These are all solid points for first timer P.C assemblers. The only one I would add would be;keep a bottle 100% iso alcohol and lint free cloth. If you accidentally touch any of the gold connectors on the P.C.I.e devices, then clean the visible finger prints off.
when i built my first pc i overlooked the cpu power connector and i spent three hours trying to figure out the issue and cried a lil cause i thought i broke it with static or something
Dude! I work as IT techsupport and when customers with selfbuilt PCs are outside of my housecall range i simply show them this video. Voilá! I should almost pay you money. Thanks dude
Oh yeah i did the whole forgetting to put thermal paste on after removing the stock cooler and fried a cpu a few years back and i still remember that small poof of smoke out the motherboard ;(
If it beeps but no display it means the graphics card,my pc was beeping and what i did i removed the graphics card clean it up little bit and plug it in,it worked
Hello! I built a PC today and connected the monitor to motherboard via HDMI cable..monitor is showing no signal. Should I connect the monitor to graphic card?
Thank you so much! I was struggling to find out why my pc wasn’t displaying until I saw this video. I’m glad to say everything works now. Super helpful video THANK YOU
Great video. I've always neglected to install all the motherboard riser screws. Your videos has changed my mind. It has shown me the importance of having all the screws in place. Only thing about this video that is sort of confusing is thermal paste. It just seems like it's too little to me. Overall, this is a very informative video!
i build my first own rig a feew weeks ago and i made several of this mistakes, most noticeably, not screwing the risers, fortunatelly none of them damaged the pc or the components, i ended up noticing them and solving them on my own and now its perfect
Just bought a pc from a buddy of mine tried to start it up first time after installing some ram in it didn’t do anything... turns out I knocked a wire loose and I had no clue what the problem was without this video. You saved someone’s life today good sir 👍
Thank you so much for this video. Had an issue with a new build, all plugged in and nothing works. After watching this I figured that I had a riser that shorted the mobo...
can i ask a question about the pc power supply..if i am traveling overseas and bringing my pc with me do you just replace the power supply that is compatible to the country or maybe just replacing the plug(only) without changing the power supply that you already have in the pc..and also how to know which power supply is the right choice..is it just by purchasing a power supply doesn't matter what brand it is or the exact same brand as the first but with same amount of watts as your first power supply or maybe anything that is near the range as the first.
Using 700watt EVGA power supply. When testing with a paperclip or the tool provided, power supply fan turns on. When plugging into motherboard, power supply fan remains off and doesnt send off power.
Yes that's what I was running with no issues. I'd get a 750w just to be on the safe side if you can afford it since PSUs are usually warrantied for 3-10 years so you'll want them to be future proof.
Great video for a newbie. I think the hardest part for me, is connecting the wires up, because I have big hands. Sometimes I have to use needle nose pliers in the tight spots, which I am always afraid of dropping them on the motherboard.
Just built my first pc tonight, vga motherboard driver was not installed, I was convinced I bent to motherboard too far. I decided to try the graphics card HDMI and now I feel like a complete idiot.
*Soon I'll be building my 3rd PC, and as it's going to be a high end desktop computer, I watched this video just in case I forgot certain things, because I built my last PC in 2013 :)*
Hey William we are Australian but don't have any commercial interest with any parties - usually where you pay slightly more for parts, you'll get much better service.
So I have a question might be dumb but I want to know that way I can fix it now I recently built my pc with just the cpu, motherboard, gpu, and pwr supply so I’m still missing my ram and hard drive. When I turn the pc on it turns on and off and no display so did I 100 percent build it wrong or is this happening just because I haven’t gotten my ram or hard drive yet
Haha yeeesss, tried to connect my hdmi in gpu and it worked, i did it before i reset my cmos. Haha didnt think it would work, lost home but yeeeeeessssss! 😂😂😂
I built my second pc today and ran into a huge problem. The system wouldnt do anything when I pressed the power button . THE FUCKING power supply was faulty. Man that was annoying spending hours trying to fix it.
