Thank you for watching! This is a basic lore overview video that goes over the main points in the history of the Tomb Kings, if you want to read more I’ve included a couple of book recommendations (with their links) in the video description. One of the main challenges for this episode was trying to represent with visual cues the Great Land before it was transformed into the wasteland that is today. Let me know in the comments what you think. Remember to watch at the highest resolution available! Hope you enjoy the video!!
really cool vids!!! always an auto-click when I see these vids on my recommended!!! am a fan of everything you do!!! btw what mods did you use for the vid? I saw some lizardman units I didn't recognize
These just get better and better, you guys are high quality tv level of lore story tellers! Thank you so much for putting so much effort into the Warhammer lore
@@TheBookofChoyer wait wait wait, I thought this was an official video since the voice work was so perfect! Do you do audio books or somthing like that? Rare to hear a voice this clear.
i would add the book of gotrek and felix that take place in Lybaras. It doesnt tell much about the lore, but give a good insight about the TK themselves, and the difference between them and the dead rised by vampires. Also the army codex 6th edition is great for the stories.
I like how Settra woke up and immediately got to subjugating everything in Nehekhara, and only after he had conquered it he sat down and asked "alright, what the fuck is going on."
Tomb Kings: (Fighting each other) "I AM THE MOST WORTHY TO BE KING." Settra rolling up: " Yo boisss! Heard you were talking shit about who should rule MY empire."
Oh mighty, Settra... Great King, the Imperishable, Khemrikhara, The Great King of Nehekhara, King of Kings, Opener of the Way, Wielder of the Divine Flame, Punisher of Nomads, The Great Unifier, Commander of the Golden Legion, Sacred of Appearance, Bringer of Light, Father of Hawks, Builder of Cities, Protector of the Two Worlds, Keeper of the Hours, Chosen of Ptra, High Steward of the Horizon, Sailor of the Great Vitae, Sentinel of the Two Realms, The Undisputed, Begetter of the Begat, Scourge of the Faithless, Carrion-feeder, First of the Charnel Valley, Rider of the Sacred Chariot, Vanquisher of Vermin, Champion of the Death Arena, Mighty Lion of the Infinite Desert, Emperor of the Shifting Sands, He Who Holds The Sceptre, Great Hawk Of The Heavens, Arch-Sultan of Atalan, Waker of the Hierotitan, Monarch of the Sky, Majestic Emperor of the Shifting Sands, Champion of the Desert Gods, Breaker of the Ogre Clans, Builder of the Great Pyramid, Terror of the Living, Master of the Never-Ending Horizon, Master of the Necropolises, Taker of Souls, Tyrant to the Foolish, Bearer of Ptra's Holy Blade, Scion of Usirian, Scion of Nehek, The Great, Chaser of Nightmares, Keeper of the Royal Herat, Founder of the Mortuary Cult, Banisher of the Grand Hierophant, High Lord Admiral of the Deathfleets, Guardian of the Charnal Pass, Tamer of the Liche King, Unliving Jackal Lord, Dismisser of the Warrior Queen, Charioteer of the Gods, He Who Does Not Serve, Slayer off Reddittras, Scarab Purger, Favoured of Usirian, Player of the Great Game, Liberator of Life, Lord Sand, Wrangler of Scorpions, Emperor of the Dunes, Eternal Sovereign of Khemri's Legions, Seneschal of the Great Sandy Desert, Curserer of the Living, Regent of the Eastern Mountains, Warden of the Eternal Necropolis, Herald of all Heralds, Caller of the Bitter Wind, God-Tamer, Master of the Mortis River, Guardian of the Dead, Great Keeper of the Obelisks, Deacon of the Ash River, Belated of Wakers, General of the Mighty Frame, Summoner of Sandstorms, Master of all Necrotects, Prince of Dust, Tyrant of Araby, Purger of the Greenskin Breathers, Killer of the False God's Champions, Tyrant of the Gold Dunes, Golden Bone Lord, Avenger of the Dead, Carrion Master, Eternal Warden of Nehek's Lands, Breaker of Djaf's Bonds...
