He wrote some great episodes for other show rummers. Same with Moffat who was great in the RTD era but not so much as show runner. At least they all get along and geek out. True friendship and the whole point of Doctor Who.

He really is genuinely sweet from what I heard he didn't deserved all that hate seriously it was so exagerated.

He wrote Broadchurch so he's not exactly a bad writer.

I like a couple of Segun's themes, and i agree that tonally they feel more like the classic series. But i'll be a Murray Gold fan forever. His music always wins imo. I can barely even remember the themes of Jodie's era if i don't hear the first few seconds first. Segun is clearly incredibly talented, but i'm glad Gold is back.

@@paindepices4939 The classic series didn't really have an equivalent role though. Producers maybe, but they weren't really writers. And script editors didn't have so much control.

To be fair, especially in series 5, when 'I am the Doctor' is playing, you know 'I am the Doctor' is playing. But with the way Segun does it, it's far more subtle.

@@MrsMoores to each their own, I can't remember a single one of Segun's pieces aside from the main theme. But I understand people liking his more ambient stuff, just really never clicked for me and felt like whiplash for the show's musical style. Just my opinion though!

@Xanthium I kind of want a mixture of the two. It's just that although, it was subtle, Segun could more difficult to remember. On the other hand, Gold is iconic but can often be very repetitive and takeover a scene. It would be great if there was a mixture of the two (To be honest, I kind of want to see what modern Doctor Who with the classic serials music style would be like...)

Considering that David Tennant literally shouted for the first half of his first season to be heard over the music, there is a nice balance somewhere.

​@@BC08sorry, have to disagree on this. He's stated that he would have done better, but his budgets were cut quite a bit. He couldn't help it, plus why should we judge another person's work when it's unlikely that we'd do better. To be judged on your work poorly would probably place you under a heavy feeling of unhappiness, let's not put that on a man who tried to give us quality TV, I thoroughly enjoyed 13's entire era.

I think that's part of the reason why it's so hard to write for the show today - whereas in the past it was just about sending script-drafts into the Doctor Who office. It's a shame.

I mean for long lasting characters and franchises they are essentially fanfics after the original creators leave. At this point 99% of all comics are fanfics since the big characters creators are either not working on them, retired or dead

They are all first of all fans of the show, and get along quite well.

Exactly. Hate the writing, not the writer. All of them deserve to be there as all of them are fans who love their job and did their best. Even if some of their best was... somewhat lacking.

I'd happily watch a series of the three showrunners just sat getting into super in-depth discussions about Classic Who! Feels like a relatively low budget BBC Three or possibly BBC Four program that could do rather well! 😂👍

Its been longest time since the second showrunner wrote an episode, the first is the most recent, right after the 3rd. I think that's appropriately Timey-Wimey

​@@brewster_4That won't happen. Russell is very talented and proven with his 4 seasons of the show that he knows how to make a great story. I think it's safe to say he won't disappoint. Update: I'm not so sure what my thoughts are now, this season was really divisive.

​@@brewster_4Russell T Davies built that show from the ground up and made it more inclusive and no one gave a damn because he wrote it so damn well. Moffat made some of the best and worst Dr Who episodes. Chibnall ran the viewership and overall appeal into the ground with poor writing and people could attack the quality for what it was and people were far less supportive of the whole cast as a result. Most people are not going to give a tenth of a damn about wokeness or whatever if the quality goes back to its peak from 2005-2013. If its a continuation of the laziness and poor quality of recent years next to no one is going to protect the show from such accusations, no matter how poorly warranted they are because like under Chibnall next no one will like it enough to defend it except a different batch of ideologues.
