While attending the University of Cambridge, Stephen Hawking (Eddie Redmayne) is informed he has a motor neuron disease that will soon prohibit him to control his body. However, the doctor tells him that his brain will not be affected by the disease but he only has two years to live.

The film is based on the memoir Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen, by Jane Hawking, and is directed by Academy Award® winner James Marsh (Man on Wire).