I love how one of Settra's titles are "Emperor of the Shifting Sands", and then six titles later, it becomes "Majestic Emperor of the Shifting Sands" Lol
The Tomb Kings are probably my favorite faction in Warhammer fantasy. They have a feel like something out of old Hollywood. You know what I mean: Dashing upper class explorer discovers an ancient tomb, full of riches beyond imagination, but also filled with legions of undead yearning to be free.
@@Vanic00 Same as there is a reason Nehekhara has never really expanded beyond it's own borders, kept in check just as much by orc, lizard and tribesmen rabble, and of course has just as much infighting as the Elector Counts.
Its an ancient ritual devised by the mortuary cult to eventually summon the the great gods of Khemri: Djaf The Tormentor, Asaph The Sky Dragon, and the Winged Dragon of Ptra. It was determined to be the only way to regain their favor after the desolation of Khemri, however its difficult to gather so much magical energy so they devised a way to generate *Duel Energy* through playing a children's card-game using powerful enchanted cards, and storing this energy in seven artifacts of incredible power, known as the millennium items. These items, in addition to being able to contain great power, also grant their wielder various unique magical abilities. Once sufficient energy had been harnessed, the plan was to gather all seven items together along with the three Khemrian god cards and finally begin the ritual. Unfortunately, one of the millennium items was a relic of nagash and had been tainted with a shard of his soul. This allowed it to retain some amount of his intellegence and knowledge, and craves to return to its master. And so its quest began to create its own corrupted version of this ritual as a means to return its dark master to life instead...
Alcadizzar haunted the halls of Nagashizzar for days, calling plaintively for a woman that only he could see. His mind shattered by guilt and the torments he’d suffered at the hands of Nagash, he eventually found his way through the fortress gates and onto the shores of the Sour Sea. Still clutching Nagash’s crown, the last king of Khemri disappeared into the wastelands in search of redemption. There are those who believe he wanders there still. They searched the fortress for the largest furnace they could find and filled it with charcoal from the enormous bins that stood outside the forges. Eshreegar and Eekrit took turns working the bellows, until the fire breathed like a living thing and the heat scorched their whiskers. Then they went and raided the nearest mine shaft for all the sky-stone they could carry. ‘Are you sure this is necessary?’ the Master of Treacheries said. ‘Without doubt,’ Eekrit said, tossing a hunk of sky-stone into the furnace. Eshreegar winced. ‘Think of the wealth you’re throwing away! Enough to buy your way back into good graces with the Under-Empire three times over! Enough to make yourself a Grey Lord if you wish!’ Another chunk of stone flew into the furnace’s roaring maw. ‘The mountain is mine now, Eshreegar,’ the former warlord growled. ‘All mine. At this point, I’m richer than the Horned God himself.’ The Master of Treacheries eyed the flames dubiously. ‘What if Velsquee goes back on his word and forgets he ever agreed to give you the mountain?’ Eekrit sniffed. ‘He can either have the mountain or the fell blade. Not both.’ They had recovered the sword and tossed it back into its lead container with as little physical contact as possible. Now it was hidden deep within the bowels of the mountain, where only the two of them would ever find it. ‘If he’s smart, he’ll take the blade back and call it even, and Velsquee is nothing if not very, very smart.’ He threw another two pieces of stone into the furnace, then gestured at the bellows. ‘Stoke the furnace while I get the cart.’ Eshreegar sighed and went to the long, wooden lever. With a grunt, he leapt up and grabbed it, then pulled down with all his weight. Air flowed into the furnace, causing it to roar. Within minutes, the skystone turned molten and the heat within changed from orange-white to a bright, baleful green. Eekrit returned a moment later, dragging a small wooden cart. Piled within was every piece of Nagash’s armour and bone they could find. The former warlord stared down at the remains and shook his head. ‘I still don’t see how we missed his right hand. It couldn’t have just crawled off on its own.’ Eshreegar shook his head. ‘We searched every inch of that dais. If it were there, we would have found it. Nagash’s prisoner must have taken it with him, along with the crown. Nothing else makes sense.’ Eekrit sighed irritably. ‘Perhaps.’ He reached in and rummaged through the pile. ‘Do you really think this will destroy him for good?’ Eshreegar asked, eyeing the roaring furnace. ‘I have no idea,’ Eekrit replied. ‘This is for my own personal pleasure.’ He grunted in satisfaction, and pulled Nagash’s grinning skull from the pile. Eekrit stared at it for a long moment, peering into the depths of its empty eye sockets. ‘I’ve been wanting to do this for a very long time,’ he said, and tossed the skull into the flames.
you see, this is why i love warhammer fantasy over 40k. you get character interactions and in depth stories of stuff that happened thousands of years ago. you would never get something even half as cool as the story of nagash being so deeply explored in 40k. it'd be a lore blurb that was vaugely mentioned and never really explored deeper.
