The Higgins family also set up the Higgins Armor Museum with an amazing collection of old Knight's armor suits. The collection included armor for animals like horses and dogs too! I visited several times and loved it as an aspiring metalsmith. I have heard that it has since closed and the collection scattered. Ah well, progress I guess.
@@johnvonundzu2170 Well, neither is Steinert Hall. Lifelong Boston native and I never heard of that one before this. And Pink House is a "mansion" to Newbury.
Interesting, but your clickbait of JFK Jr is misleading! He never lived in a mega mansion like these. He had a loft apartment in NYC, lived at Red Gate Farm, his late mother's home on Martha's Vineyard which is modest compared to these abandoned homes and he inherited initially, the president's home at the Kennedy Compound near where I've lived on the Cape!
also grew up on the Cape and go back often. Amazing how they try to keep people from driving past those Kennedy homes but they are located off public streets. I have driven down them with family to show all the homes owned by the Kennedy family. I worked with a couple that owned the home next to Ted Kennedy, it was bought hoping Ted would win the Presidency.
@@George-y1o1m Yes, I lived on Pine St. which leads towards hyport. Love the lighthouse. The town tries to keep people away. The residents are very friendly and wave when you drive through. I will be there next week. Can't wait.
I was born in Worcester in 1962. Bramble Hill is such a classic New England home. I lived in Attleboro until 1986. Because my parents met at the Boston Conservatory of Music and I also played piano, I’m partial to Steinert Hall. All of those buildings were beautiful and it is such a shame that they were abandoned and left to decay. I’m just surprised that no one has ever purchased any of them and revived them for either a residence or museum purposes.
Not a native but I love Massachusetts since the very first time I visited it, and almost three years ago I decided this was the place I want to live the rest of my life's journey
46 year old Boston Native. My fav is Juniper Hill in Shrewsbury...I think. They're all beautiful. It's such a shame people destroy such beauty with graffiti. I'm a city girl whose working class fam has struggled with rent increases for as long as I can remember. Could never afford these beauties so it's nice to see places I didn't know existed in my State. My family has lived in Massachusetts for as many generations I can go back on both my mom + dad's side. My Dads mother can trace her lineage to the Mayflower which I thought was so cool as kid. Being able to trace your lineage that far. I'm a proud Bostonian. Love it. Don't love the taxes or the cost of living but we're a legal marijuana State now 😊 And have such beautiful history. Thanks for the vid. Love from South Boston, MA ☘️
Do you not see the correlation? Megalomaniac rich people built these mansions on the backs of people like your family who could barely afford their rent. And for what? They are dead and their wasteful mansions are rotting away. But yeah, it’s a real shame about that graffiti…..
Sadly South Boston is so gentrified the value of the land the buildings are built on is so high that if you don't put up something expensive you can't make your money back. A 3 family condo that was worth $50k in the 90s is worth $3m now. My parents sold their condo for $100k in the 90s and moved to the suburbs the same condo is worth $1.5m now its crazy.
Hope someone will buy and rehab the Pink House. It is not that far off the road, actually, though it appears "isolated", and it's such a landmark on that stretch of them marsh road.
I am a native of Massachusetts, and I'm really surprised that Elm Bank in Dover is not on this list. The grounds are run by the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, but the mansion is derelict. It was built for Alice Cheney (her father was a founder of American Express) and her husband, and it was designed by Carrere and Hastings with the Olmstead Brothers doing the gardens. Several years ago the first floor was cosmetically touched up for the interior filming of the movie "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past."
