Welcome back to another episode of The Witness. In this episode, I tell you my top 10 secrets of the game, ranging from the boat (the fastest means of transportation in the game) to the mysterious secret ending (spoiler alert!). We delve deeper into the game than just the puzzles and the lasers and see what secrets the game has to hold, all in the form of a top 10 list! The next episode of the Witness will be the last for a while, and I will show you the locations and solutions of the bunkers and we will unlock the secrets of the windmill.

This secrets video took much longer to make than I expected, as I had to do a lot of research to find some of these hidden features. Did you guys enjoy the episode? What did you think of the secret ending?

The end was a little weird. Is this segment a show of how different aspects and elements of the game were created?

The endings in this game are very peculiar, especially this secret one. Honestly, just like anything in this game, the interpretation of this secret ending could be based on your perspective. In my opinion, I think that this is trying to show a little look into the life of a game developer and how creating a game as intricate and beautiful as The Witness can take a toll on that creator. As you can see in the ending, he is trying to touch everything as if it's another puzzle, which makes it seem like the puzzles and the creation of the game has consumed his life. His work could've changed his view of everything. It's a very interesting ending either way!

All the audio recordings in the challenge caves show the voice actors talking out of character...or in character, but as in-universe game developers of a fictional game. The idea is a bunch of people created a virtual reality experience for meditation and philosophy and stuff, and you're playing as a beta-tester. When you go into the game, your memory is more or less wiped (I forget is this was intentional, but it was at least alluded to in one of the recordings) so you have to figure out how to exit the game once get the experiences you wanted. In one recording, one of the developers says that a player would be able to relive the experience over and over again until they were ready to leave the game on their own volition, which is why the main ending of the Witness resets the game while the secret ending kicks you out. In the secret ending, the character you're playing (the beta-tester) wakes up after being in the game for so long and finding the exit, and a lot of people speculate he dies at the end?

@@toptextbottomtext6104 I believe that this game seems extremely simple when you first encounter it and as you play through. I think what you brought up is so interesting and shows just how much effort the developers put in the details most players don't notice.

4:03 - Do you know if there's a way to get to the statues underneath the pressure pad puzzles in the Keep? I've been trying to get down through the cyan puzzle and the green puzzle (Tetris / Tetris with Shadow), and can't find a way. The yellow one has ground you can walk on below you, and the pink... I don't think you can step off at all?

I'm not completely sure what statues you're talking about. Did you solve all the pressure puzzles in the Keep yet? That might help you find what you need.

@@alextle06 Thanks for the reply. OK, so when you're solving the cyan pressure pad puzzle in the keep, if you look down, you can see a whole load of statues on the floor below you. I vaguely remember being down there with them in a previous playthrough, but now I can't find out how I did it. Note: I did not find the 'Challenge' area (which is why I restarted), so it's nothing to do with that. Thanks.

Thanks for the clarification, I see which statues you're talking about now. I've never been down inside that area so I'm not sure how to access it. I would guess that they're purely there as part of the environment, but if you're sure you've been there before the entrance must be well hidden.

I'm like 95% sure there's no way to get down there, but I did see some interesting theories that the four puzzles represent the four classes of society, and the deeper the area under the puzzle is, the lower class it is. So like in the first puzzle you see the royalty and stuff at the surface, and in the last puzzle you see the lower class far below the surface.

@@toptextbottomtext6104 I think you're correct in the sense that you can't get to get to the puzzle. I haven't found a way to do so either. I haven't noticed the class reference before though. There could probably be hours of content made simply analyzing the game because its secrets are so expansive.
