Atkin's decision to trust this core was not necessarily unfounded, if the star players were playing at their career averages they would likely be in a better position. It's not entirely his fault that his three best hitters became absolute horseshit in the blink of an eye, and it's genuinely surprising I don't see any props to him for getting Justin Turner who has carried the offense through the front half of the season.

When Ryu and Springer got signed with very little intent to keep developing the draft picks, I knew this team was taking a horrible gamble. I really like Varsho, but trading away Moreno is still going to haunt this teamtill the end like Michael Young.
Get rid of Vladdy. He was never the elite hitter the Jays saw in him. 2021 was an aberration., who knows why. Maybe he needs to play in a minor league park to perform. Or he needs someone to deliberately throw him pitches he can hit...like in a home run derby.

Vaddy is a huge disappointment it's not only his lack of hitting but his baseball sense isn't up to par to be so important for the bluejays I wish they would look at his base running prowess, he's terrible cause he can't concentrate.

Looks like a continuation of last years problems. Can't hit. Can't score. It's difficult to sit through these games. They are frustrating and boring to watch.
Late last season I told some friends that the Jays would be smart to trade Vlad and Alex Manoah while they still had some significant value even after a poor season. Vlad at times looks like a kid playing in a sand box, just doesn't seem to take the game seriously enough, I could be totally wrong, but you watch him in the dugout and he always seems to be playing pranks on teammates even when the team is down. He should be more serious and show some bloody emotion, get angry, especially after 0 or 1 hit games which has been the norm lately. A change in venue may do everyone some good although for the second year now it feels like Vlad was just a flash in the pan.
Same problems as last season. Nobody took responsibility and this is what happens. Rogers care more about renovating 'SkyDome' and charging more for tickets/concessions than actually fielding a decent team.
It is absolutely painful to see Gurriel and Hernandez popping off like crazy. Swanson trade was understandable. Varsho trade felt crummy the second it happened and proved to be horrific. So sad to see the blue jays get rid of their offensive talent to end up in their current position.

Lol man, it took three years, but my analytics of watching every game, every at bat and predicting that the jays core isn't strong enough and that Vladdy is over rated was correct 3 years ago and that the Blue Jays analytics is garbage. The difference is simple, the Jays don't use analytics to measure their moves, they use it to create a narrative and to gaslight fans.

I really don’t understand that. Why Vogelbach? Ohtani was not coming to Toronto. He was a distraction from the terrible decisions made by Atkins and Shapiro. When they were hiredfrom Cleveland I figured this was bad. Cleveland has been better without. They took a good team of Anthopolis and have dragged it down. Atlanta get Anthopolis and are a top team with a World Series. Blue jays are swept out of their post season showings. John Schneider can’t make game decisions. Glaringly obvious in both playoffs but unfathomable when he yanked Berrios who was dominating, for no good reason. He really seems to have no drive or doesn’t care. It is quite obvious he can’t motivate. Get rid of all three and get some management who want to win. As for Vlad, see if he responds to new management. If so, great. If not, trade.
Ross Atkins and Shapiro are the biggest issue with this team, they spent the money on the wrong players, they draft poorly so the minor leagues are light on talent(farm system ranked 24th), and lets not forget their poor choices for manager.
Schneider has to go, trade Vladimir he brings the entire team down he will never be a leader. The team is good but has given up they do not believe in the system, the top 3 are the bottom three.
@@janetd5121nah that’s just garbage… Sure the front office has been bad but they are certainly not the biggest problem The biggest problem is absolutely, 150% the hitters, specifically Vlad, Bo, Springer and Kirk… These were the guys they relied on and they’re the guys who have the natural ability to be a great top 4… All 4 of these guys are playing awful and with the exception of Bo, I don’t think any will bounce back to even a real all star level (a real all star level is not just making the all star game because of popularity… I’m talking .825+ OPS for Springer, .775+ OPS for Kirk and around .900 for Vlad) If this team had those numbers, we are easily in playoff contention… Calling run prevention a problem is just retarded on this guy’s part… The defense significantly elevated Bassitt, Berrios, Kikuchi and even Gausman last year and it’s still be good this year… The bats on the other hand have failed to score more than 5 runs in all but 2 games
I'm pretty sure the biggest problem is John Schneider. The guy who kept Vogelbach on the team. The guy who has a gg 3rd baseman but rarely starts him at 3rd. The guy who switches 3 to 4 players every game because he wants to get everyone in like he's coaching a 10 year Olds team, the guy who will leave a struggling starting pitcher in so he will eat up innings...who cares if he's making it so there is no chance the Jays can come back, the guy who has taken out 2 starting pitchers that should have been left alone in playoff games, just to lose because of it, the guy who doesn't like being a role model cause he just wants to be everyone's friend, the guy who makes 3 to 10 screw ups every game, the guy who has no gut instinct whatsoever, the guy who is continually screwing around with positions, Batting orders, pinch hitters and runners...almost like he doesn't know what he's doing. I'm looking for an LA sweep, and if that's not enough, a hot KC team sweep - maybe this will get Schneider fired and we can re-boot for May and on with Mattingly. Schneides alone ha lost a few games for us with his decision making, going back to pulling Berrios last fall. The bad base running still lingers, the "missed defensive" plays happen to often, and no one is ever held accountable. He cannot get the best out his players, and it is obvious. Atkins needs to go too but executives don get fired in-season unless it's huge.

