This. All of it. I’m a teacher at a Catholic high school in the US south. The majority of my public school colleagues are now very concerned to terrified of breaking new laws enacted to limit exposure to truthful histories. It seems to me the worst version of the fictitious Idiocracy has come home to roost in reality and, in addition to the true American values set, children are seemingly now the largest targets for those who wield, with impunity, willful ignorance and conscientious stupidity (thank you for that pearl, Dr. King). These people need to be stopped. They are nuts!

If the church wants to get involved in politics, then they need to start paying taxes.

Katherine Stewart's book The Power Worshippers, was the first one I read, after fleeing the church I had been attending when Trump came down his gaudy escalator, and they all went nuts for him..i was astonished that mot one called out the fact that the Emperor had no clothes..The prosperity gospel made deeper inroads,The decree it, declare it,get it by the power of your words was practiced at every service, the parade of false prophets that came through with flattering messages, the heresy that Jesus was filthy rich, and wanted us to build His Kingdom hy subverting politics, all made me sic. When people cartied on discussions wbiut whether or mot the earth was flat or spherical, and away they went... I hung around just to see how far afield they would go out of a morbid curosity. I could not stay any more. I no longer recognized these former aquaintances, they were mad. I was calledb" Marxist, baby killer, and pure evil when I objected. I ran. Then Covid hit. They regused to comply with orders to go to online services, claimed it was persecution, ect. I saw an interview with Katherine Stewart and ran out to purchase the book. Since then, I have read a stack of others, all excellent. Jesus is my north star. My eyes are on Him. The Jesus these deceived sheep are following is one of fiction. A god created in their own likeness and image who allows them to yeild to their worst impulses. It is tragic. Thank you for posting this important podcast. God bless.

As a conservative Christian my entire life; I feel more persecution from within the church because of their stance on supporting Trumpism. I don’t stand with those people and they look down on me and determine I am ‘woke’. The Bible calls for us to be awake! Aware and watching; and what I am seeing makes me sad because the Nationalists are definitely asleep.

I can't wait for democracy to rescue us. Help us, democracy. You are our only hope.

Why do we not see churches that are not in this movement speaking out about it more? They are damaging Christianity more than anthing else I've ever seen. Freedom of religion and freedom from religion is good for our country. Separation of church and state has become even more important to me.

The U.S. having been founded on religious freedom is scary now as a few endorse religious persecution right on our shores. I’ll vote against any such idea, every time.

I have a friend who is quite upset at having to attend 'church meetings' every day. If she misses one, she will be ostracized. These are her friends - conditional friends - and she is pressured by the entire group to stay strong, have faith, and keep supporting Trump no matter what! She is terrified. This is a dangerous Cult and I don't know how to help her.

We protect children from cigarettes tattoos and alcohol until they are old enough to make sensible decisions. Religion should be on that list.

I take exception to your inference to private schools, I went to one for high school and I spent three years of hell in Jr. High to earn the grades! It was a boarding school and my parents were what they called Middle Middle Class in the 1975-1978 years I went. Both my parents worked. Nothing wrong with private school. Mine literally saved my life! It was a great experience as we had foreign students from countries that we fear mongering today. The only problem I had with this school that made me beg to come home weekends was they made you go to religious services, every blasted dinner and breakfast the Lord’s Prayer was shoveled on us, and the Muslim students were forced to go to Church which they didn’t mind but I thought it was rude to force Christianity on everyone. I wasn’t raised going to Temple, tried it once, hated it, hated going to Church so I begged to be able to come home on weekends to have a break for the next three years of forced religion.

I will never understand how perhaps the most pacifistic man in history (Jesus) got to be a gun mascot. Jesus got angry once. Yes, he chucked the marketers out of the Temple, but he never hit anybody. He threw the stuf out, but he never hurt anybody. How this all relates to guns, power, etc. is beyond me.

Make America great again is trumps siren song. He's singing to people who are desperate for the simplicity of the past. A world they can control. He's promising that if he's elected that he'll give them a world from a past they remember as good, less frightening, comfortable. They're desperate enough to follow him even though he's said he'll be a dictator and worse. These are predominately your cultists. You'll notice a lot of them are older, not tech savvy or in rhythm with a world that's barred them from it's community. And they are angry! They're afraid of the world they are living in, which creates anger which trump utilizes to make them afraid, which generates more anger... you can see where this goes. For trump, it looks like: Be afraid of the left, they're going to create communism in America and at the same time promising them he'll be a dictator! Continue this to absolute freezing fear and the promise of relief, "If you follow me." This phenomenon is worldwide, not just in America. We have got to find a way to help these people, to show them what the dystopian world which is trump looks like. Though they're presently unable to believe that can happen if they follow trump. We must bring them back from the hysteria, which is maga.

Freedom From Religion Foundation, American Atheists, Secular Coalition for America, American Humanist Association, Secular Student Alliance, Americans United for Separation of Church and State. Join and/or support them.

I have long said churches NEED to pay taxes!!!!

The Founding Fathers were the English version of the French Enlightenment which they judiciously grounded in the American Constitution. Whereas France has tenaciously held these tenets in highest public and judicial regard, the USA has talked the talk but never truly walked the walk. Slavery lasted longer in the US than elsewhere, apartheid lasted into the 1970's, education has little value for the average citizen , people are held in poverty with little recourse (medical aid being the most egregious) no vacation time, no investment in the social fabric and why? All for the oligarch society which runs the country. The fundamental movement is an authoritarian form of power which is racist, misogynist, xenophobic and any other form of vile hatred one can think of. I am watching my neighbour tear itself apart all the while spewing America, American and greatest global democracy none of which are apt.

They are not Christians. It is an occult period.

I read the book when it was first out and like the host, wore out several pencils with personal annotations and my own experiences triggered by her reporting. This new version of Jesus and His Kingdom is not the Christ of the scriptures, nor the kingdom He establishes, one heart at a time won by His love. This other false Kingdom is man's authority by coersive actions upon a society by greedy, power hungry men. It is the height of blasphemy to attach His name to this Dominionist model of Authoritarian control. Jesus ran when the people tried to make Him a king. He stood before Pilate and declared that His Kingdom was not of this world, otherwise His followers would take up arms. Again He emphasized, " As it is, My Kingdom is not of this world. He told His mistaken disciples that he who would be great among them must be the servant of all. Take everything the Religious Right Nationalists do and flip it upside down to gain a picture of what Christ's rule looks like. I'm going to just say it, this movement is Anti- Christ. It is the beast with the fatal head wound brought back to life. Buyer beware.

I'm not sure if anyone else has pointed this out, so I feel it's important to be clear. For most of our Nation's history, the words "...under God," were not actually included in our Pledge of Alliance. Those two words were added in 1954 as a result of the fear of communism.

Paul Weyrich was NEVER a moderate conservative. He was deeply allied with a total whack-job named Rushdoony. Between the two, they want theology to go back to before the Renaissance and Enlightenment. Weyrich set up the CNP was far-far right from its inceptions. In the last 30 years, you can see how protestant theology has gone from NT to OT, and from free-will theology to Calvinism. Calvinism fits Reagan & Milton Friedman's economics better than free-will theology in the re-framing. Weyrich was an extreme far-right radical Latin catholic.
