An extremely popular, useful and effective leg attack, the toe hold is a powerful submission tool, not only on its own, but in combination with other attacks from a variety of positions. In this video, I break down the mechanics of how toe holds work and show several opportunities for attacking with this submission. Hope you like it.
Big shoutout to Savage Fightwear for the awesome rash guard I have on in this video. They have some really dope gear, so check them out on IG @savagefightwear.

I like the casual 'I have seen a lot of feet get broken in competition with this thing.' 😅

I love how you quickly drop little bits of wisdom with your grips and transitions that happen so fast that if you blink you’ll miss it. But if you rewind a few times, you have a treasure trove of stuff to work with.

I used to squeeze Captains of Crush 3.5 and I love this submission. I do it by squeezing the center of the foot, it's much more painful and dangerous, but it requires more finger strength.

The only thing I fear more than toe holds is your rash guard👊🏻

That catch from the omaplatta is freaking gold! But one thing I don't understand... if you have equal opportunity for a heel hook and a toe hold, why would you ever choose the toe hold?

When are you at risk of getting hit with a counter toe hold? Specifically, in positions like 5:05, couldn’t your opponent defend by extending the leg, and then enter their own toe hold on your left foot? Besides “getting to it first” who would have the advantage in these positions? Awesome video as always!!
@KnightJiuJitsu
@KnightJiuJitsu 2 года назад
Definitely a concern with lots of leg attacks, toe holds included, that you may be susceptible to counter attacks. The one around 5:05 doesn’t really have a threat of this because he doesn’t have access to my legs. Typically the main thing to look at in leg entanglements is who is capturing and controlling the knee line - that person is typically in control and safer.

@@KnightJiuJitsu It means i am at the the bottom of full mount and they are at the top position. And when they see oppotunities, they can work their way up, from their knees still on the ground beside my obliques, to their knees being under my armpit and then they got them on my shoulders. They knell on my shoulders, it is very uncomfortable and also restrain your range of motions. Hope that help :)

And once i did try go for an leg raise with the hip off the ground to like, wrap my legs around their shoulders/neck/head to push them back to the ground, but apparently, either my legs were too short to do so, or my opponent is that tall

@@nguyenhoangthai7652 - People are extremely unstable when they are mounted with their knees on your shoulders. Bringing your arms completely under them and pushing to free your shoulders works in most cases. I will try to make a video.

I get to toe holds very often, but I don't extend the foot at all. I keep the foot and leg in an L shape, and twist the foot directly facing the toes to the inside of the opposing foot. 80% of the time, I get it from the half guard, but the rest is in scrambles since I'm so used to snagging feet at this point. Honestly, I do my best to not go for them anymore, since they were coming too easy for me.