Are drivers needed for mother board to read that there is a hard drive connected? I've been trying to install windows and my computer can't find a hard drive to install it on to. Do you know why this could happen?
Thank you so much for the awesome video, I've been having a problem with my PC. I was doing some bitcoin mining for a few days and kept my PC running day and night when it started shutting off by itself. Can this be my thermal paste that's not applied correctly and causes my CPU to overheat after long times of running? I'm really worried, I struggled keeping it on last night but its working quite today. Haven't me problems again.
I made the second mistake. Cost me a power supply due to me not knowing what was wrong. D: The problem itself won't break the PSU, just being stupid will. ALSO EARLY!
I built my very 1st pc about a month ago but I still couldnt use it up to this day. After I installed the OS the pc restarted and at the boot up screen a window popped up stating that windows cannot be installed, to install windows, retry the installation or something like that. searched the web for anything that could help me but none of it work. Can u help me here mate? its getting really frustrating and sad. i spent so much money on this pc and i dont want it to just get wasted.
I have a small problem. I've played GTA V nothing happend, StarCraft II all the series withour multi nothing happend. But When I play Starcaft for long time with multi my computer shuts down (also playing ashes of singularity: Escaltion). I cannot turn it on. Power light is ON like it was working but pressing power button doesn't take any effect. When I Turn switch of power supply OFF and wait for a minute and take to ON posision computer starts normal. Is is thermal?
Ive got a fun one. Wrong bios version. Or outdated bios. Had trouble getting 7600k working with a cheap motherboard, had to use a 6600k to update the bios first and then reconnect.
Didn't plug in CPU power, didn't plug in the computer at all, didn't plug in the GPU PCIe power, didn't plug in the SATA power or only plugged in the SATA to the HDD or the motherboard and not the other. plugged in the power button the the wrong pins. Those are the only things I can think of.
Been cursing for thirty minutes working on my first PC build because it was boot looping. Realized I don't have memory sticks. Never facepalmed so hard in my life
My pc works perfectly but it only works perfectly with SSDs. Every time I install a hard drive my games will lag and stutter like crazy. I tried different hard drives and nothing changes. Only ssd would do the trick. Any solutions?
STATIC CHARGE BAND IS NECESSARY ? PLEASE GUIDE. ALSO CPU FAN HAS THERMAL PASTE . SHOULD WE APPLY AGAIN A THERMAL PASTE WHILE INSTALLING CPU? THANKS FOR THE USEFUL VIDEO
Thanks it helped with power not working . But before with my other build . My pc power led was green when it turns on . But now it's red ? Is that bad ?
I have tried everything. When I turn on my new build for the first time it's fans and leds will light up and the screen would detect the computer trying to communicate with the screen but no luck
I am soooo in need of this video! Gave you a like and subscribed. It took me three days to build my first PC..and all it does is start up (the lights turn on and the fans spin..) and then 5 seconds later it turns back off. It does this over and over again in an endless loop and I can not figure out what I've done wrong. Hoping this video brings some clarity to my frustrating situation...!
I am a fan of DVI, never had any issue with DVI, but with HDMI I actually had some issues in the past.. that's why I went on DVI, and its compatibility with a lot more display devices.
Error 1a: Not screwing the stand-offs all the way in properly! I failed to do that and then wondered my motherboard wasn't properly aligned to the backplate... -_-
I know this video was made a while ago but I just built my pc and it keeps turning on then off then on again repeatedly, I checked the cables like you said but it didn't help, is there another cause to this error?
My computer was showing no display, then I Shaw a troubleshooting video on YT and according I disconnected power and long pressed Cpu power button then computer turned on but it freezes after using sometime, can anyone help me ? WHAT to do ? Plz, I will sub you
Thanks man. Been trying forever to turn tv on with out a monitor, just have a tv. Plugged HDMI into the main motherboard HDMI and she went post boot and into bios recovery on my Samsung tv. Now I can play from GPU.
One of my first PC builds - I made a mistake about risers. Somehow it was causing an intermittent short. I had to return it to the computer show where I bought the mother board from. Very embarrassing.
