I'm gonna be real, if you spend any amount of time on the wiki, forums or reddit page talking about tridolons or eidolon farming you will meet some of the most toxic, vile and autistic screeching morons I have ever met. How he lucked out to get a chill dude is like getting a 4x3 finished on your first ever time out hunting.
Eh, it's kinda hit or miss, I'm in the same situation as Phazejump I met some nice guys who helped me get started and show me a lotta of patience and kindness now I honestly find it hard not to help someone out.
The second dream was one of gaming's best kept secrets for such a long time, I hadn't played in a while but would keep.seeing people asking about the game and if it developed an actual story yet and all the responses were " just play the second dream" and " SPOILERS WILL BE BANNED" stuff like that, such a great community
Just so you know the moment you fight corpus with sevagoth is yes replaying the moment vala looses her first crew, but if you look around the ship after that moment there's dead corpus on the ship meaning you are actually playing as sevagoth's ghost protecting you after you get knocked out.
As a longtime player of Warframe, the story you shared of Tenno helping Tenno and the community lifting together was the best thing I've heard of the game in a long time, far beyond what any story beat could outline, so thanks for sharing that! Glad to see you enjoying the game for real outside of sponsorship content, and waiting for more as the Witch Queen drops in D2 as well!
The second dream is so good, that a friend of mine completed it last year and could only say this "This mission had six years of hype to live up to and not only does it live up to that hype. It blows any expectations I had out of the water. This was so good!" I honestly believe The Second Dream is not just one of THE MOMENTS for Warframe. It is THE MOMENT for all of Warframe. Everything builds off this one moment, every system, every story beat, everything builds off The Second Dream. And I STILL love this mission myself and wish I could replay it again in blissful ignorance, just to be floored again. I haven't touched Warframe in a long while....but this video is definitely making me wanna go back and freeze folks solid with my Frost Prime or zip around with Titania Prime. Actually...I think I'm gonna go do that.
On a side note, the final choice with the lotus parallels our choices and dialogue in the end of the second dream. Making the moment even more powerful imo as we’ve truly come full circle.
I feel like space mom discovering herself as the mother of the tenno is what the next major quest will be based on. That, and us coming to grips with having the drifter as a new ally
@Urazz agreed, they promised ages ago the alignment would have some effect in game yet still nothing lol. Although I do enjoy we ended the arc on a parallel shot to where it began.
@Urazz the problem is that it wouldn't actually align well. Their alignment choices are not very good tbh, and on top of that, you'll have people game it anyways
Can’t say I’ve stepped into Warframe recently. Work, along with Destiny 2 and other games have held my attention. Wishing the game and the community all the best. Edit: Damn, there is some good stuff I’ve missed. I know this is a sponsored video for Byf, but it’s clear that he can see the effort that goes into these story elements, drawing connections and going to the same level of detail as he does on his “home turf.”
@@chippler5822 Honestly I haven't played since 2018 (or whenever Fortuna came out). I feel like my view on jumping back into Warframe is the same as a lot of people trying to jump back into Destiny.
@@c4sualcycl0ps48 yeah plus the average lack of support in onboarding from DE, fortuna was so incredibly bad that DE put a "pay your way out of it" feature in from the beginning. I really like deimos though, I don't know where war frames heading I've been just playing destiny all year
The Warframe community is absolutely great, I met some guys at Venus watching this MR 2 idiot struggling to fight low level corpus. They invited me to party and I still play with one of them and still play with the people I met through them in Destiny, Halo, Monster Hunter, and etc. this game gave me great friends and memories
Byf, I hope you see this. Just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate what you do. I started listening to your videos from the very beginning and never stopped. I know it sounds dumb but your storytelling/narration got me through some rough times. I struggled with PTSD and would wake up in the middle of the night in a violent attack that scared the hell out of my wife and kids. I hated going to sleep for the longest time because I knew I'd wake to the feeling of my heart pounding, feeling like I was dying, and scaring my family. Now years later I'm lying here next to my wife and newborn daughter (first girl) ready to go to sleep listening to your voice. The panic attacks are very rare but I fall asleep in minutes, unafraid, listening to you telling stories of my favorite fictional universe (destiny). I'm sure you'll eventually move on to another chapter in your life but I'll still have your videos downloaded so I can listen to them to fall asleep. I wish you the best and can't thank you enough for helping a random dude in the U.S. get some sleep 🙂
While Destiny 2 has nailed the weekly story episodes formula, Warframe has the wonky lore that's twisted and interesting with the quests. And yeah, the game is 100% free, not like D2's "F2P" is just a teaser, with a community that helps new players (though they can be harsh on the devs or fellow vets sometimes) instead of "lovingly" calling them blueberries. Edit: Also, damn you, Byf, for giving me so many earworms!