Never knew about the hall, was in the store as a child, that area should be redone and used fof something, maybe the Pops 🎼 could do something with it ™️🎸
I hate Massachusetts! I am a lifelong resident of the state. Taxes are ridiculous, everyone and their brother is a liberal drip. If I could leave I would but my home is paid for, my kids are here, etc. The Oceanside is awesome, the place is beautiful to look at but that’s about it. Being a Conservative in Massachusetts is not at all a fun time. I don’t care I fly my Trump flag PROUDLY!! Vote for sanity TRUMP 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸2024🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
@@Ivehadenuff My point exactly. A Massachusetts liberal you are for sure. The problem with you and others like you, is that you are filled with so much hatred For President Trump and anyone else that chooses to support him that you are unable to see the truth when it’s right in front of your eyes. I was a Democrat for 52 years until one day I caught them in several lies that were swept under the rug by the main stream media. Donald Trump was blamed for it and he had ZERO to do with it. This is what your party does. They make up lies and back them up with BLACKMAILED former agents, congressmen as their puppets. The entire MSM is under the control of the DNC. So be who you want to be sir but you remember this: the Left is 100% responsible for the state of our country NOT Donald Trump. When he was in office, living in the USA was like a paradise. Great economic opportunities and great jobs. Food was 64% cheaper on average, gasoline was definitely cheaper. Crime was at an ALL TIME LOW HISTORICALLY. Our border was secure and safe for US citizens living at the border of Mexico. I could go on and on about the positive impact Donald Trump has had on our country but I can’t say a single positive thing about Joe Biden. Remember now, Biden has been in DC for 52 years?????? Trump, only 4 years. Well in those 4 years he accomplished more than ANY PRESIDENT IN OUR HISTORY!!! That’s not me spitting out non facts that’s me reading it from every major publication in the WORLD. Donald Trump was the best we ever had but you leftists just keep up the lies. How many times will it take you to have the common sense to see that of all the bullshit charges that have been thrown at him, hardly any have stuck and after going to the Supreme Court where thankfully there is still common sense being applied to our laws along with our Constitution, he will walk away being found innocent. Because he is. Remember Russiagate?? Hilary Clinton his opponent in the 2016 Presidential Election PAID a British spy 2 million dollars to fake evidence against Donald Trump. The Dossier as it has been described was used to falsify documents in the FISA court. Why is she not in jail??? If you did it you would be in Federal prison, right? If I did it so would I. So if the Dems are so honest and the party so worried about our democracy blah blah blah then why are they okay telling falsehoods to the American people. Why?? They lied to us all so why are you so loyal to a party that paid a spy to come up with a disgusting lie of a dossier. The Left used their blackmail powers to force judges to make ridiculous rulings for crimes that were not even crimes. How can you be okay with that kind of criminal behavior?? Lies, fake evidence , etc. the truth is that they have been bilking hundreds of millions of dollars to themselves and their croakiest. That’s how the Democratic Party is run. Maybe you need to do some genuine homework and learn the actual TRUTH. Not off Google though ok. DO REAL RESEARCH and if afterwards you still think we are the bad guys then…I feel bad for you. I’m not sure what they did to us but when I finally woke up from my liberal trance it was like being born all over again. I see things that I had no idea what they were for and I’m angry with myself for wasting 52 years in that party of fibbers and crooks. I am not either of those things and neither is Donald Trump. He honestly is a great guy and the most giving person I ever met. The charity he shares with people never ends. I know of so many stories about people down on their luck that President Trump has seen, felt bad for and has pulled over and changed their lives forever with housing , money and most importantly to President Trump, a Prayer for them. He is a wonderful human being who has been entirely and horribly treated by the Left and the Media, all for things he did not do and has been exonerated for 99% of most of the phoney charges. How would YOU FEEL If the world told lies about you? How would you feel having to defend yourself from something you didn’t even do?? I’ll bet you’d be plenty pissed off huh? Donald J. Trump will be our next President and. Nothing is gonna change that. Can you tell me without throwing up in your mouth, that your life under Joe Bidens leadership is BETTER?? Cmon no fibbing tell the TRUTH!! 2016 to 2020 were the best years this country has ever recorded. Again NOT MY OPINION, these are factual records in our Capital and available to any American citizen. Try engaging with the facts and you will see the truth for what it is. You then will see your other Democratic leaders for what they are, what they really are. ✌️❤️🇺🇸
You are correct. Home prices and property taxes are ridiculous! Many sell out and flee to maine, and mostly bc mass.residents on social security can't LIVE after paying for their taxes. They can buy property cheaper here and taxes are lots lower...then Mainers GRIPE bc the " foreigners " are buying up the property, but they get better prices selling to them!
The entire Castle region should be Greenbelted for posterity it is the Heart of Americas Holy Land and saw it all through the ryes and the membrance of the inhabitants that inspired us to this day! Needs to be captured on film and all recorded remembrance. A True Historic Masterpiece! Even used in Hollywood movies ! 😊
A rich man's folly in ruins, a crumbling pergola, a deserted auditorium, and a flat out ugly old house do not qualify as mansions, abandoned or otherwise. The Bramble Hill house was the only example that remotely resembled a mansion and it was far less impressive in person than in pictures.
I do live in Massachusetts and found this very interesting. I am most intrigued with the last space presented, Steinert Hall. It is interesting to see such a grand music hall buried four stories below ground.
The Pink House i know very well because across the street my grandfather had a house and property set way back from the road and my family used to vacation there when i was a kid. Spooky place and an odd story attached to it.
Old abandoned mansions have no right to be this interesting, but it is since I can see a different side of the state. I’ll always be fascinated to learn new things about home. Especially, if it’s from these networks of channels.
Interesting that these properties are close by or in Worcester. I was born in Worcester and these are new to me. I saw a documentary on Steinert that it takes a year or more to make a piano.
Born and raised in Boston and still here 65 years. Thank you for highlighting these glorious relics with an English accent worthy of their former stature.
@@taylorrice8612 For my experience, it is an old - and pleasant English accent you can find in many old movies of 100 years ago. But, not sure why you felt it necessary to correct me. Lead and remain positive pls.
