The Toyota Corolla Cross GR-S is a Familiar Hybrid Crossover! [Car Review]
The 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross GR-Sport Hybrid is the top-spec Corolla Cross in the Philippines today. In this Filipino car review, we take a good look at the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross GRS Hybrid to see how it performs as a fuel efficient yet sporty little family crossover. The 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross GRS has a lot of GR-sport goodies like wheels, a sport tuned suspension, and some GR badging, but the 2023 Corolla Cross GRS also has a hybrid powertrain, similar to the Toyota Prius and the Toyota Corolla Altis hybrid. The 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross GRS goes head to head against the Honda HRV RS Turbo and the Nissan Kicks, but this Toyota Corolla Cross GRS hybrid has its own set of features. The 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid GRS is priced well enough for a Japanese hybrid vehicle, although it is still more expensive than the top-spec Nissan Leaf VL.

Just research on how long a typical hybrid battery dies. If you check for the Prius, Toyota has data that it will last 160k-240k KMs. If you log in a lot of kilometers yearly (ave of 20k per year), this will last you around 8-10 yrs before changing the battery. If you are not a high milaege user, the battery lifespan would become longer as long as you take care of it. But once the battery starts to affect the car's efficiency after years of usage, you'll need to spend between 100k-200k Pesos to buy a new one.

Batteries are batteries, true, technologies have improved dramatically over the years but after 2-3 years use, it can only maintain 85% charge and will reduce further no matter how much you take care of it. This is the characteristics of a hybrid or electric car battery. But the cost of changing the batteries will reduce as production cost lowers with the numbers of cars out on the road. The life of a battery doesn't really concern me to be honest, coz usually change cars after 5-6 years.

The average battery life of a Toyota Prius is 8-10 years or around 150,000 miles. Regarding battery life, the Prius is one of the most reliable cars on the road. It's the same system.

Not sure if the ground clearance of 140mm is accurate? I believe it's around 160mm from most of the reviews I read and watched.

It varies from site to site since no official figures were published. The underside of the front lip did scrape my parking ramp, and that only happens with sedans that have a clearance below 150mm.

When a car manufacturer declares the hybrid batteries will last the life of the car, what it simply means is 8 to 10years. Very similar when ford or bmw says the tranny fluid needs no replacement for life. Thats simply silly. Batteries wear overtime. They dont last 10 years. In Dubai hybrid taxis are replaced every 6 years average.

Exactly. 8 years is the battery life. If nothing goes wrong. After 8 years, you are bound to replace it with a new one. Its a whopping 350k. And after 8 years, you cant sell the car coz the new buyer has to buy a new battery. The car willl be dirt cheap. Kinda defeats the purpose.

@@Mabrookla in 5 years time bawi mo na ang cost ng battery sa gas savings mo. Tapos madami ka pa natipid sa maintenance like hindi ka madalas magpalit ng brake pads, wala ka papalitan na belts and wala kang alternator and starter na ipapaservice. Kung itutuloy mo ang ownership after 5 years ok pa din kasi after 8 years naga-accept pa ng 90% charge ang battery. If you will sell it after 5 years mataas ang resale value ng toyota hybrid. Either way panalo ka.

@@alvindanica time has changed brader, wala ng secret ang mga Japanese company about the reliability of their cars, nakuha na yon ng mga Chinese. They’d have given the technology already sa mga Chinese since nagtie up sila sa mga Chinese na imanufacture nila ang mga Japanese car models na binebenta locally in China, ganun din ang mga Europeans, kahit sa motorcycles ganun din. Kung yung mga Japanese, european and American companies nga ay nag tiwala sa mga Chinese para makatipid, syempre ako rin, mura na fully pack pa ng features and better looking cars pa.

With how the EV and the battery growth look like, the innovation and enhancement will definitely make the cost lower. Remember when the first smartphones can't even last a day? If you are familiar with computers, compare the growth to CPU and GPU over the years where they hit peak. It's the same here, even if the battery dies after 10 years, it can be replaced, other countries are preparing to do that since hybrid and other EVs are near the 10 year mark. So yeah, the cost you save from fuel efficiency will definitely cover the battery replacement.
