My wife and I have been interested in trying out kayaking/solo skiff fishing. This is probably one of the best resource video we’ve seen, good stuff. Having never done this, a real world review of how to launch and retrieval “etiquette” maybe a “how to” and “ways not to die on your first attempt” would be exceptional. The same matter of fact detail type video as this one, would be huge.
I'm actually making a video tomorrow called "everything on my yak" that will go up and then I'll do a launch tutorial or something else. If you guys wanna do this and your in San Diego text Roxanne for trip info. 619 800 0998🤙
Y'all Rock !!! Cool people !! Nice to have met y'all .. thx for the kayak launch spots looking forward to using them !! Fish on.. see y'all out there 🎣
Glad you liked it! I have a premiere tonight you might wanna check out if your new. Going over all my rigs and where I use em. Thanks for watching bro!
Thank you for taking the time to make this very informative video! I'm not a kayaker, I've got a 10' Achilles inflatable with transom wheels, so a lot of these spots are useful to me. Subscribed!
This video right here is what I needed. Thank you for doing the leg work. I've discovered 2 on my own and was about to drive all around mission bay. Thanks again! Great video!
Hey San Dog. Great tour. Thanks for doing this video, really helpful. I’m surprised no one else has done this tour, so thanks for looking out for us newby kayakers. This is great info.
Glad I ran into your channel. Just picked up fishing this summer and always thought about kayaking since we’re in San Diego. I might have to go on one of your trips soon !
Dude you're the best. Been grinding La Jolla in my compass. Got a passport with my GF at fast lane and looking for a good learning spot for her. Great spots.
This is incredibly helpful video. i just started paddle boarding and was looking for good spots to launch. The fact that you pin the location in the map was so helpful!
Right on! I'm glad you liked it. We're having a huge party at mission point park this Sunday from 7am to 3pm if you wanna join... kayaks... food... raffle 🤘
Just hit it up now. No luck but I'll be back again. Perfect lil oasis tucked back in the bay. Deep structure and the harbor with planes flying right over head
Close by there actually at liberty station since the current was pretty strong at spanish landing. Just tried jigging off the bottom while cruising around. Cant wait to hit that spot when it warms up
@Joshua Eskelson that spot is great. If you launch from liberty... I wouldn't even start fishing till you get past the bridge. You might catch something but the good stuff is on the other side of the bridge 🤘
Great video. I am over in AZ and have been wanting to come visit and do some fishing. Now I just need to find some good hotels with parking that allows trailers!
@@sandog I have checked there but it seems to be pretty solidly booked so that rules out any last min trips. Plus it doesn't seem to be much if any cheaper than hotel. I can always roof top the kayaks, its just easier with the trailer.
Thanks for the video! I'll add a few more. There are a multitude of spots in Mission Bay and South Mission so I won't add any more than what you've covered. I will say the spot at Mooreland Dr and Riviera Dr near Rocky's is convenient. Also, at the bottom of Farragut Rd and Cushing Rd in Liberty Station is another put in spot. It's near the Courtyard by Marriott. There is a kayak and paddle board rental spot there as well. There is bay access and plenty of grass if you prefer that over sand. I find it easier to park there than near Corvette Diner. There is also a public dock near Jimmy's Famous American Tavern on N Harbor Dr not too far from Liberty Station. As others have commented, the beach by Il Fornaio and Mullinex Dr by the skate park, both in Coronado, are good.
AWESOME VIDEO DUDE I’m more of a launch ramp guy. Never launched from the ocean beach and breakers. Lots of ramp options for an old dude. Typically How is the fishing in April and May In mission bay and outside in the ocean relatively close to shore. Thanks Fred
Thanks for the video. Not a kayaker (yet) but love to float tube fish. I’m seeing this video giving me a lots of options to launch a tube as well. Camp in the Carlsbad area a few times a year and want to hit SD to do some fishing for spotties, halibut etc. Any hints which ones would be best for tubers? Subscribed🔔
No. Everyone who goes looks out for each other. Last year, a dude left his fins. I saw em sitting there and grabbed em cause I could tell they were forgot. Put a message on FB, and he came and got en the next day. You can also ask a dude to watch, even though as soon as you leave... most people will watch your stuff just cause. It's safe🤘🤘
Great info appreciate the details and content!! I'm in North County and am just beginning my Kayak adventure. Have launched at Oceanside Harbor and the Carlsbad lagoon (Agua Hedionda Lagoon) but don't know too many other locations. Appreciate the variety in the South Bay but am wondering if there's options up North I'm missing. Thanks again.
+Larry Hawes I would say call pure water sports in oceanside and talk to Chris Boyer. Im sure he will have all the info you are looking for.... im more of a down south guy
Great informative video, i’ve been wanting to go fish, La Jolla, but I’m several hours away. I was wondering, do you know any good places you could stay overnight in a camper on the back of a truck, cheap and legal to do?? I would love to come down there and stay a few days in my camper and fish La Jolla. Let me know if you know of any places?? thanks.
De Anza cove has some awesome spots . Just a couple exits from LA jolla. I just Google maps de Anza cove and you'll see the little trailer park place. You can also check campland on the bay.
Hello, Thankyou for making this very informative video, I just subscribed to your channel, I have a question, I just bought an 11ft inflatable boat with a 9.9 hp engine, do you think I would have any issues or problems launching my boat from La Jolla. Thanks
Is the Bahia Point #4 spot in your video free parking? Also what times are the parking? For us in Dana Point, it's from 6am to Midnight and after that you risk getting towed.
@@sandog There was a mention on a good seafood restaurant on point loma, so I was wondering where it was. I will drive there, because I'm sticking to flat waters still....lol.
Good video. I've launched from all of these places before. Question, at Kellogg's after you get set up, what unicorn do you have to blow in order to find parking near there? Those Point Loma folks don't like me parking in front of their houses all that much.
Thanks for this, I just bought a Hobie Oasis and plan on using it in San Diego just need to understand the rules. Does your kayak have to be registered in San Diego or can you launch any non-motorized kayak in the ocean. Thanks.
Thank you San Dog. I was thinking of how I was gonna Launch this coming July trip. I have a boat and I never been to SD but I want to get out to LJ try my luck. It seems like the easiest place to launch boats is the south side is that correct.
When you say boat... do you mean like a little skiff. That's the most you could launch at la Jolla. If you have a boat i would launch from Dana. #6 on the list. And go out the channel and up to LJ
Hi, I have the same type of car. A lot of Mexican owned small shops will replace your windshield for a very reasonable price. I go to the ones in San Fernando Blvd in the Valley. I get a lot of pits from wind on it. Maybe you can find some similar vehicle repair main Blvd down in San Diego. It's a while you wait service.
