SupaLeetShot _ if you watch this on your phone or tablet it should be fine, I haven’t risked watching it on my laptop because I’m worried about getting a virus from the pop ups gostream.pl/film/the-terror-2018-1080p.64744/watching.html?episode_id=118579
It ended because Octavian defeated Mark Anthony at the battle of Actium, ended the civil war and became emperor. It would have got pretty boring for a while after that.
This was an actual expedition that occurred - and was lost during a two winter polar ice cap freeze where the ice did not melt over the summer months. Thus based on true events - but fictionalized by Dan Simmons. Excellent book by the way, and also tied to another book called Drood.
This show is utterly remarkable. I thought it would be a bit boring but NOPE. Remarkable work and spectacular cast. The cinematography is breathtaking. I think there is a supernatural element in there, so I'm super excited
So, a group of englishmen fighting cold, paranoia, food rationing and some random unseen monster. Well, it sounds exactly that daily life in the 1800's London.
For those of you who don't know what this movie is based on, it's based on Sir John Franklin's lost expedition through the Northwest Passage in 1845-1847 where the ships HMS Erebus and HMS Terror were stuck in the ice for longer than expected. They ended up trying to find a way south on foot and sled when their ships couldn't break free of the ice after hoping the summer would thaw the ice around their ships. They eventually resorted to cannibalism. The real reason why the men died have been speculated to either be lead poisoning from their cans of food, or their ships "state of the art" water treatment systems. Both shipwrecks of both HMS Erebus and HMS Terror were found in 2014 and 2016 respectively.
funny thing i was watching "nerd Crew" from red letter media and it did not switch when i searched the Terror. Strangely Red letter Media talking about Disney does have Lovecraftian vibes
SPIRIT DOT I have and I LOVE it, it's a Masterpiece, but this book I found to be more in the vein of Frakenstein...more of an existential isolating dread. Dracula is on its own level, so is Frakenstein, but in terms of modern horror, this book had me by the throat and and heart and stayed with me for the years since I first read it
David Oakes it's called The Terror, it's fantastic. If you like Shackleton, I would think you'd love This! Lots of detail about arctic exploration and it makes you feel like you are actually there
it's the story of how....the Admiralty cannot admit that British sailors ate each other so they came up with this bullocks to explain what ate the men.
Looks really good. Unfortunately Ridley Scott will be bored of the premise by season 2 and the mysterious entity will be replaced by Michael Fassbender's David Android.
I haven't begun watching the series, because I'm still in the middle of reading the book. But I am so impressed by the source material that I'm sure this show will be good. Here's hoping AMC will continue with future seasons... there's so much potential, *PLEASE* please please continue with the show.
This is based on the book by Dan Simmons, which in turn is loosely based upon the 18th century English Arctic expedition. Two ships were sent out and neither came back. A recent NOVA episode is about the discovery of one of these ships (The Terror and Erebus).
Saw a documentary about this recently, they were looking for the northwest passage and we're never heard from again, till they discovered the wreck of one of the ships at the bottom of the sea last year.
Go watch it!! It's so damn good and a quick watch with 10 episodes. Tho it is full of horror the moments of character growth and friendship make it so special.
Dans book was pretty good, and there was certainly a huge focus on the horrendous life on board the ship while it was locked in the ice The 'thing' that ultimately finds them was only a peripheral character until quite a way in - which was great as it made a dreadful life and slow death from cold/exposure ratchet up the jeopardy Handled well it could be awesome Was hugely disappointed with the ending of the book; hopefully they'll address that in this series Optimistic with the actors and director on show
paul elliott right- we didn’t technically see the monster until the ships were icebound a good year & a half into the expedition. However this trailer looks like compiled footage from several episodes (casket being lowered into the ground, Beechey Island I’m assuming to the sled expedition to King William Island, the lightning illuminating the sled at nighttime). This looks pretty spot on and true to the book, but you’re right, the pacing is everything.
Brendan Stieren Hi Brendan That was the great thing about the book Ostensibly it highlighted the wretched life that the crew endured while bring trapped in the ice - interesting and gripping seeing the life being squeezed out of the stricken vessel and get to know the characters on board, and the native visitors Definitely a trailer that mingles in several episodes - essentially to draw attention to the horror element Hope they can convey the claustrophobic air of menace from all the dangers they face, along with the bleak landscape, the deep and abiding cold - and, of course, the thing that does not want them there We shall see ... on my watch list anyway
paul elliott Absolutely hope the landscape of terror and hopelessness is fulfilling to us book readers. I’ve had most of my friends read The Terror and the most wonderful conversations have followed. Looking forward to series!
