Crouser is insane not just as a shotputter but just overall athletics, I think he would have been a world champion in just about any sport he pursued (other than sports that involve being short)
The first guy I was thinking of was Daniel Cormier... who was in the video on accident when you showed Cael Sanderson beating his ass. DC doesn't get enough credit. Just happened to run into the GOAT in two sports in Jon Jones and Sanderson.
Hello Zack, I love your content. I just want to add that javelin "nerf" came in 1986, roughly 10 years before Železný threw massive 98 meters, thus Železný could make it on your list, since almost nobody knows about him. It took 24 years for someone to even get close to this number and his record still stands strong rn.
Tennis is very often overlooked when talking about freak athletes, but nowadays these guys are absolute beasts. (I would think about alcaraz, nadal, monfils)
Tennis is such a niche sport that is so nerfed by TV that i would say any tennis player is an underrated athlete under the general public's eye. It's hard for people who have never hit with a pro to understand how insane they actually are. As a 5.5-6.0 player, i got one lucky game against a friend who won only a handful of matches on tour over the span of 6 years. There are insanely different levels and that makes the big 3 unfathomably untouchable.
Damn! I was interrupted. So all these incredible players walked past me. I couldn’t utter a word. Then Ahmad Rashad walks past me and I scream out his name. Of all the literal hall of famers I could have had gotten attention from I decided to talk to a tv host
I went to the NBA Draft one year at MSG with my dad and we got tickets to this pre-draft cocktail hour thing. I was like 12 and my dad introduced me to Ahmad Rashad lol
I don't know what that guy was talking about with his characterization of Ken Griffey Jr. Griffey is universally considered one of the all-time greats and one of the most prodigious talents the game has ever seen. Along with Willie Mays, Barry Bonds and A-Rod he's the best true 5-tool player in history. His fielding is the standard for center fielders and his combination of grace and power is arguably without equal. He made it sound like Jr was solely a power hitter with a sweet stroke when in fact he had it all.
John Breznk, he went 25 years without a loss in worldwide competition. He was the basis for the movie "Over the top" and is discussed in the documentary "pulling john". John is the equivalent of Micheal Jordan never losing a game in 25 years against teams 100lb outside of his weightclass
Well...not undisputed anymore. Levan will likely retire in 10 years without a loss too. I think he might even be a good 20% stronger than prime breznk.
@@andrelarocque5967 So here's a couple thought experiments that I enjoy contemplating: 1) Would the all time prime/peaked version of Levan defeat the all time prime/peaked version of Dennis Cyplenkov? And 2) Who wins in an alternative universe, if a peaked/prime version of Levan that had never used any PEDs, faced the peaked/primed version of John Breznk? Tell me what you think, if you like.
@@andrelarocque5967it’s still undisputed. Longevity and weight matter. Just the number of years he held titles, the number of times he competed, and the way that he competed all make it impossible to deny. If Levan stays on top for 20 years, then goes down a weight class and still kicks ass, then maybe there is a conversation.
The Javelin was changed after Uwe Hohn from East Germany threw 104.80m in 1984. They changed it in 1986. The reason being because there was a danger of it being thrown into the distance runners and the fact that the old design being better balanced didn’t always stick into the ground. It bounced a lot and would skip onto the track. The new javelin made sure that it would stick and if it didn’t the throw doesn’t count.
Add someone here, Phil kessel in hockey. The guy was very good for multiple years, but he played 1064 consecutive regular season games. That is 13 years of hockey without missing a single game!
Fking loved this one, do more conversations topics like this! Also, I listen to these while working out and the "close mic while yall are lifting and breathing into it" messes with me. This one was way better in that regard, just my 2 cents. Keep the companions coming!!
Actually for javelin, the person they nerfed it for was Uwe Hohn, who threw 104m with old-rule javelins. Jan Zelezny has the new javelin record with 98.48m, which has stood for over 20 years
WARNE!! 🇦🇺 rip to the man! Not sure if he’s classified as under rated but love for him to get a mention! Idea, do a video on weird rules/changes in sports, off the mention of the golf ball and javelin changes many sports have lots of odd rule changes like this, or strange things that are banned - you can’t front flip/gainer in long jump, you also can’t cartwheel in shot put. David Weir, wheelchair athlete dominated the 2012 paralympics with gold in the 800, 1500, 5000 and the marathon, hugely underrated dominating his T54 category
I saw a documentary about shane warne by pure coincidence, never seen a game of cricket in my life, but that guy was wild. And he was late in the game too, he just had wicked skillset you couldnt ignore
Haven’t even listed to see if you address this: but Vijay learned to play cross handed and he can play legit left handed better than 99% of the population
FOR SURE: Birgit Fischer, she's a German kayaker and won the second most Medals at Summer Olympics ever with 8 gold medals and 4 silver medals. She competed in 6 Olympic games. She won at least one Gold, regularly 3 Golds, at every World Championship she competed in from 1978 up until 1998. (She did not compete in the time immediately after Reunification) She still won a Bronze in 2004 aged 43. All in all she placed first in 36 World or Olympic games, 6 Silver and 4 Bronzes.
Shoaib Akhtar. crazy cricket fast bowler has the world record in fastest ball thrown in cricket. The great Gamma Pakistani legend some believe him to be the best wrestler of all time.
The record for made 3s in a season when Steph came into the league was 269 (Ray Allen). Steph has eclipsed that 9 times in 15 seasons. In the years where he didn’t reach 269, he missed at least a third of the season due to injury in 3 of the 6.
Tyler Clary, American swimmer. He was the third fastest in the world for multiple events multiple Olympic trials. Each country is allotted 2 swimmers per individual event and unfortunately for Mr Clary, the first and second fastest in the world were Americans Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps. Clary did make Olympic teams and won a gold medal but without Lochte and Phelps, a generational and centurational (?) talent respectively, his haul would've been massive.
19:25 I loved high school wrestling and it makes me really sad that there's not wrestling gyms everywhere for adults the same way there's just jitsu gyms everywhere for adults It's one of the most ancient and most prolific sports of all time In an ideal world I'd be both focused on Strongman and wrestling but here we are and I'm lifting stones in a parking lot lol
I would add Nathan Florence -- big wave surfer, broke a vertebrae for his sport. Maybe Koa Rothman also, I think he also broke a vertebrae at Pipeline. Athlean X 😆
Another hockey player, Pavel Datsyuk. Made players look silly every time. And also single-handedly create the modern style with a skill based game. Ahead of his time.
.)•(..}•{..]•[../•\..)•(..}•{..]•[../•\. Just some more comments and a Like for the algo. *************** Stay s̶h̶r̶e̶d̶d̶e̶d̶ strong & healthy, brahs (and brahettes). **************** We're all gonna make it. **************** Peace.
Chris WIlliamson with huge bias for mid English cricketers. The wider cricketing world has much better players and athletes than Collingwood and Billings
Kyle Snyder, 4x World/Olympic champion, 6x World medalist. Hasn’t lost to an American wrestler in almost a decade. Isn’t the face of wrestling in America bc of Jordan Burroughs even though Kyle has been out performing him for years