You were talking about music The music when you sync with umbra still gives me chills even ballas's words on the bond the operator has with the warframes is amazing
Ok, I've watched this amazing video before and loved that Byf chose to use Umbra for the final mission (because come on, who else deserves to be there at Ballas' end) and had "For Narmer" playing in the background. But oh my god, the shot at 38:14 to 38:22 of Umbra walking forwards holding the Paraceisis and then looming with the molten rays of the sun around him and the lyrics "And we all run, to the golden sun" at the same time was PURE PERFECTION. Masterful editing choice. Really hope Byf comes back to this series, he does it so well.
I would love to see you tackle more on The New War & the new Duviri quest! I'm a big fan of both Destiny & Warframe and it's awesome to see that you've made videos on both fronts :)
I just want to really thank you Byf. I know such video is not making so many views, and I know revenue is probably hardly existing for that reason. But as a person who played over 1k hours of Warframe before jumping into Destiny [and stayed for good] I really appreciate this content. It brings back awesome memories and really reminds me that this humble game was absolutely worth it. And for that I really thank you :)
This is a fantastic video. For me personally the Harrow and Octavia quests are the top. Then the ghost ship. That song was awesome. They really have done a great job with the sound in this game over the years.
The beginning of the video of you explaining your experience with the community, i have that sort of story too. I was a new player and was just playing with randos online in a mission, and i was talking to this one guy in the squad and he spent the next part of HIS week to help me, unlocking and understanding the game. And now i am one of those players now, there was a couple of people i helped out, one guy was really hating his RNG on a rare mod and I had a spare of that mod and just gave it to him, there was another player having trouble understanding the warframe limbo and i helped him understand it (of which took several hours of my time and his but I gladly did it), and just in general explaining things to players that don't understand something's. And im not the only person that does this warframes community had a ton of people like me and the guy who helped me when starting out.
I remember playing that Tempestari mission using Sevagoth. Listening to that AMAZING song. You are 100% right with the whole music route they’ve taken. ❣️
Warframe is so amazing, working on a vid right now after my 2nd playthrough. Chains of Harrow quest touched my heart, having a son with autism makes me relate to Rell. The Sacrifice too, seeing Umbra under that tree with all that pain and guilt over something that ultimately was out of his control yet at the same time he has to blame himself because his betrayal of Balus (right choice, but it was his choice) caused him to get revenge.
I have quite alot of time in Warframe. My first game that I really sunk my teeth into. I was there when railjack launched and did the grind that that was day 1. Before I started playing D2, I was going around trying to help out newer/midgame players as much as I could. When I was early in Warframe I had one tenno in particular take me under their wing and explain alot of things to me. I asked how I could repay them, and they simply said "pay it forward". Being the highest MR in the game and having an entire arsenal of all the weapons in the game fully forma'd out really helps because if someone says they like "X" weapon, I can say well I have tried that and here is a build I recommend and I explain my mod choices in it so that they can understand the modding system and figure it out for themselves. Warframe has an AMAZING community (unless you get into 4-5x3 tridolon runs and that is toxic) and I hope they never change
Same here, I've been with the game since 2014 and I have a similar standpoint on the whole game. I love teaching people who are willing to learn and actually take advice from people who do this because it's the right thing to do and not for their RU-vid channel to get views or for social media clout(personally i hate all warframe youtubers except one). And you're absolutely right the worst types of people are the multiple tridolon runners, they really made me stop running the mode unless I was running with my one or two friends that actually play anymore because of how toxic they can be. That and I've always felt it's more fun to teach new people that it's perfectly fine to only get a single tridolon run finished if you can in that 40min period rather than build for maximum efficiency and be a dickblister to everyone in chat.
