I was born and grew up in Barrow-in-Furness and as a youngster I didn't appreciate its unique history and setting.
In early June 2016 I had the opportunity to visit The Town Hall and climb to the top of the clock tower. I took a camera, of course, but this is more than just a few scenes from inside the Victorian Gothic Revival building and views from the top. Good job really because even though it was June it was not the clearest of days!
More importantly for me, The Town Hall is an unchanging, fixed point in a town centre that has seen much change over the years since my childhood.
So, if you can spare 10 minutes, this is a visit to The Town Hall in 2016 but also a look back at the history of the building and of the streets immediately around.
The seagulls are part of the Barrow experience sorry!
