XxCloudyy _gamerxX same it pushed me off the thing once during a picture and then looked normal and when I told me parents they sad stop lieing and take the picture
I personally unwrapped the CEI clown from his base, assembled him and set him up for people to see on tours. His head mech is missing so there's a wooden stick running through his body with his stuffed mask propped up on it and a set of Dook/Billy Bob eyes stuck in his sockets, which is why his head and neck appear fatter and deflated and his eyes are larger compared to the vintage photo.
I know another thing that's terrifying.. I don't remember where it was, but there's a park with a giant whale underwater. Of course it's a robot, but it pops out at random times. You can't even tell it's there. What if someone decided to jump in and swim? If could be fatal.
That was what i was saying! It shouldn't have counted on this list because its meant to be scary. i could maybe see why the original one would be on this list because whilst they probably meant for it to be scary looking they probably didn't intend for it to be like THAT but i don't think it should've been in this list especially at the top spot
Thank you for being respectful to the animatronics I genuinely appreciate it, I worry about the future of practical effects, not as many people care about things you can see in person anymore :(
Even though I do kinda fear some Animatronics underwater.. I have to give props, putting electronic, moving things underwater, must take some hard work.. If your not careful enough, stuff like that could go wrong, but those people manged to do it, props.
Have you heard of Stitch's Great escape? It closed a few years ago, and they had a Stitch animatronic and it unfortunately was thrown out as well. It's skeleton is seen rotting away in a really creepy image. Wow, they made stitch, one of the cutest Disney characters scary. Look it and the ride's history up, I'm sure you'll get a kick out of it.
I went to that back in 2015 when I was younger. Honestly I thought his attraction was extremely cool and detailed because of his movements, the only problem i had was how loud the sounds were. Why was it thrown out?
@@mistahkrabs5544 aw that's so sad. I can see why that attraction wouldn't bring in as much money as others, and that they wanted to move on to something bigger. But that ride was one of the most detailed and realistic animatronic attractions I've ever experienced, and when you're actually in there watching it it almost feels real. It's a shame it had to go :(
I have a feeling that animatronic bands would be better suited for places more like Dave and Busters or other adult food and beverage arcades than current Chuck E Cheese places. Mainly because kids clearly don't give a crap about them and the only ones interested would be those 21 and older as a nostalgic/camp type attraction. Though, I'd say something closer to Rock-afire than Chuck E. And am I the only one that thinks Bert looks like Mr. Gus from Uncle Grandpa?
I honestly agree, dave and busters should get animatronics. Despite me not being 21 (im 16) ive always been fascinated by animatronics and ive always wished that restaurants such as showbiz, circus playhouse, chuck e cheese etc were still around. I almost went to chuck e cheese when i was a kid for my birthday, but unfortunately the day we went it was very busy, so my parents just turned around and left. We went to dave and busters instead but there wasnt any animatronics unfortunately.
im surprised no ones talking about when the bunyip had an oil leak that turned him completely black, thats pretty freaky too but honestly i think hes scarier as is lol
I went to Six Flags Over Georgia in November 2019, Monster Mansion isn't doing so great over there. It smells foul in the building and some of the animatronics we're not moving/ missing parts. One was even missing a hand. I didn't like the ride per say it was not worth the wait. however if it were to be refurbish and some of the animatronics were fixed it could be a worthwhile ride once again.
I personally have automatonophobia and submechanophobia because of childhood traumas with dolls and puppets. The fear of animatronics however, has been quite recent with games and stuff like that. My submechanophobia arises from the fact that 1:man made things shouldn’t be underwater, only bad has come from that, and 2: underwater animatronics are a big no-no. I fear I will fall into the water they are in and get mangled by the machinery. So glad they took Jaws out. If you read to they end you are probably wondering “why did you watch this then?”. Good question. Immersion therapy. I know they aren’t big phobias I have to deal with on a daily, but I want to one day be cured so when I have kids of my own I can bring them to Disney and not be afraid, and show them these should be happy things.
I went to my local Chuck E. Cheese recently and it made me sad because they used to have Helen Henny dancing on stage, Jasper playing his banjo, Mr. Munch playing the keyboard, Pasquali playing the drums, and Chuck singing. Now it’s all gone.
There used to be an FAO Schwarz near where I live with an animatronic tree that scared the shit out of me. BTW, you should do more videos about accidental nightmare fuel in other categories, like maybe costumed characters or puppets!
