Megacities, cities with a population of at least 10 million, are sprouting everywhere in Africa. Cairo in Egypt, Kinshasa in the DRC and Lagos in Nigeria are already megacities, while Luanda in Angola, Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and Johannesburg in South Africa will attain the status by 2030 according to a UN report.
Abidjan in Ivory Coast and Nairobi in Kenya will surpass the 10 million threshold by 2040.
The number of people living in urban areas in Africa will double to more than 1 billion by 2040, according to the World Bank.

I visited Lagos last year. Its nothing to write home about. Dirt, air pollution, dirty tap water, epileptic electricity supply. Mostly it's too chaotic. The island is ok. People are always rushing to do something to escape poverty. Goooodddf😪

It's not poorly managed, it's growing out of colonial oppression. It took America 83 years to stop deciding political office by way of duel. In comparison, Africa is stabilizing much faster.

Lagos is an interesting city. .it's very chaotic due to traffic but it's a nice city to relax and have night fun...with more regular Electricity, better road networks, good security and a cleaner environment Lagos would be a Global Finance/Business and Entertainment Hub in the future.

The GDP of Nairobi is 49B dollars and Kenya's GDP 2020 is 109B dollars so you can get the percentage contribution to the economy of Kenya

ranking cities based on population can be misleading. Kinshasa ranks as Africa's third largest city, larger than the likes of Johannesburg, Addis Ababa, Durban, Dar es Salaam, Nairobi etc. But in terms of development and GDP it's nowhere near the top ten

The situation of Kinshasa is different. Most congolese from the interior are moving to Kinshasa because of decades of armed conflicts and poverty in the East, North and Central regions of the country. Dar es Salam and Luanda are my favorite.
