Not much more to say about this one. The Thing is one of my fav movies and this game does a great job of capturing the feel of it. I like that the play time is manageable too. Solid game and has its own seperate niche distinct from games like Battlestar and coup.

Probably volunteering to fix a fire when the mission needed axes and i had 3 of them, i figured everyone else would be short. Its the helpful imitation that is the worst.

I think the final girl station 2891 does a great job of interpreting it into the game and it plays great

The Thing is one of the best Sci-Fi movies, one of the best horror movies, and one of the best mystery movies all in one. So many questions unanswered, so many paths to explore. Who got to the blood? When did Blair turn? Norris? Palmer? What happened with Childs at the end? Can Kurt Russell be any more cool? I think not.

The player count and just that I still vastly prefer BSG even though this is a pretty solid game.

How does this one compare to the 2022 game with the similar title? (BTW I'd recommend adding the "Infection at Outpost 31" part to the title since right now it's a bit confusing)

The new one is titled "Who Goes There?" and runs at a lower player count: 3-6. It's based on the novella, so the characters and roles are a touch different, but it doesn't impact game play. E.g. MacReady is the meteorologist, and the chopper pilot is a guy named VanWall. Each character still has separate powers. The production value is quite high. It runs a couple hours. The infection mechanism is similar-ish, but a little more free-flowing and opportunistic. Also, the infected players have to be somewhat careful about the endgame conditions; they need a human on the helicopter in order to win. That brings me to the big contentious point: then endgame. There's a somewhat complex endgame sequence that revolves around a modified die roll to see who if anyone wins. That turns a lot of people off, but to me the real game is everything up to that point, and I like it a lot.

@@IPutSpidersOnYou that’s actually a third game. There is a whole other The Thing: the Board game that came out after both who goes there and infection at outpost 31. And they all have extremely similar esthetics and mechanics which makes it all the more confusing.
