After Reed Richards had gone into the future, they would do so to see how humanity plays out. However, the more they went into the future the more they would witness Ben Grimm's Death.
Amazing, you mispronounced every year of each consecutive millennium. It's not "twentytwelve, thirtytwelve, fourtytwelve, fiftytwelve, sixtytwelve. It's two thousand twelve, three thousand twelve, four thousand twelve, five thousand twelve, and six thousand twelve. I have a strong belief it should be said that way because back before the double digit years, we NEVER said "twenty O O, twenty O one and so forth.
4000 weeks is pretty much 77 years. And he was likely in his 30’s when he got the powers. But it also took some time for them to develop the serum to allow him to be human for a week. So this checks out. His human age was probably between mid 80’s to early 90’s when he died.
All your likes lol. The thing lives 4000 years. You got 4000 weeks is 77 years from that somehow? Then the video says the thing only ages in his human form. Meaning as thing he doesn't age at all. However the thing only turned back human one time for less than a day and decided to go back to the thing to help protect the world. What I got from this and your comment is the video doesn't make sense so it through off your comment but at least your math maths lol. I enjoyed and was more educated from your comment then this video
@@hellboyj31 it’s specifically from the Johnathan Hickman fantastic four comics. The movies kind of made their own version of this. But the comics show them make a “serum” and it makes him turn human for one week of the year. So everything checks out. Also he ages at such a slow speed as the thing it’s pretty much zero since it’s like a rock aging so yes to answer that question he does only age as a human. The maths math since Hickman was very exact with his stuff. I was shocked about this too and had to confirm with my local comic nerd.
@@psquared247 uhh my 4000/52 is 77 my dude. Thats how math works. 4000 weeks divided into 52 week portions is how many years your would get. But nice try tho.
The only time I've ever seen in which Ben does not have Reed's back was the Civil War in which Ben didn't side with either faction and instead just defended his home turf of Yancy Street
Honestly, that's a really good ending for Ben. He lived a hard life as a Hero, risking his life quite often while isolated from the one's he protected do to his condition. And immortality isn't as wonderful as it sounds, ask Deadpool or Wolverine, he saw all of his friends, which could understand him, going one after the other. But having the opportunity to age, even if quite slow, and have a resemblance of a normal life, and even the opportunity to life a normal life once a Year, must be a unbelievable valuable feeling for him. And at the end, going peaceful in his sleep, is a privilege not many Great Heroes get...
Every 52 years give or take he ages 1 year so every 1000 years he ages 19 plus years so 4k years it’s 80 years old plus his oringal age so near a 100 give or take
Would think he'd live longer and healthier considering on going advances in medicine, and chronic disease issues. In 4k years will 100 year olds be walking around in the metabolic bodies of 30 year olds? 🤔
Was he happy during all that time? I always remember him being sad about being the Thing so hearing he had to endure that for 4000 years is heartbreaking. I really hope hed made peace with it.
You’ll be happy to know, Ben learned to love life a long time ago. Around the time Reed and Sue announced their first kid. Things have been looking up for him. He made peace with himself and Reed, got married to his long-time girlfriend Alicia, gets to turn into a human once a year, and recently adopted two kids. My man’s doing alright for himself these days.
@@Angel-Otk We don't get to see that as part of this story, but in all likelihood, his family grew old and died around him. Though considering that his wife is human, his son is a Kree and his daughter is a Skrull, they would probably have died with several hundred of years between them.
I mean this is not exactly immortality it’s more so an extended life which is cool bc I’d rather have that but much like immortality those who don’t live as long will burden you if you miss them but that’s the thing is not everyone’s neuro chemistry is set up that way so ppl brains work different having a different personality/ outlook on things may make someone more tolerable of this lifestyle
Immortality is useless if you’re not invincible, so many people die of different causes before they reach 80-90 years. He is super durable but I can’t imagine 3000 years.
ima just say it, Reed Richards NEEDS a redemption arc that firmly solidifies him as one of the greatest heroes of his time. he needs an arc where he has a true and blue come to God moment that causes him to forgoe his more....unsavory tendencies, one where he chooses family, friends, and heroics over his ever-present need to know more at any cost. the man has many flaws but the character deserves to be redeemed. it could be a wonderfully epic story, and Doom would play no small part. way I see it, Doom would damn near be the one to orchestrate it all as a boon to his favorite God-daughter (with Valeria, that term takes on a whole new meaning lol) in an effort to "give her her daddy back" type of thing. Doom would ultimately give Reed the speech of a lifetime that only Doom could, and Reed would finally be healed and redeemed. will it happen? probably not, but damn it would be amazing.
1 week in human form for 4000 years (assuming this was possible for all 4000 years) is 75 years total so it makes sense why he died after that bc amount of time
I like how it also tells you the name of the city through the future versions of it (except 3012, it didnt show it) 2012 - New York City 3012 - New York City? 4012 - NYC Territory 5012 ‐ The York Prefecture 6012 - TNY Orb
Well Reed must have been able come up with the base off the restorative solution, but because of the unique physiology of the Thing. Reed must have finally confirmed that what he all ready knew the thing was practically immortal. Reed knew that there were ways to alter Ben’s DNA back to human, because it had been done so in the past temporarily by the likes of Dr. Doom, The Leader, Galactus, even Reed has from time to time. But nothing could hold. This trip only confirmed what Reed probably knew all along that there was no cure. Just momentary relief from his Thing body and the ability to die of old age. That was way Reed was obsessed with time travel all these years. He had to know and confirm the one thing that he promised his friend from the beginning. That he would cure him. With confirmation of Ben’s time line he knows for sure that he can never completely reverse his condition and keep his promise. That was what truly was breaking Reed’s heart. Even Franklin can’t cure Ben, even with all his immense power.
They can turn him human. They literally made a serum that turns him human for 1 week. Franklin can simply turn Ben human forever if that's what Ben wanted. It seems like he made it his mission to make the Future Foundation a true force of protection for the galaxy.
That's truly a sad story ! I've often wondered what it would be like to be a human immortal, not just what we are now ! But what you'd see who you'd lose over all that time ! Not exactly fare !
I think that Reed needed to take this trip to finally be able to believe that Ben didn’t blame him for what happened to him. That even after the accident that turned them into the Fantastic Four, Ben still saw him as a good friend.
Everyone he knew and cared for has died around him while he remained the one constant is Franklin but his wife, his kids, his best friends have all grown old and died while he lived
If it's base age was around 30 and he aged one week per year that would add another 76 years to his base age so he will be 90 to 106? Human years old. Depending on what his base age was actually.
if you only aged 1 week every year. your lifespan would be 4160 years if you wouldve otherwise lived to 80. ben grimm made it to his late 70's in human time.
The saddest part must be knowing he never cured him and seeing Ben basically give in to the only way out through an extremely slow aging process... imagine if he developed something like schizophrenia in his human 60s and had to go all that time with it :(
That means that he lived for nearly 77 years (as a human) after the accident, despite already being middle aged (at least 30 considering what he accomplished before the accident, but i was unable to find an actual age online). That means he died at minimum, as a 107 year old.
And then joins ben on the couch for a football game instead of working on his science projects. (This is what happens when reed goes back to his time in the comic,if anyone was wondering.) Its a good story
If he only ages for 1 week his lifespan is 52 times longer, so he lived for abou 77 years after he resumed aging. Poor Ben, outliving everyone must be hell, but if thats hell living so long that you cant even remember anything close to how many loved ones youve forgotten must be something beyond hell
This pissed me off so much he was your closest friend but when you see he suffering in the future with no one by his side and you choose to sit and secretly watch
