Hey all. 🙂 These are some of the harmonica solos from ROCK history that in my opinion (and partially in RU-vid's views counters opinions as well) touched the most people, and brought a huge success for the song they were included on. Sure, in blues music you'll find much more impressive solos - technique wise, but blues is not the case in this video. Cheers!
Ever wondered what harmonicas can do in the hand of professionals? Check out this list.

Yes, all those mentioned were undoutably remarkable harmonica solo's. I can't believe they left out Creams Jack Bruce! He pushed the harmonica envelope beyond any of these other players and if you have not heard him, i suggest you listen to Cream's Wheels of Fire double album, the "track" called "TRAIN TIME", live concert perfection from the 60's with Ginger Baker on drums providing railroad grove syncopation, and Bruce's powerful Scotsman blues vocals. Another notable piece is the theme tune of ‘The Old Grey Whistle Test’, the seminal, serious music fans rock slot from BBC 2 in the UK. They used ‘Stone Fox Chase’ by Area Code 615, a Nashville band with (Goodtime) Charlie McCoy on harmonica. Most of the band, inc. McCoy played on Blonde on Blonde, Nashville Skyline and my favourite album of all time, John Stewart’s ‘California Bloodlines’. I also love Dylan’s harmonica on ‘You’re a Big Girl Now’ from Blood on the Tracks. It is the most expressive instrument when played well....

Well, Rock history begun in 1952 in Cleveland Ohio with Alan Freed's Moondog Concert. and in it, playing was Little Walter Chicago Blues Star . He plays harmonica. he had many harmonica hits. This type of Top10 youtube thing is fine and reflects your taste fine,......... but top in rock history??

peter tee Really surprised the only harmonica player ever inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame Little Walter wasnt anywhere on this list. Very sad!

Haha yes. Didn't you know? Elton John, Ralph McTell, Billy Joel, and Sting were rock acts? Nothing says Rock and Roll like Kevin Spacey in a banker's suit playing the intro to Piano Man.

Kept watching thinking “Finger Tips “ by Stevie Wonder was going to be on the list.

I guess Stevie Wonder doesn't count as rock. Also, "The Heart Of Rock and Roll" by Huey Lewis, and "Middle of the Road" by The Pretenders.

Y'all never heard of Alan Wilson ? The blind owl from Canned Heat. Or how about Black Sabbath "the wizard"
@paulkruel1015
@paulkruel1015 5 лет назад
@Marrowbones yes Bob Hite did play harmonica in canned heat but the blind owl was the more talented one who also played harmonica and sang and played guitar and played piano too

Your missing a couple of Springsteen songs. Also there are better Popper solos: ie, But Anyway or What Would You Say with Dave Matthews

Ozark Mountain Daredevils ~ If You Wanna Get To Heaven. You need to do another list with this one, plus some of the others suggested by others, especially the Stones and Doobie Brothers' Long Train Running.

Oops, mea culpa. You are so right, I must have had a brain fart, DB Long Train Running is such a great song that I guess I wanted it on the list twice.
