I like how grill and chill are now encouraging brew to continue the episode in contrast to their typical earlier behavior of being fearful of some topic becoming an episode
"As the ash fell and clogged the air, making it difficult to breathe" is a bit of an understatement. They were cooked to death by gases so hot that some of their skulls exploded from their brains boiling inside.
the Yellowstone volcano has the power to destroy most of the united states and the ash will cause mutch more trouble for other areas of the world and causing most parts of the world to he unable to support life hope i fixed it and made it more accurate
I think many families that are in a disaster-prone area with possible evacuations make "bug-out" bags of their most prized possessions and emergency supplies in case they are needed. Even if they are never needed, the possibility of leaving your whole material possessions and your sense of security and safety is scary. Edit for clarification.
There's another volcano called Soufrière Hills on the British island of Montserrat its 1995-1997 eruptions caused the capital Plymouth to be evacuated, burnt, and buried in ash. It's still the de jure capital of the island (until a new capital is built), which makes it the only ghost town that serves as the capital of a territory. And to this day, half of the island is an exclusion zone as a result of the volcanic activity. Plymouth is the Pompeii of the Caribbean
I confused sulfur dioxide with sulfur hexafluoride for a long time, and realizing this made the video that much scarier. Furthermore, for all the times I spread misinformation concerning the fun gas while accidently referring to the fatal gas: I'M SO SORRY!!! I'd correct every post if I knew where to find them!
I love that even if it is hard saying Icelandic words like Eyjafjallajökull and jólakötturinn in the christmas episode with all 13 jólasveinunum (santa clauses) Brew always tries atleast once to pronounce them
I remember that volcano in Iceland. I personally called it the Ice Volcano since every single newscast called it “The Volcano in Iceland”. Since it was under a glacier, I’ll call it the Glacier Volcano.
I was in college then, and I had at least 1 friend who ended up stuck in Europe during study abroad because there was a period where absolutely all flights were grounded
I live in Germany and the sky was sooo blue. Not disturbed by any planes. It was cool. But I didn't have to go on a flight😂 And the volcano is easy to pronounce. It's like eye-ya-fyuh-tluh-jök-ktl. Ö is like the i in flirt or bird but shorter. Ktl should actually be something like kütl, but since English speakers can't pronounce the ü anyway, I think it's more accurate that way.
In that case though the mask was needed because of toxic fumes, and the masks didn't need to be worn in buildings for hours, just when walking to and from places outside. Masks currently do, for something that unlike toxic volcanic gas isn't fatal to most (and many don't even get severe symptoms), and people have to wear it inside which hinders development of facial recognition in children in particular, especially when children aren't even at much risk to get Covid any moe serious than the flu. Edit: When i say "facial recognition" I don't mean technology, I mean a child's basic capacity to recognize facial expressions that develops early on and is harmd by all this mask-wearing for something they aren't at risk for.
me in idaho: you guys say something, cant hear ya over the mask stifling your verbal audio... yeah we didnt care about wearing masks, we left the option on the table, but ultimately, no...
I haven't finished the video yet, but mmhmmm, I definitely know what your talking about. Ha, what idiots! Commenting about something they haven't even watched. Who would do such a thing? Wait
Hey Brew - or anyone that may know - I remember you mentioning in the past that you went to college. I was wondering what you studied and what kinds of degrees you have. I know there is a team of people that put on these videos, too, and probably a team of researchers. What kinds of professionals are on your team of researchers? Love the videos, just a curious fan. Thanks!
@@jesuscornstorm737 They're the same, though? Karen's and Kevin's who feel like the slightest discomfort shouldn't be allowed to affect their lives...even at the cost of literally everyone around them.
@@Veristelle- no, theyre not, sure, they ARE part of the same mountain of poop, but they are significantly different, like a side mound that is jutting out from the side of it, like the flat earthers...
@@jesuscornstorm737 When I mean the same, I meant the same people are usually both, if one or the other. If they don't understand why one is important, and refuse to do it, it's usually that they wouldn't for anything related to public health, or other "potential inconveniences."
hey ! my parents r fighting rn and i just got a video notif , , im glad its late bc ur videos r the perfect escape :D tysm for putting sm effort into these videos
I feel so bad for the people that were in Pompeii when the volcano erupted I can't imagine what it was like seeing the destruction around you and your family's being hurt and then being covered by lava and ash I can't imagine the searing pain they felt before they passed out from the pain and died. makes me cry just thinking about it 😓😭
I thought they only had to wear gas masks outside because the houses all had special ventilation systems provided by the government, and everyone on the island were volunteers in an experiment to see how well people could live in the environment.
Something I'd like to mention about flights being banned over areas of volcanic activity, it isn't because of SO2 or deadly gases, it's due to the ash, the ash tends to accumulate inside the combustion chambers of modern turbofan engines causing them to flameout, plus the ash essentially acts like sandpaper to the planes airframe, windows and damages instrumentation. Its essentially like driving down a long winding country road with no headlights, throttle control, steering or brakes.
I grew up on an active volcano... it, for the first time in my life stopped erupting about a year ago... which made me sad. Now It is back up and making a lava lake.
Well, there are two volcanoes in Taiwan, one on Guishan island (which directly translates to turtle mountain island, because it looks like a turtle of the cost of Yilan), and a group of volcanoes near Taipei (in New Taipei and Kellung) , and there are a lot of volcanic islands, most are territory of Taiwanese counties (for example, Greeen island (not to be confused for Greenland) and Orchid island in Taidung), and sonme are big enough for it to be a seprate county (for example Punghu county).
I wish I could see Pompeii ag-. It was [probably] beautiful. Making me emotional again, and I just got emotional from the Egyptian part of the museum yesterday.
I went to My Etna in Sicily years ago and that is very similar. Life was just sort of saved as the people were loving, or well fleeing when it erupted!
Sulfuric acid is one thing that is makes wearing a gas mask a must during volcano activity, but also the ash itself, if that goes into your lungs, it forms a quick cement damaging your lungs for life.
If they have a condition that makes them hard to breathe then okay, I trust them but if they don't and complain for whiny reasons then this is a big no no.
So thats where the Arknights character gets her name! 🤣. For those who dont know, she is a video game character who works as a volcano scientists, her name is literally EyjaFjalla (Pronounced A-yah-fee-ahllah)
I used to live near Mt Shasta California - we all joked (ish) that its still very capable of wiping everyone nearby out. Was always spooky when we heard updates about its activity!
I don't live anywhere near a volcano, but every year some idiots burn the mountains for some ridiculous beliefs, and it always make it hard to breathe, is as if someone were pressing against my chest constantly and one night I woke up gasping for air, I can't even start to imagine how horrible would be like in a volcano eruption escenario
