I remember when this aired the first time. "We have a big annoucment". One of my favorite movies at my early adult life was Tom's Freddie Got Fingered which is fucking sick 🤣
Of course he was a pioneer. All of the jackass videos and movies and the thousands of other people copying that format all took major inspiration from Tom Green
Tom Green went out of his way to make Monica feel at home and relaxed. She looked so relieved to be herself with someone and not constantly be chased by the paparazzi and tabloid reporters. People see Tom as a troll but to me, he's a decent human being who cares.
Tom Green defies media, while making fun of it; supports a small business around his hometown, while treating Monica as the human being she was, during a terrible moment for her; and creates a great comedic episode. LEGEND
Tom Green was way ahead of his time on this. He knew Monica was someone the president took advantage of and not this horrible person that a lot of people made her out to be.
Everyone I knew/know has a crush on Monica. Even dudes that just got married said they'd have preferred Monica. This country's not as dumb as some people make it out to be.
Tom showed the world the real Monica Lewinsky. Monica's hearty appreciation and enthusiasm for Tom's bizarre, twisted humour and shenanigans makes her a delightfully rare bird. And how could anyone not be won over by that her infectious laugh and smile? My kind of girl! This episode was gold from start to finish!
I think the whole reason nobody talked bad about her during the whole presidential fun thing, is because she’s just so cool and seems like such a sweet woman
His mom with her hand over his mouth after he screams in the restaurant and his dad said "Little Beaver" and he starts screaming again was probably the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. :D
@Wes 76 Imagine yourself as an impressionable young girl working for a president- if you can. Try to put yourself in a 24 year old girl's shoes. A whore? No. Bill Clinton is the whore.
Tom Green actually trolled the media and mocked them for being mysoginistic towards Monica. It's really admirable what he did because she admits in her John Oliver interview that Bill Clinton and the media made her suicidal.
Monica was really a sweet girl it seemed. I feel bad for her to this day. The Clinton family and their media machine really destroyed her life at 24 years old. I hate the Clintons they are human shit
@Mister Happy she is a victim and was treated completely differently from the man who participated with enthusiastic consent. It is just as misogynist as many of the other women you mention, while also being the most high profile. She was ridiculed and raked over the coals while big Bill sat pretty in power getting high fived. You only have to watch a jay leno set from the time to get it. It was gross and you are very very very wrong.
Tom Green, a Canadian frome tiny Ottawa got MONICA LEWINSKY at the height of the clinton scandal to come to tiny Vanier (a really shitty suburb of Ottawa) to stand ontop of the LITTLE BEAVER (innuendo) restaurant and talk about fabric. Think about how crazy that is.
@@williamepperson3443 Exactly I’m too lazy to google when the scandal even happened but this is from what 2001? Bush was already doing his thang with Bin Laden and them bois Truth is she was probably starting to become an afterthought at this point. Still famous enough that some dirt hole town in Canada is gonna blow their load at the sight of her or relevant enough to an Entertainment Tonight that they’ll use a few minutes of air time to cut in on the “engagement announcement to Tom Green” (lol) who at the time was pretty popular amongst the High school/college demographic. Shit was funny tho
@@williamepperson3443 This wasn't the height of the scandal (about a year or two late) but Clinton was still in office in February 2000 when this aired.
Anyone who can handle TG for that long is a Saint. She did such a great job; what sport. Also, his mom's a saint for raising that maniac comedic genius.
Amazing chemistry between the two, strangely enough. Really heartwarming to see Tom’s parents get into it, they’ve been through so much of Tom’s shit and finally got to see their son as a massive cultural icon for a decent period of time.
he seems to have a way wiht people . hes always been like that ever since ive seen him doing shows and stuff on tv i guess he just makes people feel comfortable
You can tell Tom gets his senes of humour from his parents. As for him putting them through hell I’m not sure that’s the right way of putting it. Secretly I think they got a kick out of most of his pranks.
Monica seems like such a sweet person. I never understood why people raked her over the coals so much when she was only a young adult. A lot of us made mistakes in our early 20s 🤷🏻♀️
Really? You dont know why? Well I sure fucking hope you dont vote Democrat. Because democrats are why. She's lucky the Clintons didnt put her in a body-bag.
@@naRevolution Seems like you don't know... Tell us why we should shun Monica, for some reason, when her only "crime" was being too nice to Bill Clinton.
@@jmp01a24 I'm saying it was the media that shunned her. Because she went against the Clintons. Doesn't take a doctorate to figure out what I was saying. Seems like you're an idiot.
I love how Richard is genuinely pissed off a few times, but in this special he's really enjoying himself. Almost egging Tom on at dinner a little bit, whereas Mary Jane will NOT allow certain things to happen, ha! Love them all.
They are a true testament to the infinite patience of the Canadian people. And Tom may have been a monumental pain in the ass at times but he's intelligent and successful and you could do a hell of a lot worse as a parent, lol
I remember this wen it came out. This was when she was known because of bill clinton. Se never did any tv shows and was hiding for months and all of a sudden she's with Tom Green on his show! Savage.
@@bennyrobinson1935 I think OP is probably young or not American. I wish I didn't know about it... It's absurd that everyone in the world is aware of a 25 year old blowjob that they neither gave nor received.
