The Songbook works as a fantastic 40W amplifier to plug in your headphones or electric guitar with the quarter inch jack. While this feature is on both, we highly recommend the Songbook if you don't intend to use it as a AM/FM Radio or if you only want to connect wirelessly using your smart device. You may lose out on a bit of sound quality compared to the Max, but it still sounds great!
Our favorite feature on the Songbook Max is the inclusion of the digital display which makes a huge difference when combined with the larger speakers, additional tweeter (only on the Max), and equalizer controls. Therefore, the Max performs great across the frequency ranges for optimal sound, more like a bookshelf speaker. The bluetooth operates perfectly and is super simple to connect, no hassles, no complaints!
Both units have bluetooth capabilities and work very well streaming through your smart device. The sound quality is great and really performs best in the mid-ranges with the only short coming being in the bass and sub-bass ranges. Given the specified 40hz-20khz, this isn't surprising, but it can be noticeable. Thankfully, the equalizer allows some improvement to push a bit more bass through the smaller speakers.
These units are great for indoor or outdoor use. I actually plan to take one of the models camping so stayed tuned for a future video about how that works out...Visually, they're the epitome of glamping, right? Not parks and rec level glamping, but up there! (if you know, you know)
