Exactly what I was thinking. It was ground breaking, had freaking carpenter in it, is canon, great writing. It can EASILY be redone in a new engine with new animation, models etc and be a crazy win for everyone involved. but no, we have a barely retextured remake. Ah well.
I never thought i would see the day that they ACTUALLY remaster this game. As much as i would love a ground up remake or sequel, i am beyond grateful that we are even getting a remaster.
no , it does not ... just look at the bump mapping , FOV of 100 then 45 , aspect ratio of 16:9 the 4:3, Bloom , lighting and projected shadows then baked ones, snow effects, new texture work... none of those are on PS2. It truly looks like a Remaster a work of care and love... If they fixed the mimic test script logic, then this game will be perfect.
I dont really know of any single player modern game that gives you a squad of 4 guys that you have to check their mental status periodically and to see if they themselves will turn into the thing and start mauling you when you turn your back, also this game came out in 2002, where you get the 80s from
It still is wym did u even ever play the game or seen the original. Literally ANYONE can be a monster so that buddy u had in your squad the whole time could turn out to be infected since the start
@@petebagwell6666this was Among Us before Among Us in a way, sad they didn't just remake the game and add a multiplayer mode. Fingers crossed for the future though. 🤞
Original game had a bad ai that would turn someone not infected after testing them into a thing for crossing a room threshold. So right now a lot of people stuck on nostalgia but the game is riddled with bugs when originally released.
I’m glad that this is getting ‘remastered’ as it was a PS2 great that was ahead of its time IMO, but that first teaser trailer sold us a dream. Looked like it was being remade with a new engine, but this just looks like a 720 or poor 1080 port of the game. Shame - they could have totally remade it.
Graphics are one thing... but did they fixed the Mimic mechanic that was build on AWFUL scripts, when to calm your teammates you had to do a mimic test... you did it, with all your team that showed none of them are mimics... did two steps, to trigger a cutscene... and suddenly ALL OF THEM ARE MIMICS attacking you...
If The Suffering & it's sequel The Ties that Bind got this treatment at the very least I'd be so Happy. But I've never played this so I look forward to it.
I wish they put more money into the game but , for it's time this game was pretty great it had some really Unique Mechanics like a trust system and if people didn't trust you you could force them at gunpoint but this was a secret the game didn't tell you about. I really really really really really really really really really really hope that we can get another one

One more note, I think it, tears through your clothes as it takes you over. Windows found some shredded long johns but the name tag is missing. They could be anyone's. Games that need a Remake, or a SEQUEL is THIS IS ONE!!, A DEAD SPACE LEVEL HORROR!! I was scared to play this game when I was a kid, after the first boss fight it was more complicated to play. Now if only We could play a sequel or a remake, with an multiplayer that looks more to an Among Us, but more elavorated would be awesome
The only part I never liked was whenever the game wanted you to be solo, your squad mates were instantly scripted to be Things, even after they were perfectly vetted.
I have this game on ps2, but refuses to work in my ps2. Glad to see it's getting a remaster! Lookin forward to playing it for the first time, despite owning it for years 😆 😎
Nightdive is more than capable of producing an incredible remake of this game, specially after what they did with system shock. So a lil disappointing to see that its a remaster only.
This game… was not good. It had great atmosphere but the whole squad mechanic never worked and all of the Thing transformations were too scripted. Really would’ve preferred a full-on remake.