Peacefully Social Justice Dan Simmons is a great writer. In my view, the book was a fantastic read bringing your life the effort and desolation of the stricken ship. It read like a conventional (and damn fine) expedition story until the deaths started - the air of menace and fear (and the deadly nature of the 'entity') was handled superbly. My disappointment was the 'unveiling' and the last stand - for me it dispelled the sense of menace that Dan had built up. Pleased they have decided to film the material and optimistic it will be a good watch Fingers crossed
this whole series followd. shadowed along the actual true story from what they had to recover. I think beyond this show which is fantastic, the truth is much more terrifying.
there is a logical explanation for it... the rations they ate were kept in lead containers, poisoning them and making them mad. It is what happened and the yeti is just what we can imagine they went through.
It is actually based on the book "The Terror", by Dan Simmons. In turn, the book is historical fiction about the events involving the very real ships HMS Terror and HMS Erebus, which were trying to find the Northwest Passage, only to be lost. It's a fictionalized account (obviously) of a real expedition involving real ships and real people.
No problem. It's actually a pretty good book. I'd suggest it. As a note, they actually found the wreckage of the HMS Erebus in 2014; the HMS Terror wreckage was located in 2016.
i remember after just finishing episode 3 i thought to myself "this is definitely a re-watchable show" and i just finished episode 9, tomorrow will end the series and goddamn do i have the need to re-watch it straight away, but i won't, maybe after a week or two really this show is so brilliant, writing, directing, acting, all top notch, really drawns you in, reminds me a bit of Quarry(2016) by how it draws you in with the storytelling
Actually they've all had jobs here in the UK where they are from, perhaps try watching something other than American networks for a change instead of advertising how ignorant you are of how the world works.
Since I missed Mad Men, I didn't realize how awesome Jared Harris was until I saw this series. Before I saw The Terror, I thought of Harris as a solid, comical supporting guy, seen briefly in movies like Natural Born Killers and Dead Man. He's awesome. He's not just the son of a legend anymore.
Awesome tv show, yet it ended almost to fast. Could have used some extra detail time. The acting was outstanding loved the characters. Yet the tuun baq could have been made more scarier in my opinion, to really get that sense as oh god when he comes (now it was in between realistic and monster like, would have liked to emphasize even more on the sinister horror hopeless spirit vibe). And also some more scary/people turning mad parts maybe even hallucinations/ghost/scary things I would have liked and more episode to go deeper into the story the years flew by very fast in one season. I liked the sinister/horror vibe to this series. It's a first that a serie really catches that sinister vibe of people slowly turning mad, starving, frozen, poisened and hopeless. Very cool! Could have had more episodes in my opinion. Only just went by so fast hahaha guess it's a good sign aswell but damn. There was so more parts of the story to be possible to develop into more cool stuff. Could have stretched the years out more. I was not done watching! but a very solid season for sure. I give it 9 bootys out of 10.
Not that the show was that bad but after watching a video about the actual incident, I was expecting an actual historical show and not a fantasy one. Still worth watching it.
Finally decided to let Walking Dead go this season. I found it shit for a while but still somewhat enjoyable, the last season was just making me depressed watching it.
Brianne Morris So u seem to know the events it's based on. What events? The real events. I'm not an idiot and think the whole plot was true but that they took liberties with it.
True events in that the ships were real and they did get stuck in the ice. The book then went on to explain in great detail how they were being hunted down. Really well written and very exciting. Why it's a series I don't know. It was a very long book.
Looks a great debut series especially when l see a cast of got that actor who was the leader of the wildings.congrats to AMC in this new hit series can't wait to see it
Great show. The trailer puts too much focus on the supernatural element, when the biggest horror in the book and show is based in reality and depicts what the real crew on Terror and Erebus most likely experienced - hypothermia, lead poisoning, madness, starvation. cannibalism etc.
why do you doubt it? it's the fourth most watched show on AMC, and several sources have hinted on a renewal, although it hasn't been confirmed yet. They'd have to find new characters and a storyline, obviously, but it could work. I just want to see more Francis!
In case you were still wondering, season 2 has been confirmed for 2019, but with a completely different story that takes place during WWII. No cast members confirmed yet, nor any trailer.
That must be that xenomorph who fell from space while escaping from really bad movie named Alien Covenant. Hey Ridley we dont want xenomorphs or neomorphs or whatevermorphs anymore, give us ENGINEERS, we WANT them.
HQifty you have 8 movies with aliens already, people are sick with it they want something new, that's why alien covenat have such bad rating. Movie would be big a success if they went for 50% enginners/50% aliens, but they went for the horrible WTF storyline.
Another trailer that just about shows everything that is going to happen. Half of this trailers length would have been enough. Still, I´m excited for this.
The gay characters are some of the worst people on the ship lol... One of them is the main antagonist, it's hardly pandering to gay people. There isn't even a "gay scene" in the whole season, only thing that happens is the guys getting caught, you literally don't see anything lol!
I agree, after watching the last alien movie i burried my alien fan in me. Scott was such a great director, now hes either bad or just a system puppet for the hollywood agenda
alien covenant was amazing.. but if you just want action go watch alien 1,2 . covenant was for me a work of art.. perfect lore. and that ending was mindblowing for me.. prometheus was amazing too. but only if you like the "history" behind the STORY...
