol. my head canon for now.

I think Akuma meeting with Kazumi (that Kazumi saved his life) happened after he left the Dojo to train in the Satsu No Hado Before he killed his Master So before Ryu was born as those two events more or less happened the same day As how it happened In Namco × Capcom (i know it's non canon but shish its only to make an example) Akuma's Cave Temple (the Cave where Akuma trained his Satsu No Hado) has been mentioned having a Dimensional Rift in it (or something) and can be used to travel into the Netherworld/Afterlife (but potentially can be used to travel to other Dimensions too) I think when Akuma was training he may have lost control of the Satsu No Hado and got a potential mortal wound But at the same time opened the Dimensional Rift causing him to cross in the Tekke Universe where he ended in a Cave Temple dedicated to The Devil Gene Where he meet Kazumi that saved his life (Later Akuma must have learned how to use the Portal and go in-between the 2 Dimensions at will)

Never understand why people actually liked AKUMA butting in MISHIMA three generations rivalry. Sure Kazuya and Jin feel similar when fighting to heihachi but trio fighting each other having same blood is something..........then AKUMA butted in. Hello you guys, i am also your new enemy, Please, hate me like you hated each other all these games and equally if not more. Thank God, Akuma did not go for MK universe. Imagine Scorpion and sub zero fighting to kill each other and Akuma butting in with excuse of helping QUAN CHI. where would that put Scorpion vs. sub zero. if you think that will be cool, then you must not know what makes a rivalry so amazing.

I don't really consider Akira as a guest character in SF5. Is the same like Guy and Cody. The Rival Schools and Final Fight felt more like a spin-off to Street Fighter since all of it take place in the same universe. I put Street Fighter as the main universe since this game clearly the major point of this verse now

Akuma being part of Tekken's lore and has made SF and Tekken's world canon is something I'd never believe until forever. I doubt we'll ever see Namco's version of the Tekken X Street Fighter considering how long Street Fighter X Tekken has been release so having Akuma there would probably suffice enough in Namco's view and how we're on Tekken 8 now.

4:52-4:59 What about his appearence as a boss character in Namco X Capcom? You can play as Tekken characters in that game and fight Akuma as them. Namco X Capcom came out in 2005, 7 years before Street Fighter X Tekken was announced.

The reason can be summed up like this. Akuma either had some sort of secret love affair with Heihachi’s ex wife Kazumi or at least some sort of close relationship between the two. She went to Akuma and asked him to end the Mishima Bloodline and leave no survivors. Akuma agreed not only because of whatever the past relationship is/was classified as with Kazumi but it has been long established in Street Fighter lore that Akuma will NEVER shy away from finding someone who can match him in combat. That’s been his one desire. Heihachi, Kazuya & Jin were just more possibilities to fulfill that desire for him. That storyline never got fully fleshed out by the end of Tekken 7 though. I fully believe we haven’t seen the last of Akuma in the Tekken series. I am willing to bet he will make a surprise appearance in Tekken 8 somewhere. It may not be until a DLC storyline or something but it would be criminal to have his mission go unfulfilled.

I have even an idea of what The Final Boss could (have) be(en) a *Satsu No Hado* (empowered) *Devil* Devil is a Character that was dropped in Tekken (since probably T3 with the Introduction of the Devil Gene) His Lore would merge the OG Kazuya selling his Soul to the Devil/Demon possession Lore from Tekken 1 & 2 With the Devil Gene Lore from Tekken 3 onwards The Devil Gene would be something Devil created so that he could have a Perfect Host to use to descend on the Mortal Realm But because Kazuya was able to resist his Posession & Jin has the Kazama's Blood then in T×SF he would have asborbed the Satsu No Hado to manifest his own body (kinda like Cage in SF5 as he is Ryu's Satsu No Hado manifested)

I know it's not going to happen, but part of me still hope for the idea of Akuma returning in Tekken 8. After all, not only is he canon to the Tekken 7 Story Mode, but he also made a promise with Kazumi to kill both Heihachi and Kazuya if they become to big of a threat. Heihachi is dead, at least that what we've been told, but Kazuya is still alive, so he hasn't completed his promise yet.

Well it's because karate means empty fist I think, Okinawa. But where karate originated from in China, where an okinawaan family visited China, they learnt empty hand, and went back to Okinawa and it became karate empty fist. Thats probably why it's called tekken. And probably why they use "fist" a lot, as the translation. Akuma is probably loosely saying he is the best karate practitioner or along those lines lol

Honestly it was pretty cool of the creators of Tekken to not be super stan like with their characters and make it so they could actually lose to and outside character from another fighting game that was actually pretty cool of them. Cuz I feel like a kumail would win against a decent amount of them.

I've watched lots of street fighter movies. I have a theory, in the live action street fighter: assassin's fist, gouki becomes akuma I think it's gouki. He leaves the confines of his masters hut and his brother(gouken), the one that trained ryu.and walks down the dark hado path. Anyways during his training and his morphing, he nearly dies a few times from the dark hado consuming him. Anyways I reckon kazumi being a yokai, and akuma training in the forest, attracted kazumi to him. She prob saved his life while he was killing his humanity to become an akuma. Revived him a few times or something like that. If anyone has played nioh2, kazumi looks like the yokai mother of ur main character who is half yokai. Oni yokai n akumas have a special relationship in the demon realm. Because akuma isn't pure evil, he did love ryu mother, but the assassin's fist shotokan style means that to walk that path, means u will have to kill ur master and any rival, including his brother and now his son ryu. Which parallels kazumis story with kazuya and heihachi, Now heihachi is the son of a thundergod, jinpachi, who are evil I think, and the yokai have some feud with those type of Gods. So she never intended to have kazuya, because of the devil gene and whatever thundergod blood, would create more monsters and draw out the ancient guardians that have been sealed away. I think it all ties in when u look at their history and origins. U can see the demon direction for sure.

I remember in Namco×Capcom is mentioned that in Akuma's Cave Temple (the one where he trained his SatsuNoHado) It's mentioned there's a Dimensional Rift there

Only someone like Akuma could jump into another game and become a vital player in the main story of the game. Certainly was handled perfectly in having akuma serve as someone to eliminate heihachi and Kazuya for Kazumi, as she foresaw terrible things to come from her son and estranged husband.

would've liked if geese appearance was him trying to take control of the vacuum heihachi's death left/loved noctis being friends with lars(between that and his appearance in one of the naruto games odd he has connections like that.). while i doubt akuma may come back in 8(not against it just maybe do more with it.)/feels a bit like a foundation for tekken x street fighter did love akuma's appearance in 7 and while i wish kazumi had been in the present as a boss(could reveal her as the spirit that possessed jinpachi.) instead of being unintentionally the reason heihachi fully went to being evil like to headcanon kazumi's how he got his 2nd wind against gouken.(did more with akuma than sf itself has as 6 probably won't have much for him unless he fights ryu to finally see who wins or dies/that form he had in cfn.) also like it with how akuma(and to an extent anita.) were what started the vs. games.

I think the Akuma is the only fighting game character from a different franchise to actually become canon to that fighting game franchise’s lore. Not counting Street Fighter and Final Fight constant crossovers.

He didn’t invade anything, Harada ( who is in charge of everything Tekken) wants to make all fighting games connect and be in the same world and that’s how he started it. Don’t be surprised if you see MK characters in the Tekken 8 story when it comes out, I’m pretty sure he has already made similar deals like the one with Akuma.

And yeah it doesn’t make any sense everyone agrees on that. let’s hope they clear some of that up in the T8 but fighting games aren’t really known for their outstanding coherent storytelling so don’t hold your breath on that one, but we will see I guess.