I went to go go give kids the world once as a kid, and there was a giant tree of some sort. It would always snore, and i found it so cool.. I always liked animatronics as a kid. I was never afraid of them, and found them very fascinating. I was a weird kid.. ☺️
The new Bert may be unsettling but the first version is terrifying, but I’ve grown to be fascinated with it, And I wonder if any footage of the original exists.
You should make another one of these! I love your content, and I find animatronics to be fascinating as well. This really differs from most "animatronic top 10" videos i've seen on youtube because it has a lot of animatronics I have never heard about until now.
Ya I know know the name for it but I’ve always felt and had it every time I watch these videos and imagine falling in with it all and AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I CANT NOPE NOPE NOPE
As someone who has submechanophobia Bert the bunyip absaloutly TERIFIES me. Im only scared of animatronics in water rather than sunken ships and planes. The reason is *can you imagine being in the same body of water as those things!* I would be scared of being crushed or drowned by all the underwater moving parts
I visit Wall-Drug in SD quite often, I have since I was a child at least 3 times year. The singing sam animatronic is still the one shown at 1:55, he's looked like that for awhile. Last year he didn't look that great, he was out of order and covered in dust when I went. The other one located in the black hills area, I haven't seen since I was maybe 6-7 years old so I'm unsure if it is still there and functioning. There's tons of animatronic/statue related attractions in the blackhills that used to be very polished but are now more run down but still a great experience to go see. There's storybook island, dinosaur park, old macdonalds farm, 1880 town, Four Mile Old West Town, and a lot more.
I absolutely love how creepy Big Al is.. If you've ever seen the walk around character near the show building, it's definitely creepier and the stuffed animals are so weird looking! My grandfather would always laugh whenever he starts to sing and I actually have a tattoo of him just like the portrait in the waiting area. Whenever I hear him sing I laugh and cry because he is my favorite and dear to me.
You mentioned the clock from your childhood and in that slot for me is the talking and singing Christmas trees at the entrance/exit of Bugaboo Creek restaurants in the 2000’s. Not only were they terrifying but half the time they were in horrid condition making them even more unsettling. I was carried out of that restaurant crying on several occasions thanks to that tree.
When I saw singing sam for the first time. I was like "there is no way the unnerving appearance was unitentional. But looks like it was. This animatronic reminds me a lot of another animatronic from a fnaf fangame called "Fredbear's Fright". His name is Scrapped Mousiki. It reminds me of him mainly because of the broken jaw and the wide open eyes.
I remember when I went down to Mount Rushmore, we stopped at Wall Drug, and we went in back part, and we seen Sam. He was upgraded, and played “Alley Oop” They also have an animatronic band inside one of the rooms. The same room has a grumpy old man. If you are going to Wall, I recommend stopping at Wall Drug. If this helped you, leave a like. Tell them Alex sent you.
Ricochet didn't work when I went there, I didn't know the knife store shut down! That makes me really sad. They reminded me of when I was little in the 90's and went to Branson. I loved those. Also, I've only been to the rat casino twice, once as a baby, and the second time was when I learned I was scared of big things and the chef.
Duuuuuuuuuude, I can definitely relate to your fear of the clock animatronic! No joke, that thing kept me up at night and used to have nightmares of it
Fun E. Cheese Mr. Munch was a traveling character, he had 5 animatronics: In the window on the main stage The window on Pasqually’s stage The ceiling on the main stage The can on Pasqually’s stage A can on the main stage
i guess they originally had him as looney bird's animatronic but was changed to choo choo's animatronic in the final version while looney bird turned into the pizzacam?
I'm Australian and I absolutely love Bert, the Bunyip Song and the 60s Philadelphian puppet character Bertie The Bunyip. Bunyips are one of my favourite cryptids
Im surprised they didnt add the breyer rabbit character on this list. There was a dark ride attraction that had animatronics and one was a bunny in the bathtub...however it seems they didnt realize, or didnt care that the animatronic wasnt waterproof. And so it just sat there broken down and became gross (basically it started to rot and decay along with significant water damage) and it apparently smelled awful because the water it used for the bathtub (i think) cycled through the tub (i believe it would go out the faucet and then in the tub and then down the drain and back to the faucet)
Idk just something about large, like REALLY LARGE mechanical things underwater gives me the utmost of anxiety and the feeling of all of that metal and stuff is horrifying
Awe, the stuff of NIGHTMARES! I still find most kinds of animatronics a bit creepy (incl. those creepy ass furbies that I would NEVER bring inside my home) Animatronics are in the center of the uncanny valley! And as a kid, I was TERRIFIED of them. As an avid animal lover (who prob likes many animals more than a lot of ppl) I knew as a lil kid, animals couldn’t talk in real life. And the fact these animals not only talked, but they anthropomorphize with human like characters. Then on top of all of that, their mouths had the nerve to have the mechanical sounds being heard from it, which placed them right below wax figures…..ie, REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY creepy and deep inside the uncanny valley.