The story of how the Skaven gave Alcadizaar the fellblade and kept him alive in his fight against nagash is one of the most hype things I'd read in a while
Geez, you know it's an incredible video when it gets me hyped up and excited the entire time while watching it. Especially when I've already read what's going to happen lol Also fun drinking game: take a shot of water every time I say Khemri and really get the phlem going so you can stay hydrated during the video
This is waaaaay better than the Mummy movies Also, I really like how you pronounced Khemri. I thought it was kem-ri, but this is more egyptian-like or exotic
They only did it because if Nagash had succeeded, he would have had the numbers needed to cleanse the old world of their taint completely. All their actions, good or bad, are done in the self conceives notion that their race is superior and every skaven thinks they're the greatest of their kind
I just read finish Rise of Nagash. Having played total war warhammer 2, knowing the locations of the great cities and other landmarks totally added to the reading experience. Definitely would recommend. There is a e-book humble bundle with 7 days left that includes this and other series from the Warhammer universe, thats where I got mine.
Someone will have to explain to me why is it that 1) their monuments are skellly faced 2) their infantry is supposedly made entirely by people of the kingdom, yet they do not reproduce, so their numbers can only diminish in 4k years of battles
skelly armies can be resurrected again and again. Their monuments are skelly faced because they honored their dead and gods of death more than any other
A lot of them were new monuments after the Nagash deed. As long as the Pyramid of their lord intact, the legion could regen there and march again. Same as the TK and Heroes. You need to destroy their pyramids to defeat TKs.
For your first question, it is stated that death is considered sacred and become more important than the old gods. So it is normal for them to put skelly face on everything, for religious purposes. It’s like how Christian put crosses on all churches and how daoists make Yin-yang symbol everywhere in their household.
fuc*ing amazingly done! I was just a bit confused as Settra was depicted as a skeleton in the early part of the video although I guess he still had a human appearance. Thumbs up!
Great thanks to you. This year me with my girl are going to visit LARP as undead and watching a video like this is so much easier and enjoyable than reading a pack of books and the army book.
Comments for the algorithm gods and views for the youtuber.... and thank you for the amazing videos... your the best of the loremasters in warhammer fantasy lore
One small detail; the plague that was set loose upon Nehekhara was by Nagash's command however it was not he or his minions that carried it out. Oh no, he made us of some 'allies' that would later betray him and save the world (if only to save themselves of course).
Thanks, I'm new to Warhammer 2 and bought Tomb Kings DLC. Really like the play, but didn't understand any of the back story. Thanks for the amazing content!
I wonder if there's any potential for an eventual post-TWW3 prequel campaign set during the Golden Age of Nehekhara, perhaps setting it concurrent with the War of the Beard? CA does seem to love making prequel campaigns...
You deserve way more subcriber man every video you make is perfect and epic when TWIII will come out i'll wait your ogre kingoms video! And know that french people watch yur video too
Thanks for your words! I'm looking forward to TWIII. Looking forward to Ogre Kingdoms, Chaos Dwarfs and of course full Chaos unleashed🔥🔥 We'll see what the future brings.
The Tomb Kings......Once they were humans, like the Ancient Egyptians of our history.....The forces of Good & Evil have been at war for an eternity. The Ancient Gods protected us, yes, the Angels of the Skies and God of Christendom protected our ancestors.
@Templar Knight This is actually really frustrating, 'cause it's true - The Skaven joining Archaeon makes no sense. They might as well have let Nagash finnish the ritual if they are willing to join Chaos and effectively destroy themselves anyway.
Yeah I hate the Endtimes too. Because of that crap, we have the non canon Age of Sigmar. It is non canon because like Disney Star Wars, it sucks, no one likes it, and therefore, it is not canon.
@Templar Knight yeah I agree with your comment on the Skaven allied themselves with Archaon during the late End Times, and it which was like wtf to myself. And not only that, the Skaven should have fight against Archaon the everchosen who was planning to destroy the world.
