I think the Knicks arguably win this trade as well. They get their 25 year old superstar of the future and a backup veteran forward and get rid of a bad contract and only give up Deuce and 4 first round picks (only 2 unprotected) and keep Grimes, Quickley, Toppin, Barrett.

Fair point, but I don’t think the Knicks are willing to give up 5-6 first round picks as well as young players (as reported by multiple sources).

Except for maybe the Lakers, since LeBron has a big influence in decisions made by the organization. He has about 2-3 more years left in him and he wants to win 1-2 more rings to chase Jordan. He won’t do that with the current roster and maybe Bogdanovic, Clarkson, Pat Bev, and Cam Reddish can get him there. The Lakers also get rid of Russ and his big contract.

@@scottwolf6213 Westbrook's contract is toxic and most teams can't take it. Jazz could get both unprotected picks from the Lakers for Bogdanovich, Beasley, and Beverly. This trade doesn't do anything for the Jazz that they couldn't do for themselves and 2/2 picks with Rose/Fournier isn't going to get it done. If the Knicks want a third team that helps, they should try moving Fournier for young guys and/or picks as part of the deal. Dallas, New Orleans or Miami might be good fits.

Well, thanks for the feedback, but Russ would be bought out in this scenario.

If Quickley is included instead of Reddish, that may very well do it as well. I just prefer keeping the chemistry with IQ and Obi and have him as the sixth man and reports are also suggesting that the Lakers are still interested in Cam and would want him in any deal with the Knicks and Jazz if they are giving up 2 first round picks.

Fair point and good counter-idea as well, but the Jazz would still be getting 6 first round picks (4 unprotected & 2 protected) in this scenario which would make up the 2* years left on Fournier’s contract (3rd year doesn’t count cause it’s a team option).

That’s true, but I do think that he’d definitely be able to trade Fournier either at the upcoming trade deadline or next offseason easily as an expiring contract.

I actually think there’s a good chance this type of a three-team trade happens. Ainge may still be very stubborn so it could require an additional first round pick but not more than that. The Knicks aren’t willing to go over 5 first round picks. Ainge either accepts this type of a deal (which is pretty pretty good imo) and tanks for Wembanyama/Scoot for 2023 or gets out of those sweepstakes by not accepting.