All of these story beats is what I love about Warframe. This and the current state of Destiny’s’ story is what I love about video games. So I hope you go over more of the lore of this game
Never thought I would see Byf covering Warframe again, the story might be a mess, but it's a good mess, it's what keeps me playing, I hope Destiny's next expansion will have some moments like that, I've heard Bungie is focusing a bit more in the campaing this time, the story so far makes me wanna pick it up again
Fun fact about the song “For Narmer” is that it is a reverse chord progression of “We All Lift Together” making it even more of the inverse of how much Fortuna has been twisted
hey, had anyone noticed that RU-vid age restricted this video? I literally had to sign in to watch it! also, this video is my favorite! amazing work byf!!
I just want to say that I've been marathoning your videos, and all I can think when you introduce yourself is the "i lik the bred" meme, so here you go! my name is byf that is my name for meny yeers i play the game i reed the books to lern it moar and to yu all i tell the lore Thanks for the great videos!!
I never had anyone help me when I was new to the game (back when it was new on Xbox, so many years ago). But now I am that guy who sits and helps people just because I want them to have a good experience. I recently reached max rank and as a birthday (and rank-up) present, and thank you, from my clan for the hundreds of hours I've helped them, farmed with and for them and for the thousands of plat worth of stuff that I've given them, they gave me a Riven Mod for the first weapon I fell in love with - a godroll Amprex riven. It was such a wonderful experience! Warframe is a game of math and community! Build crafting and making friends.
The Tempestarii was the second most emotionally powerful experience in my 39 years of gaming, I'm legitimately sad I can not ever experience it for the first time again... 😢
I would like to say it is both refreshing and absolutely awesome it is the Byr is doing anything lore wise involving Warframe. Don't get me wrong. Byf has a lot of his table with destiny but I wish warframe had a lore guy like Byf. Yes there is Stallord but he hardly has don't anything lore wise of some time. Also granted warframe lore isn't has much a Destiny but still it has some good stuff to it. Never the less thanks Byf.
I think my favorite part of the Second Dream actually comes in War Within. The somber theme from the Lunar Cradle, simply titled "The Second Dream," is used as the lead-in to the epic War Within song titled "This Is What You Are." Wonderful musical storytelling.
It's been quite a while since your last warframe vid. I was beginning to think you'd dropped the series. But I can imagine Dynasty has kept you busy so I won't stay mad long 😜
Oh hell yeah it would be Greta of you covered warframe, I've been away from the game for a good while and I kinda wanna get back into it but I wanna know what I missed and learn more about the lore
I’m glad people help out now cause years ago when I started playing, before bullet jump, players were out for them selfs, and the higher up player would usually look down on people that were starting off.
Been playing this game and destiny for years and still trying to find out what the hell is going on in Warframe. Little do I know, freaking Byf of Destiny, also made Warframe vids. RU-vid algorithm has hidden this from me. I feel wronged.
i met my best friend when i started warframe by just asking in chat new player help, and he anwsered, weve now played many games together and have thoushands of hours of playtime together
I do miss you making WF content. I understand that Destiny will always be the channels golden goose, especially with Lightfall, it's seasons, and it's raid, but WF has such a rich and deep lore
I honestly feel Warframe has more potential than Destiny because it’s not as simple or frankly straightforward as Destiny is. There’s so much material to theorize and talk about and yet Byf chooses to Destiny almost exclusively at this point
I just started playing again a few weeks ago after like 3 years lol. Umbra is a lot of fun. I been using wisp, pretty interesting frame. I need eidolon shards now 😫 and Octavia nueroptic is a pain to get. Shout out to all the tenno that help out other players, so many of you out there! Thank you!