Well I don’t think an entire roster reconstruction is necessarily the only way…… these guys are hitting so far below their potential and have been way better at times before , but yeah something certainly must change right now to shake things up a bit. …. Maybe fire the hitting coach because it’s the simplest thing to start with and then go from there.
Trading away many of our experienced players was a monumental catastrophe. Had our team remained with the majority of last years players we would have been well on our way. Now we have a relatively new team starting at the beginning… again! The only fans Shapiro and Atkins were fooling pretending to pursue Ohtani was themselves. And what was the expectations of one multi million dollar player? Shapiro and Atkins must be replaced . I will NOT be attending any more Jays games at the Rogers Centre until Shapiro and Atkins have been replaced.
Martinez needs to come up.. Barger needs to stay up.. Kirk needs to go (stupid to trade Gabe over him).. Springer needs to go way down in the order.. Vlad needs to move down to 5th in the order.. The Jays have good players who don't get their opportunities because the top of the order can't get out of their own way. Let's start by changing the lineup. Bench some guys, phantom IL somebody. Do SOMETHING. Shuffle the deck so at LEAST the opposition has to do some work. Let's get creative. Expecting fans to sit here and take it is not going to work.
Another sign of bad management is their farm system and what's happened to that. I see it's gone from 7th ranking in 2021 to 24th. Everybody knew what was wrong with the team and what did they do? They signed a couple 40 yr olds ..

I mean...GJG, I guess, but this team is just no fun at all to watch right now. They aren't playing any aspect of the game well - the offense is abysmal, pitching has been either terrible or so unsupported with offense that it doesn't matter, and the defense has been largely average. There's just nothing this team is doing that's worth watching. Baseball is a hobby - it's not supposed to feel like a chore watching games.
The only thing that is going to change this teams management is the Stadium being near empty for home games like it was during the darks days of ownership under Interbrew.
Vlad may well be the single most overrated player in the game. The only reason I say “may” is that I think his rating has gone waaaay done. He’s moving from overrated to bust. He could turn it around partially. But 2021 was the outlier. And his I excusable weight and shit swings show that she’s not giving it anywhere near his all. He’s an entitled player who cannot lead and shows everyday that NOT trying your best is acceptable. He is inexcusably overweight, he dances around like a jackass regardless of how he and the team are doing, he shoots down a generous 18.05m after two straight years of decline, and then even though he got 20m shows no signs of wanting to earn it beyond becoming Less fat. I will not miss him.
The pain of being a Blue Jays fan lasts decades. It has been so disappointing and the mistakes we made in those years we were competitive. We should’ve won at least one World Series in 2015-16 but two many mistakes. Blue Jays are no longer a small market team with a low payroll we should be able to compete every year with support from ownership. Just need ownership to wake up and fire Shapiro and Atkins.
As a Dodger fan… I’ll admit something. I found you guys out cause of the Ohtani free agency roller coaster, and I would come back to your reaction videos to give me glee. But I also watch other youtubers give breaks downs of their teams to help me get a view on the competition in the league. And watching your content has made me a fan of your show. WOW simply said you are right! Look being a guy at my age and CND. When I played ball holding a 350 avg. I was taught Sm. Ball and I wish I could teach these guys the correct fundamental basics on the approach of playing this game. Just give me some time with them but I know that wouldn't happen so let's sit back and we'll watch this tale a tale of this sinking ship ... Where each game is a 3 hour cruise to a 50/50 sinking ship 😢 So let's climb on board and hope for the best for the Jays game that I now hope to miss😢 this is certainly sad but true❤
They had a chance to do something about this during the offseason but they did very little. I also think the clownish clubhouse attitude has made this team not serious about winning. Vlad made first base into a social setting. I never got the impression he was serious about winning. Now that we are in panic mode it is hard to turn this ship around.
The downfall began with the hiring of Shapiro (Atkins was part of the package). I said at that time that the Jays would not go anywhere under his leadership. I haven't been wrong. Schneider is a scapegoat. Valdy and Bo are mediocre because they berlieve their own press. Subsequently, they're NOT fixing what needs fixing. Luckily the Jays play in Toronto, where winning isn't necessary to sell out seats.
Yes I agree with everything- the game last night was a nightmare- the score for LA should have been higher- the only think that kept it at 12 was some of the relief pitching - I can't honestly say we are getting out of this for this series if we keep playing like yesterday 😢
They were in position a few years ago but now it's seemingly been lost. The Varsho trade although it's looking much better right now was highly questionable and they sacrificed too much offense to shore up the defense. Plus per the video the biggest problem is the core has failed and that is ultimately going to have to be addressed.
So yesterday afternoon I said to my wife that there would be a 10 run difference. I thought maybe 10-0. The way they are playing 82 games maybe the best they can win. Major shake up will be required.

Lisa's husband, Andy here. Can I ask you a question? Do you feel the coaching staff/management have lost the locker room/club house? It looks like it to me. The other option could be that these players (eg, Vladdy, Bo, Biggio etc) have been idolised since they were coming through and maybe have become too comfortable in Toronto. Maybe it may do both parties good to part ways amicably and start a fresh. There has been much talk and excitement around the Blue Jays over the last couple of years but the Orioles and the Yankees have definitely overtaken them now. Anyway, Go Jays, love from the U.K. 👍💙🤍💙
Players like Davis Schneider, Ernie Clement, and now Addison Barger have kept me interested this season. If one or two of those guys have a breakout, Varsho and Turner can keep doing what they are doing and the top of the order can return to their career averages then I would feel better about our odds of making the playoffs this season. I’m hoping we can stay in the race for a wildcard spot and the Astros tank. Then we get Kyle Tucker (power lefty) from the Astros at the trade deadline. I know I’m dreaming. 😂

Management is a pack of fools. In 2024 you don't try to build a team with the hopes of stringing hits together. Pitching is too good, you need bloops and blasts. The average player has good enough defense, power is needed. Get rid of IKF and KK.
