Griffin is so insightful and erudite. We are so fortunate to have such a writer in Can.

Normally I would agree but spending so much time around the Blue Jays he is starting to drink their Koolaid and the more I hear from him lately the more he sounds like Rogers Media.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I would assume that the GM, Pres and Manager are serious considerations by potential free agents? Meaning that when a player is deciding which team to join it's money first but management team second. You gotta be comfortable with the company and your bosses. I don't get the the comfort vibe emanating from Shapiro or Atkins. They sure don't feel like either "baseball guys" or "people people" like Gillick and Beeston were. And they certainly don't likely have too much longer with the organization. That's has to hurt your already significant free-agent challenges too. I think it's time to get some real baseball guys in to run the show. And a Canadian component would be nice. They keep oozing praise on Shapiro for the renovations. I could have masterminded the renovations - a lot of people could have. He has bungled the team and the farm system. Time to put a new face on this organization before they do more damage to the future of this team in free-agency and big trades. I would hope they do the minimum at the deadline to minimize their impact. Personally I would re-sign Kikuchi and Jansen if possible. If you are serious about the future you are going to need pitching and good backup catchers are hard to find. Dump the dross and play the kids the rest of the way. With the right management team in place I would strongly advocate a move involving Bichette as soon as possible. He looks like he has quit on the team and is waiting for a move. Seems to me you could get a nice package like a young roster player and two or three strong pitching prospects for the next couple of seasons. I think he's bringing them all down and not just with the rally-kills in the middle of the order.

Why has no one said it… Kirk is at least 30 pounds overweight… why is he allowed to come to camp at that size….

I agree. I'm all for being polite but when your an athlete in a major league your body is your money maker and it doesn't seem like he cares to get in shape.

Exactly. Cannot understand how the Blue Jays let this happen. Trading Moreno was just the icing on this cake of crap. Trading Kirk is not even an option.

I never thought Bo was good enough to be the top SS if we wanted to contend but I did think vladdy would be the first baseman and a strong hitter, a clutch hitter. Springer I thought was gonna age out faster than we would have liked but I also knew jays management would make me never wanna go to a game again due to the prices they charge and I was right. Also driving to Toronto from welland is a disaster so I wrote them off last year and only jave watched one game this year. It was Saturdays game vs Tigers and they got booed hard.

Kirk isn't hitting, he isn't a great catcher and, he is a problem when on base. He is overweight and therefore less capable

I dunno, I've been to some very empty Jays games. It takes time but that place will be half full on weekends like the 2000s

No corporate money there. They can't fill private boxes. That's why they left in the first place.

There are so many issues. No farm system. Poor management. This team is far away from being good. We need new management resign Vladdy and start building around him. Raptors are doing it right. They have there young core signed up and ready to go. They are creating a winning culture. Jays don’t have that. I expect rentals will be moved out at the deadline and nothing else. Akins won’t have a say at the deadline since he will be gone in October. No huge trades will be happening.

spencer Horwitz can absolutely be a very good MLB player. Kirk is a good defensive catcher. Jansen should be resigned. With no good catchers in the system, the Jays need Jansen, or would need to sign anther good catcher for next season. Otherwise, the Jays are looking at another season of losing baseball. Jansen should have been resigned last year.

They have to trade Jansen and he is far from an everyday catcher or even a 4 day a week catcher. How quick people forget and are quick to make shit up. Yes Kirk is having a down year BUT 2 weeks at the beginning, for a guy who is a slow starter, to judge as unable to play everyday is so dumb. What about every year when Jansen is hurt and Kirk p[lays everyday? What about last August when Jansen was doing most of the catching and the Jays fell out of it BUT when Jansen got hurt, early September, Kirk caught almost every game and they got in to the playoffs? Hoe about the fact the Blue Jays were over 500 until Jansen came back, did most of the catching and they have not even sniffed 500 sense? How about the fact that as bad as Kirk has played his defensive metrics are still better than Jansen and he has more RBIs in spite of Jansen hitting in mostly RBI spots in the order? The Blue Jays will NEVER win and have never won anything with Jansen behind the plate!!!! Every year they got to the playoffs was AFTER Jansen got hurt!!!! Do the team a favor and trade him. Rogers media have him WAY OVER HYPED. The reality is Jansen is an of injured, below average defender that will have about a 170 batting average for most of the year, with some power, that will be offset by a couple of hot streaks to settle his yearly totals to 220 average, 15 homeruns, 35-40 RBIs and score 30-35 runs and 2 or 3 steals. (He maybe hard pressed to even reach that this year as he has become even less productive when he does hit) The more he plays the worse he plays and maybe best suited to a third string catcher bench bat that you play everyday when hot but sit until that happens.
