Thank you for taking the time to review this! I just found out that it existed when pining for sn 6 of Handmaid's Tale. I will DEFINITELY be adding it to my TBR list! I love dystopian fiction.
I remember really liking The Handmaid's Tale. I think that was the first time I'd ever been truly appalled by what I was reading. I might have to give this a try sometime.
I decided to pick this book up after watching the handmaids' tale series and honestly, I was underwhelmed by it. Gilead is a society with many structures and sub-structures to it. It would have been nice to have further elaboration or interaction of these characters with them. I suppose this is also tied in with the writer's intent, so not much we can say there. It felt like more of a casual read, with some interesting moments, definitely not a bucket list book in my view.
Hi! Thank you for this great review. I haven't read The handmaid's tale and I don't feel like reading it, but I feel curiosity for The testaments after listening to you. Do you think that I can understand and enjoy it without reading The handmaid's tale? (I just watched the series, but have no idea whether it sticks to the original story). Thank you.
great channel! what arr you thinking about richard powers? I’m reading orfeo..It’s just unbelievable how he is capable to make music with words..the more I read the more I think that post and postpostmodernists are ‘nothing’ compared to ulysses or finnegans for the most hard-core readers 🤣
