They never discontinued the 70 series's LC. It's been for sale in Australia continuously for decades. They just stopped selling it in its Japanese home market and have recently recommenced.
Thing is thou they go up in price as they get older llus get 1 mill ks out of them. The US don't like them because they are diesel so really they are an investment. I have had mine 22 yrs and done 930 000ks and won't sell it. Most yanks trade their vehicles every 2 to 3 yrs
EPA, passing them modern US automotive safety standards, modern crash testing, gotta pass that federal emissions testing and make it a US spec vehicle, and its a diesel V8, so ain’t gonna see this in the US. Waitlist would be like 3 - 6+ years if it was ever sold in the US brand new
my dad bought a LC 79 (RV trim) model in 08 and they tried to tell him A/C was an optional extra. He said show him a RV trim model without A/C and he'd pay it. He didn't pay for that 'option'.
The only problem is they charged around 100 grand for a car designed decade's ago so needed no design work re tooling nothing. Also I've never seen a 69 grand 70 series
It's a beast. 4.5 litre V-8 5 speed manual. Definitely NOT suited for marketing/advertising executives, project managers, posers or real estate agents. Mainly designed for real heterosexual men.
