As a lifelong Sims player I greatly appreciated the build up to the DISAPPOINTMENT of the MacxSims pallet. I’m honestly still not over how bad it was 😂
I agree with this, like if they wanted it to be So InClUsIvE, why didn’t they just design a new neutral palette that - at the very least - we hadn’t seen yet…. I just feel like you can do color and boldness in a way that is inclusive to all styles of makeup and remain relatively universal. The sad part is, MAC knows how to and can do it too.
You can tell they just picked sims because how popular it was and they knew how much money they were going to make from it. No thought behind it beyond that. It’s not like you think of makeup when you think of the sims.
In game the makeup, other then like the blush and some of the lipsticks is like unusable too. Most look weird on darker sims. The sliders can help a little bit but not much.

I'm more of a casual Sims fan, although I did greatly enjoy the older games, but as someone who has been watching LGR/LazyGameReviews for years (his Sims videos were what hooked me), as well as being an Izzzyzzz fan, I feel like at least by now (even back when the collection launched) that Simmers would've been a little more leary of literally any business decision made by EA.

@@imst1llaliv3 Some trashy people use mirrors to look under other people's skirts. They could also use their phones. It's one of the reasons why in Japan they have genderly divided train carriages and phones that cannot turn off the sound (and flash I think) when taking photos
Honestly marketed differently the “chorizo” lipstick would hit, it’s beautiful colors, marbled (which isn’t common) & has peppers (lip plumper) remove the pizza company, add some hydration or staying power and a big brand and it would be a total hit.

11:44 not just a plain starter palette…. The saturation and values of those colors are all quite similar which means you don’t get any variety with which to create looks.
I think a good collab would be a make up line wtih little Debbie type snacks. Or Hostess. Like who wouldn't love a Twinkie collab, or a Swiss roll one? lol
Interestingly I just recently saw that Walmart has Cheetos makeup, Nacho Cheese Doritos makeup, and Cool Ranch Doritos makeup. It doesn’t have a brand associated with it that I can tell but there are also brushes and Fruity Pebbles stuff too.
I'm late to this video, but the image you put up for the makeup MAC put into the Sims is custom content, like a mod someone made to put in! They did include makeup, but it didn't look like that - it was also a bit underwhelming, though there are a few bits I use regularly still (a blush/bronzer, the eyeshadows, one of the lip products). They did a variety of things in eyeshadow, eyeliner, blush/bronzer, and lip stuff, but only some of it actually looks good. A certain amount is kind of avant garde and high fashion, which is not what we thought we were getting at all. We assumed it would be like classic MAC products but in the Sims, like your Sim can now wear Ruby Woo or whatever. And the base game makeup is just okay, so we were hoping for more styles and some more trendy things. I guess we kind of got that. The all over blush/bronzer that they included I use on almost every Sim because it does look really naturally blushed/bronzed depending on the colour. The definitely-not-a-sperm eyeliner look, though? That gets used exclusively on aliens and even then it's very sparingly. Compared to the real palette, though, it's a masterpiece! As someone who has played every single Sims game since I was a child, and still plays the Sims and spends money on the Sims, AND someone who loves makeup? I was hyped. I don't like MAC, but I would've spent a lot of money on this. This palette didn't just disappoint the people in the middle of that Venn diagram like I am, it disappointed makeup lovers and also Simmers who don't even care about makeup. It is still one of my biggest disappointments in makeup history, it is such a loss of potential. The Sims franchise is so bright and can be really cartoony at times, and they gave us neutrals? Assorted browns? For a game series that has so many colours associated with it? Like green and the other colours of the plumbob (red, orange, in The Sims 2 you could have a gold or silver plumbob), TS4 has made blue one of its main colours, you could do makeup for Sonny the Tragic Clown, there are moodlet colours in TS4, you could do a grungier palette based on the Grim Reaper, or go blue and swimming pools (everyone has killed at least one Sim in a swimming pool and you can't tell me otherwise). I have no interest in having a makeup brand, but if I did, I would do precisely one collaboration, and it would be with the Sims to try and counteract the disappointment and lost potential MAC had.
I've been going through a serious and hard time lately....so fun but not stupid content is SOO important to me! Love your vids girl; not life or death but heck they are important to us who spend real money in the beauty world

woahhh soo sad bcs of the glamlite cheetos collection now that I'm also hearing what their plan was for it...I didn't even know that Glamlite was latina owned plus I remember seeing a ytber at the time review both the other cheetos palette that came out and also the glamlite pizza palette and the quality difference was huge. such a miss for frito-lay
Fantastic video, really enjoyed it! The history of makeup is so interesting, including the relatively recent history like collabs. It’s great to see content looking into and consolidating past releases in cool ways like this because so much of youtube in focused on current/new/upcoming releases that we don’t get as much reflection/analysis on trends like weird collabs! So so so good, even though it didn’t smell like cheese 😅

I love Collabs. It makes make up very fun for me and that’s the only reason I do make up at all. Also, I find that a collaboration more often than not helps me feel more masculine in my make up. Also 47:36 this commercial is way too good for that collaboration
Also, the only hip thought collaborations like I got the coolest one and the critical role collaborations. I did like their make up though. Wishing the one with critical role was a little bit better with the shades selection, since it is supposed to be dungeons and dragons with voice actors playing it.

With the MAC x Sims collab, they couldn’t have gotten it more wrong 😳 that was the blandest lack of imagination palette ever for Sims! i know its not exacly a weird collab, but when you mentioned the Hipdot cup noodles collab i remembered the MCR Danger days Hipdot palettes and i legit wanted to cry because that was like my dream palette💔

The #1 most haunting moment of all these collabs is that SEVERELY emaciated horse in the Spanish KFC perfume ad. I hope beyond hope that horse head was fake, because to starve an animal to that level of emaciation is the height of cruelty. Even if it was fake, why show such a thing? Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed this video! It was excellent!

What was used on your lips for this video? It looks like a peachy color and I need it 😂 Saw Jessica Simpson once in the 2000s wearing a peach gloss and have been on the hunt ever since. Also I cannot believe that Sims palette! That's so depressing looking. No plumbob green? Bella Goth Red? I would've thrown my whole wallet at them if it was more true to the brand and not just a repackaging....and especially after the colorful Simpsons collab. Speaking of collabs, I LOVE the Chucky lipstick from Glamlite and just placed an order for the Garfield blush and eyeshadow (on sale currently!)
Ummmmm......YES, there IS a limit on how much Ranch Dressing is too much!! I couldn't wear a lip gloss or ANY type of makeup that smells like Ranch dressing the whole time you're wearing it. I just could not.....LOL!! COOL VIDEO!! I NEVER even knew that there was ANY kind of makeup and foods that had collabs. Crazy stuff! 😂❤😂❤
