Nostalgic, surreal, and psychologically horrific, the indie game OMORI is an RPG with a lot to say. Let's examine how this game crafts its strange world and how that complements its dark, serious subject matter.

I really love your ability to capture the kind of childhood wistfulness of Omori. A lot of games in its genre tend to use the idea of imagery or abstraction and let players draw their own conclusions, but everything is just so grounded in Omori. Everything that seems fantastical or abstracted has a counterpart in the Faraway that makes how the kids interpret the world make sense, and thus makes every little bit resonant past the initial pass of "oh look that's so fantastical". And I think that grounding in reality is gonna make it stand out and be resonant where others of its genre have fallen off. It's just so careful and thoughtful with what it wants to say that it endures past its first impression. Really nicely put! Video's only a 3/10 though because no Dino's Dig.

Excellent video. I'm impressed how well you summed up the game's themes without any major spoilers. As for how popular this game gets, well I don't need it to be the next UT. However, I do want this game to spread in its popularity, if only so more people can play this masterpiece.

Finally got around to playing Omori, and actually beat it about a week ago. Absolutely nailed what the game does so well, and how much it sticks with you. Very impressive how you managed to do that without discussing the details of the plot itself.

Literally never heard of this game before, some quick googling hit me with a barrage of people talking about how stellar this game is. Looks super interesting!

in my opinion omori drags on waaaay too much the introduction of the dream and real world are pretty good, the last 3 hours are a masterpiece the middle, especially the dream part(cca 7 hours I'd say), is mind numbing with predictable writing that unsuccessfully tries to be bizzare and interesting(with few exceptions being the pyramide and whale) and most jokes that fall flat That being said, the amazing artstyle, imagery, plot twists and parts of the writing makes it still a good game in my eyes p.s. you should play lisa

Good use of Silent Hill 4 music in this review; and some interesting thoughts for sure. I really appreciate what this game was trying to accomplish. I love SH, Undertale, Doki Doki Literature Club, and other games that tackle mature subject matter in unique ways. EarthBound is one of my favorite games ever. Omori was interesting in the beginning: it felt like Yume Nikki with a more cohesive story. A lot of the dialogue was cliche, bland and went on for much too long, and the grinding - that bane of RPG-busywork! - was tedious to a fault. I didn't finish the game and had to go look up spoilers, because I was still curious about the story; the big plot twist is very remisniscent of Silent Hill 2, which makes it seem somewhat derivative in hindsight, but it was still shocking. I'm sorry the actual game didn't interest me more. Love your channel, dude.

It's a shame you didn't play LISA before writing this. Omori looks really cool, though.