I think the genius behind this is more sublime than anyone really realizes at first ..its basically a way of showing how crazy Everyone gets over the slightest bit of gossip that really has no relevance on their own particular lives but for some reason were still captivated by the celebrity gossip and appeal regardless how nonsensical it may be!
Absolutely. His whole thing is also essentially going against the way a situation is "supposed to be". Like how they fight with lightsabers at Tim Horton's, and Tom crassly announces how much they spent on the champagne and then basically has a childish meltdown, all in a high-brow, upper-class restaurant. His act of denying the invisible rules that everybody goes along with, shows how silly they are. It's beautiful
Haha, I almost forgot this ever happened, but now it brings back memories. I must have been only 13 when I watched this when it first aired. Tom Green was a awesome in these days.
Such a hero move from both. Monica for doing this in a very emotional (and quite undeserved) portion of her life and Tom for having a mind that will conceive of this and actually follow through to make us all see what the heck we were doing. This is what comedy should be a mirror for the world. Amazing content.
undeserved?! lmfao she did nothing but make millions because of the fame she gained from giving a blowjob to a MARRIED man in the whitehouse. its well deserved. also, shes jewish so she gets away with it
I'm 12 minutes in and entirely in love with monica lol. I was a kid when she was in the news so I didn't really understand what was going on but she's so sweet and genuinely seems to like Tom. I think Tom should have her on his new podcast and RU-vid channel for a reunion!
Seeing the commercials and advertisements for MTV were very nostalgic for me! Hard to believe this was twenty years ago!! I remember watching this back in the day. They re-ran these episodes constantly on MTV back then, kind of like they do Ridiculousness today.
Thanks for the upload. MTV played this special a handful of times then almost immediately after Tom had the cancer scare and the cancer special dominated MTV for what felt like forever. The cancer special was great but it didn't need to be played every single day almost every other hour. Then the Tom Green show quietly ended and this special was never shown again.
Monica seems like such a sweet person, shame what happened to her but it seems like she’s doing good now. Also Tom’s parents are the best, they’re so nice.
And then that crochety ED patient news anchor tries to call it a hoax even though neither Tom nor Monica ever mentioned anything concrete as to what the announcement was supposed to be about. Basically, the ravenous, sensationalist media started drooling over a story they fully concocted in their tiny little brains, Tom and Monica just didn't deny or confirm anything, and then, when the shitty media ended up with egg on their face, they make a miserably futile attempt to save face by acting like they were intentionally misled or lied to.
@@blakfloyd Good point. Media tried to play victim when they were acting predatory towards them by chasing them around and writing misleading/humiliating takes.
Tom treated her like a person instead of a spectacle. He didn't abuse and berate her over her personal life like the entire rest of the world. It was probably a really nice change of pace from every other moment of her life at the time. We almost killed that woman...
Oh yeah, she was in denial at first, but she's was loving ever moment with him. I noticed how he was always put his arm around her and she never said anything about it. He made her laugh so hard at the dinner table, endorphins releasing, champagne, dinner...etc.
Aww man the old commercials.. All that amazing technical stuff.. I was working for Dell computers about this time in history in my late teensish... I miss back in the day.. thank you for these videos that bring an old 41 yr old elderly woman back to my youth 😂❤
You gotta remember at this time Tom Green was the top guy at MTV around this time. His show was really popular. This was like a year or 2 before jackass premiered I think. I remember watching this episode when it premiered. I was like 11. I makes me miss the 90s so much I wanna cry so bad.
Yeah. Tom was basically the only successful comedy programming MTV had during the time period starting when Beavis and Butthead got canceled until the debut of Jackass. Daria was a good show and had plenty of funny moments but its focus was on cerebral comedy and making the viewer appreciate the quality of writing. There was a good year or so where MTV couldn't get their shit together when it came to providing fun, dumb, carefree laughs. Tom sure as shit breathed much needed life into that gap in their programming.
@@3941602 Well Tom Green wasn't making shows, MTV needed content so they got the CKY guys and paired them with Johnny Knoxville, hence, Jackass. It was born out of TG's cancer recovery.
I completely forgot about this. As an edgy teen at the time, i don't think i truly appreciated this for the act of kindness and compassion it clearly was. Dope-ass move on Tom Green's part. Legend.
Same here. I might've come around a few years before you but I blame it on how society basically brainwashes us to like specific body types and just because she's a few pounds heavier than what we see in magazines we're conditioned to not like body types like hers.
She's also a really awesome person. Not that I know her or anything, but from what I've seen of her in the media, both then and now, she's a class act. Her interview with John Oliver is great.
I remember watching this as a kid thinking this was funny. Now watching it again as an adult and really thinking this is super funny! Now that I understand all the jokes. And I just love his parents. They're such good sports.
I remember when this first aired. Looking back it was refreshing to see the human side and the good sport she really was..... She's actually super cool
proud to be from Ottawa! i lived close to Toms parents for years. amazingly patient parents!great people! its very nestalgic to the see the difference of then till now!
I vividly remember being a preteen and watching Tom Green at my grandmas house. He was humping a dead horse and she walked in and scolded me and my cousin who were on the floor laughing. She said we were never to watch that type of nonsense in her home. Random, but this video has me feeling nostalgic. Gold medal to homey that posted this 🥇
Imagine bringing the infamous Mistress of a World Leader with you to your old High School, then telling the entire assembly they can cut school. What is Tom Green's Bucket List?