The fact that the storyline went from just "you're a space ninja" to Neon Genesis Evangelion parallels after the Second Dream quest is honestly my favorite part about the lore.
It’s not that it’s a bad story the reason it doesn’t get a lot of attention is bc of how long it takes to update lol can’t keep talking about the same stuff for years you know
@@ivory867 100%, I’ve been playing since January of 2015 so understand that wait better than most lol. Another issue is the amount of grind it takes between large story beats, definitely could use some streamlining. But I see so many players that have absolutely no clue what’s going on even after playing new war for above reasons and the convoluted nature of some of the storytelling. Like ordis, dude has one of my favorite backstories in all of fiction but how many people have actually heard it? Or the tale of the queens, Garas tale from the glass fish etc. I love both of these universes for their respective tales but am painfully aware of the shortcomings of both de and bungie when it comes to execution of said storytelling, although both have been much more up front as of late and can only hope for more consistency.
Ya... playing for over 200 hours than being met with a character creation screen was a moment i'll never forget in gaming. Truly a masterpiece right there.
I remember when I first played Warframe, mid way through 2013 and to see it grow over the last 10 years has been so crazy, similarly in Destiny, Both games made me love Sci fi fantasy shooters!
After hearing “Greetings, Tenno” I now know how those people who get stuck in alternate timelines feel. Where something isn’t necessarily wrong, it’s just….off from what your brain expects
One thing that I can say that both Warframe and Destiny does well is that they consistently push the boundaries of conventional storytelling. Both games have such rich background lore that is told to the player through dialogue, exposition, and items. On the downside, it takes a very long time for the average newcomer to deep dive into it and learn about it because of the mess that is the new player experience in both games. The Second Dream is still one of my all time favorite quests in the entire game. It completely redefined what a warframe was and what we were. The song "This is What You Are" still makes shivers run down my spine and I have it set as my orbiter music. "Dream... not of what you are, but of what you want to be." is such a powerful message. The "For Narmer" song really cemented the fact that we failed to stop Ballas during the opening section of The New War. Up until that point, it hadn't really sunken in how royally screwed the solar system was when the Tenno were sucked into the void, but the moment I saw that the people of Fortuna, those who we had helped fight back against the tyranny of Nef Anyo surrendering to the golden lies of Ballas was when I realized that we had lost the war.
holy shit i forgot how cool the audio for chains of harrow was and how they messed around with spacial audio, should reply all the quests cause ive forogtten most of it over the years
Would love to hear your voice on topics like Warhammer 40k, Mass Effect, and, Star Trek maybe........I wish you would go full Lore Master into all topics you enjoy talking about like Warframe and Destiny. Cheers from Canada.
I really feel like DE and Warframe are underrated when it comes to the story because we get it rarely compared to new gear. But also one of the most (generally) helpful communities in gaming I've seen.
The story at the beginning is almost par for the course for many Warframe players. Everyone remembers when they needed help early on, and had that one veteran that stepped up. As one of those veterans now, I always tell new players to pay it forward. Warframe is not the easiest game to understand, and everyone that likes this game knows there’s a sharp learning curve. That’s why the community is almost always ready to lend a helping hand. They’ve been there. And as the Solaris say: We all lift together
One moment that should've been included in that the top two moments is where the lotus carries us to our transference pod at the end of the second dream to the tenno (child/drifter) does the same for the lotus at the end of the new war. It may take them time but DE definitely hits the story plots spot on and the narrative makes it worth the wait. Frames are hit and miss and some of the frames quests are great others are ok but for a free to play game Warframe is better than most triple a titles today and that's a testament to the developers at DE the fans of Warframe and the community of players across all platforms. The willingness to help and to guide players new or returning to point them in the right direction or get them over a particular hump to progress. While also letting players be solo in an MMO is great. Warframe isnt perfect by any means, I believe that the beginning could be refined a bit more to help retain new players more but with the community being strong as it is I think DE feels it's not 100 percent necessary. I also feel that the foundry grind for new weapons and frames could be reduced by 25 percent. But it's still a great game and fun to play nonetheless and I'm personally looking forward to seeing it continue to get better
I know back in the day I started playing warframe early, I had a haitus for a very long time... I saw that Frost prime was locked, I asked within only 2 hours someone gave me the complete, The Complete, Set... For no reason at all. Frost was my favorite frame, Frost Prime IS my favorite frame.