Never before have I ever called an animatronic _creepy_ because I know how they work and what not, but damn Singing Sam the Gorilla Man made me go back on this. Even Portrait Pasquale who I thought was ugly and kinda off-putting didn’t make me want to stop watching a video when he came up. This thing just makes me anxious.
MISS SCARLET HAS ALWAYS TERRIFIED ME!!! Several years ago Georgia had a really bad flood and unfortunately Six Flags was damaged by it as well. A few months later Six Flags was fixed and ready to reopen. So I went with some friends and we went on the Monster Mansion ride but it was clear that the animatronics were no longer working at top shape. It was kinda sad as the ride hasn’t been the same since as it seems to now have some of the animatronics not working properly anymore. Anyways once they opened back up and my friends and I rode it Miss Scarlet in the beginning and end and was glitching and it especially didn’t help that for some reason in both of her appearances her head was on backwards
poor bert the bunyip used to do a bit more than slowly rise up from the water, but with a lack of maintenance, he hasn’t held up too well ^^’. my parents have had a good look at him over the years, and i hope to visit him someday too!
South Dakotan here, one of the reasons the sam at wall drug ended up so deteriorated is because it's partially outdoors. It's in a show building, but just barely, I think they close it up for winter, but normally it's open on one side. South Dakota has some harsh weather. Hot and humid in the summer, in winter we get feet of snow. It's -6 degrees F as I'm typing this rn, it gets cold too. I bet the humidity is what really did the original one in. there's some other animatronics out there that seem to be falling apart these days as well. That being said, wall drug is definentally a place to stop if you get the chance. One of a kind, and I'll always love it.
That Bunyip at Murray Bridge scared the crap out of me as a child. It haunted my sleep for years. At least he was better than the environmental mascot Bazza the bunyip. Also love these videos. peace
I remember FAO Schwarz! The clock was creepy but (at least at an old location here) there was an animatronic giraffe who could lower his head down to head/eye level and he would just talk and look around and stare at people. I don’t know how or why is neck was able to bend like that, he was a huge animatronic! I do miss that old store store, there were some of the coolest, most fun and adorable toys there!
3:21 omg I've gone to the knife museum so many times when I go to Gatlinburg, those animatronics aren't super scary to me but there is something unsettling about them for sure!
you got one thing wrong. The Knife Works isn’t closed, it’s still open even today. Me and my parents were just up in Tennessee last week and I would go there to see the animatronics and I personally love them
I took a tour of the creative engineering Warehouse when I was about 10 years old. I still have pictures of me standing next to that clown. I'm 14 now, and have taken that tour one time since then. It was a very cool experience and I recommend it to anyone who likes animatronics
All of this is just pure nightmare fuel, even more so with the original grime covered rotting Burt the Bunyip and baby which look more like a Great Unclean One and Nurgling from Warhammer!
I think I remember seeing "Big Al" in a loft cubby space at a dinner show I attended in Pigeon Forge, TN called Black Bear Jamboree in the early/mid 2000s, but maybe I'm wrong if he wasn't there. That show featured many large bear animatronics and has been defunct for quite some time.
Oh dang, I went to that knife store just last year. Yeah, those animatronics were pretty hard to miss. I ignored them mostly, and I didn't realize just how creepy they were. Especially if they might be real taxidermy, eugh o~o I'll have to pay more attention to them if I go there again.
I don't know if it was due to something at the time, but both the #2 animatronics (Singing bear and raccoon) and Smoky Mountain Knife Works in Tennessee are open, was just there the other week and they're alive and well. Plus they're not really all that bad, even have a robotic hound dog on the floor that bobs it's head to the music
so ive had a horrible fear of manmade objects or just relatively huge things (the river near me get big trees in it and it makes me want to cry) But i didnt even know til recently it was a phobia Im kinda relieved others have it too so i know im not crazy to think that the planes and CAT machines underwater in fallout 4 are really scary I even hate being underwater in power armor :')
I've never heard of the clock face thingy before, I suppose we don't have it in England, but it reminds me of this house in a children's show called 'come inside' there's a house in that show with a face on it and, though it's cgi, it totally gives me the same vibe
I know you said no fnaf, but the creative engineering clown is shockingly similar to the puppet. Makes you wonder if Scott based the puppets design on the clown.
