Between 1679 and 1680, the so called 'Killing Times', the Presbyterian Covenanters fought the King's troop at least three times at Drumclog, Bothwell and Airds Moss. Drumclog was a victory and Bothwell Brig was a rout. The die hard Cameronians continues the fight even after the Rev Richard Cameron was killed at the Battle of Airds Moss. Peace only came when James VII and II was deposed and the Presbyterian church was recognised as Scotland's church.