I found out this channel like hours ago, I must say, you are doing the BEST thing ever !!! And you do it proffesionally !!! I am sooo glad I found you !! Warhammer should be a movie, or a tv series or an endless list of movies !!
Im excited to start reading the novels, I love High fantasy!! I dont know why it took me so long to figure out the difference between this and warhammer 40,000
I just finished reading the Nagash omnibus was old lore retconned in it? Because in the books Nagash marched on Nehekara to conquer it bringing his undead legion against Ka-Sabar I think it was and that was the first time Nehekara became aware of the undead horde and his necromancy. He eventually marched on the holy city of Mahrak but couldn't break though their defences. It being the city of worship it was protected by sphinxes that Nagash couldn't break through. His brothers wife Neferem was the link between man and their gods and she was on Nagash's control he killed her which broke the covenant with the gods which took away the magic gifted upon Nehekarans the Sphinxes disappeared and all the Ushabti lost the blessings of power bestowed upon them. Then when he went to assault the city Lahmia turned on Nagash. Lamashizzar King of Lahmia used black powder weapons he got through trade with Cathay to blast apart the undead army and Nagash. All his immortals except Arkhan were killed. Arkhan who had fallen out of favor with Nagash turned on him and aided Lamashizzar leading to his imprisonment by him. Nagash severely wounded and near death fled and that's where he found the mountain with the warpstone and begun work on Nagashizzar.
That's a definitely fantastic and well spoken content, even for me who is not a native english speaker, it is very clear and your tone is understandable. You're a great lecturer, and you made it even more glorious than the story was. Thank you very much!
Settra in Lore: Madafaka who runs over anyone who dares to question his rule Settra in TW:WH: Skelebro who'll always be willing to ally with you, no matter what faction you are, as long as you're strong enough.
pretty sure reason why skaven helped is cause they are a creation of tzeenth and if nagash was able to win he would be a huge threat to chaos. thats my theory A GAM- *blam*
Khalida was one of the few to give all living refuge in her domain during the End Times, humans, dwarves but mainly halflings were welcome and cared for. She was actually one of the few Lords to give without caring for anything in return, her obvious hatred for Vampires was the only stain in an otherwise remarkable altruistic personality, eventually she even forgave her sister and they died hand in hand. Settra, evil or pragmatic? Remember that this tale wasn´t written by the victors, we would probably be reading about Settra´s paradise if his disciples had been in charge of historical writings, surely the mishandling of a few Dark Elves would have been a footnote describing mere insubordinance and correction. Nevertheless his narcissism can´t escape history and neither can his achievements, was he cruel or did he just do what most warlords do in their rise to power? Taking the two Lords mentioned above the Tomb Kings are perhaps the only faction representing all there is, they aren´t boxed in to a certain category like most other factions. They made deals with other nations, behaved civilised at times but protected their lands fiercely, sounds like normality.
@@Valsorayu If we were to compare the various WH factions to modern human behaviour then absolutely, the Tomb Kings resemble us the most. Most other factions are just boxed ideologies. As for modern humans, we have doubled our global population since the 70s, we will double it again by 2050 and Earth can only take so much, any talk of global population control is seen as evil, we as a species would rather wipe out the planet. Perhaps we are just all very well behaved Skaven :-D.
great content but I am still wondering who this "Henry" guy is you are talking about so many times. Is that one of the Tomb Kings from Khemri? (pronounced like you would "Camry" in the US, in case anyone is wondering). Thats a funny name for a Tomb King though.
Man Nagash is a real bastard, isn’t he. He’s the the one who killed Nehekara. Tomb Kings are one of my favorites. (Despite there obvious arrogance, I’m not to fond of this particular aspect) But the are freakin cool otherwise. The Lizardmen are my other favorites. Then Kislev. Ultimately all factions are freakin epic. Chaos are the only scum that are not preferable. But where would Warhammer be without them, so I do give them the respect for there part.
Why you don’t have more subs is a big questionmark! The video’s are absolutely amazing. I hope more warhammer lore fanatics find there way to the channel! Keep it up. Looking forward to the next video!!! Perhaps about the War of the Beard...hint...hint...😉👍🏻
