That’s crazy that you went to Gruene, I’m from nearby. You’re in the heart of Texas German country, which I can actually speak. It’s a really forgotten and rare part of American heritage. I’ve been to couple of dances there at the hall. Would also recommend Fredricksburg as well for that.

I spent some time in New Braunfels and Canyon Lake when my in-laws lived there, but never had a chance to spend any time in Gruene. I hope I get to go back. It looks fantastically interesting for any student of history!

Man I love Gruene. Used to go there a lot with my wife when we were younger. The Grist Mill serves up a damn good steak.

I used to go to Greune Hall as a kid for the live music. Not that far from my hometown.

i drove thru gruene on a business trip back in 84. nice little diner there on main when i stopped. really good coffee
