FYI it was not part of the show, Pavarotti decided to improvise in the middle of this performance and the looks of surprise from Carreras and Domingo are 100% genuine
The second tenor singing was Placido Domingo and the third in the centre is Jose Carreras both Spanish tenors. Love the fun they has when they matched Luciano with the vibrato. Most probably well rehearsed but a surprise and delight for the audience
The other two are Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras. Jose. ( the shorter dark haired one), hadn't been long in remission from Leukaemia when he did this.
They were very good friends and had fun. Did you notice that Pavarotti was chewing gum? Have you checked out Andrea Bocelli yet? Pavarotti claimed that Bocelli was the best he had ever heard. Bocelli sang at Pavarotti's funeral. Check out Fall on Me. It is Andrea singing with his son Matteo. Andrea sings everything from opera to pop. He is also blind. Side note: Pavarotti had an affair. Resulting in a daughter. She inherited his singing talent and is studying opera.
From the left - Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, and Luciano Pavarotti. Three INCREDIBLE tenors. Is Luciano the greatest of the three? Maybe, I guess there are elements of personal preference in there, but if he is it's by only a tiny margin - the other two are both exceptional, and QUITE capable of stealing a show on their own.
LUCIANO PAVAROTTI, JOSÉ CARRERAS Y PLÁCIDO DOMINGO...DOS ESPAÑOLES Y UN ITALIANO, PARA MI EL MEJOR DE PAVAROTTI...AUNQUE CARRERAS Y DOMINGO SON EXCELENTES TENORES...PERO LUCIANO ES EL DIVO, EL DIOS DE LA ÓPERA!!
