Being unable to buy FW models made obligatory by GW for my army to function. That and not having really powerful rules for my units. Stat check armies don't work, when it is easy to pass the check & the game requires to use cheap fast msu , which doesn't exist in the codex.

You forgot to mention Nurgle's best strategy: do not shower a month before the tournament. Your body odor will prevent enemies from verifying your LoS over questionable cover, and it's a free screen USE IT. Bonus, if you feel like being dishonest: Their eyes will be too full of tears from your stank to notice you only rolled two exploding 6s, but declared four.

Love this format of video, Really helps get across the points you are making very clearly and effectively, More like this please! I think to make this type of video even better you could use clips from small created scenarios on an actual tabletop, just to further aid explanation of the information you are sharing with us? (and then also doubles up as way to showcase any models rarely seen) Regardless, great video!

Great video. Another technique, is to predict what score each playing should expect to get if their basic game plan is pulled off. This will let you know if you can win by default or if you really need to make something happen.

This really helps. Started playing a month ago and went RG because I love Tacticool, but I'm having such a hard time. I feel pretty underpowered even against my other noob buddies and have noticed guides say they rely heavily on movement which is 'advanced' play. Definitely going to consider threat holistically then add peaking and point trading to my arsenal of tactics. Thanks!!!
@oblahuwtf5786
@oblahuwtf5786 Год назад
also started with Raven Guard as my first choice for Marine flavour :) took me some time to realise their best stratagems are about advance and charge as well as fallback and charge. Then started to build my list around it and it makes a HUGE difference! Good luck to you on your ways to mastering the crafts of the sneaky bois! :D

Glad to hear this is useful! It takes a lot of practice against different armies too to get the hang of it, but then you can start generalizing more

If you're playing Primaris RG that is going to be a big chunk of your problem. Short of Eliminators, there are not many Primaris minis that jive well with RG strategy. You are going to want a good mix of cheaper older minis (scouts, old marine tactical squads, ect) winning the game for you while you have Centurions putting in work in your enemy backlines, sprinkle on a smash captain for your Centurions(Shrike _can_ do this, but it's better to just have a extra smash captain for this suicidal backline ambush) and you are going to be a menace. Short of playing like WhiteScars with vehicles, you are simply going to _require_ scouts (Eliminators are too expensive for this). Think of them as mere seeds of cheap grass you can plant on objectives, not very tacticool, but lets your tacticool guys do stuff. But if you are adamantly sticking Primaris, damn the consequences, you're going to want to be a second founding chapter because focused on ambushing melee Bladeguards+ Gene wrought Might + What Have you. But at the end of the day... you are playing XIXth, we have as much plot armor as the Lamenters, so losing battles is fluffy and lore accurate.

Think this is one of the main things I've been struggling getting a grasp on. Currently it's just been me and my friend playing a few matches, we recently did 1 match with our armies more or less completed though that got scrapped cause it was before a party lol. Placements and remembering all the skill/abilities in my army has been the hardest for me to learn.

I like assuming my opponent's average charge roll is 9 while mine is 5. If the strategy and positioning is still solid with those numbers, it is just better if those numbers are flipped.
@thevoxdeus
@thevoxdeus Год назад
Well it's not a terrible rule of thumb. You'll fail your charges a max of 16.6% of the time, and your opponent probably won't even bother charging unless he has nothing to lose or can't do math. Of course, this assumes that you account for any commands, strategens, auras, etc.

No such thing as intent. You simply play by the rules. Why do I say this? Because it's true, and it protects new players from being Hoodwinked by more experienced players. For example, in a recent game and opponent placed a model behind terrain and said, I intend this model to not be in your line of sight during deployment so you can't shoot at it in turn one. I said okay. Then I placed a model down in such a way that gave me line of sight to intended hidden model. He then said, I didn't know you can do that can I move my model? I said no. Don't let players and their subjectivity ruin the rules.
