Olga is my favorite guitar player. He's got precision and speed, he's a solid rhythm player who has a percussive style that's synchronized flawlessly with the drums. And whether with his Tele or his Les Paul, his tone is maddeningly perfect. Amazing that he still has the same energy onstage that he had in 1979!!
Seriously one of the musically professional and happy bands you will ever see or hear... Luv these guys. Tremendous, wonderful, magic, spot on and top notch
I think these guys should be the UK’s 2022 Eurovision entry. They are very popular right across Europe and, let’s face it, they couldn’t do any worse than our recent entries. And look at some of the recent winners…. I’m sure that Olga could come up with something suitably tasteful.
I was just thinking how The Toy Dolls live have totally adopted the regime and cohesion of a Ramones show. No excess bullshit between songs, etc. Very much an "all business".set!
i think they are the tightest band on the planet, i saw them live in a workies club in my home town o' sunderland many many years ago and i have lived in london many many years now and i'm so glad you tube chucked them my way once again, lead guitarist lived in same block as my mums friend and he is a nice guy i'm telling you, they were the business then and they are the business now :) and i'm so so glad to know they are still alive and 'kikin ha ha ha
I guess that's similar to the 'tele' experience me and my band had of seeing Wilko live in '76? We were all into 'strats' and 'Les Pauls' at the time :-) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LeoKCJNI-k4.html
This is the first time Iv'e seen a band that's better live. Their mixing is perfect,no one flubs anything, and the energy is infectious, even through a screen. Here's to another 40!
I first saw the Toy Dolls at Sunderland Uni back in the 80's...I wondered what the fuck I'd just paid my £5? for!! The Toy Dolls, King Kurt and The Macc Lads where worth travelling to dodgy clubs to go and get involved in the insanity! And we did quite a lot 🍺🍺🍺 Ahhh the 1980s...they where shit, and I mean proper shite...even the weather was shite. I worked in a bloody knackers yard (dead animals) as it was a rare thing called a job!! Thank fuck for good Afghan Black, Red Leb and these guys!! Peace Charlie 🇬🇧
wow, they are still around? i never knew how they looked like, and i have at least a half dozen of their albums and listened to them a lot back in high school. they instilled in me that punkrock doesn't have to be so serious. i introduced them to my niece, so she knows nellie the elephant and spiders in the dressing room oi oi! :)
Discovered this band back in the mid 80s when MTV played Nellie the elephant. I saw them live a couple of times in the 90s and I still listen to their albums. One of my absolute favourite bands!
I saw them live once back in 1995. Boring. Who am I kidding? It was tons of fun, impossible to be otherwise. Olga is rythmically brilliant playing guitar. Possibly the most underrated guitar player ever. Shame! Conclusion: tons of fun, tons of talent. Funny how talented ones don't get due recognotion 'cause they play fun music. Most people don't know about this band and how great and talented they are.
