Hello dear TOEFL candidates,
Welcome to our podcast on the TOEFL integrated writing task! If you are planning to take the TOEFL exam, you are familiar with the different test sections. One of the challenging sections is the integrated writing task, where you will have to read a passage and then listen to a lecture on the same topic. Your task is to write a coherent essay by combining the information from both sources. Sounds intimidating, doesn't it? Don't worry. In this podcast, we will break down this task and provide tips and tricks to score well.
So, what exactly is the TOEFL integrated writing task? Simply put, it assesses your ability to integrate information from multiple sources and construct a well-written essay. This task is designed to test your reading, listening, and writing skills simultaneously, just like in real-life academic situations.
Let's discuss some key points when addressing the integrated writing task.
Firstly, you will have a total of 20 minutes to complete this task. You will have 3 minutes to read the passage and take notes, followed by 2 minutes to listen to the lecture. The remaining 15 minutes will be for writing your essay.
Secondly, you will be scored on four main criteria: your ability to summarize the main points from the reading and lecture, how well you organize and connect the information, your correct grammar and vocabulary, and the overall coherence and cohesion of your essay.