New War was fantastic. A quest, with a lot of variety, as long as a full campaign with tons of cutscenes, great voice acting and a great villain. Compared to similar games, where you normaly would pay full price for something like that, it is outstanding and they put a lot of work into it. Especially Ballas, who has bern build up over nearly a full year, is one of my favourite characters. His voice actor did a fantastic job.
I played Warframe years ago when I was in college. Saw Total Biscuits review and was hooked from there. I have stopped playing since because at first I was not able to (no internet at home for two years). I tried to come back when Byf did his first video…but so much had changed from the system map to the warframe powers/abilities, I was lost. I keep wanting to return but don’t know how.
Easy, just start playing. Clear the star chart and do the quests. Dont try to do all the open worlds at the same time you unlock them because they get overwhelming very quickly(at the very least, do them to completion one at a time), but do enough in them to progress at a reasonable pace or get whatever blueprints/resources you need. Don't worry too much about building any of the modular items(kitguns/zaws/moas/infested pets) until you get the star chart finished(Paper Path) then focus on getting your operator powered up, rank up your mods and gather prime items to take on Steel Path and Arbitrations. Once you get to a point where you can reliably kill level 100s you're pretty much in the endgame at that point. If you need further assistance feel free to contact me on Xbox at Jes9119. I will gladly recruit you into my clan of jolly misfits where we have a whole 3 active members(login at least once a day or every few days) 2 of us are MR31s and the other is a MR16. And we are usually active at some point in time during all hours of the day or night since we have a member in Australia, I'm up all night and our MR16 is a early bird.
@@Jes9119 Thank you. I will give it another try. When did they release it for XBox and is there cross platform (I play via Steam)? What's a dojo and MR#?
@@bpaddack1 Unfortunately there is not cross platform accounts at the moment. You can do a one-time account migration which will take you PC account and make a copy on Xbox. You will then have 2 separate accounts. DE is currently working on implementing cross platform accounts (and play I think) but there is no timeline for it. They have said it is a major priority for them this year, not getting it out but developing it. Dojos are essentially clan housing. Just like you have your ship, clans have dojos. They are modular bases that are built by the clan. There are many things you can do at a dojo but the most crucial for gameplay is the ability to research new weapons, warframes and gear. It is sort of required to be part of a clan but while joining a clan is perfectly reasonable, building a dojo is not prohibitively expensive and can be done on your own. It will probably not be the biggest most lavish dojo but it will get you the goodies. MR is short for Mastery Rank. It is represent your overall progression in the game. Weapons are locked behind MR values (though this can be bypassed in the case of some late-game weapons) so as you progress you get access to more and more weapons. To get MR you need to level up weapons, warframes and other gear. Each time you level up one of these items, for the first time, you get a number of MR points. When you have enough points you can do a level up challenge. These challenges are short missions based on things you would usually do in the game but often with a small twist. As you MR goes up these challenges get more difficult. When you rank up your MR you get a number of benefits: The amount of standing you can get each day with the various factions go up, the amount of void traces you can hold goes up, new loadout slots, some more values also go up but some of them will represent minor spoilers. Beyond that your MR also represent the minimum rank of your warframes and weapons for the purposes of modding them. So if you are MR 5 all your weapons and warframs will start with 5 energy to use on mods. This number is doubled by Orokin Catalysts and Orokin Reactors like normal. I hope this answers you questions. Feel free to follow up if you have more, especially if my answers have caused confusion.
@Darth Sasquach it released on Xbox back in late 2014, there is no crossplay/save yet. Dojos are clan buildings essentially and MR is a pseudo-ranking system that is a imperfect system of being able to determine a players skill
