This video covers the basics of understanding and flying in a left-hand traffic pattern and/or airport circuit in Flight Simulator.
The flight takes place in Skagit's Regional Airport (KBVS) on runway 28. We takeoff, climb to 1,000 ft AGL and complete the pattern where we return and land back on rwy 28.
Everything presented in this video should only be applied to Flight Simulation and/or virtual aviation. THIS IS NOT FOR REAL WORLD USE.
I am not a real world pilot, and therefore cannot testify on behalf of the actual processes of real world aviation.

The departure leg can be called the leaving leg, the goodbye leg.. all sorts of names. The upwind leg on the other hand is another leg - not covered here - on which you fly when you do a missed approach. You would basically fly the upwind leg at TPA and the same way you would the downwind leg.

It's generally somewhere between 1,000 and 1,500 ft AGL. It does vary though. 1,000 ft was used here because it didn't require too much of a climb.

The flaps should not be extended at 85-90 kts before turning base, it is too fast, you should wait until the IAS falls within the white arc. :)

Yes it was. However, you wouldn't see any performance improvements using the 295 over say... the 8800. FSX is all about CPU power.

Message for Guy014 : Was this made with your GTX 295 rig? I'm gonna be building pretty much the same rig except for the mother board, I'll be using the Asus P6T deluxe. I've seen some videos on how FSX runs on the GTX 295, and this guy called AirForceAce21's videos are kinda laggy. I'm ordering the parts today. Could you give me some tips on how to get my FSX to run as good as this with the 295? I will overclock my i7 for sure. Thanks in advance, reply quickly please!

Johann Bach Actually it's a good idea to call all pattern leg entries. The crosswind call lets a plane entering the 45 know that you are not departing, but staying in the pattern. It is protocol from the AIM. I have flown Skagit for over 4 years, and it can get crazy busy on the weekends, so letting 3-5 other aircraft know where you all are is critical for safety. There may be a couple of aircraft lined up ready to depart, two in the pattern, and some calling or nearing the 45 entry to the pattern, and then a business jet announces a straight-in approach. The FAA changed the runways to 11-29 a few years back...too funny! Just got my AGI & IGI ratings, so if you need any more info, just ask. 😎

Nick, not directed at you I just used the reply click in you post b/c there was not many left. GDFS I would've waited until 439K landed B4 I rushed my take off and occupy the runway while another Plane is in short final. There was no reason for the rush take off and consequent risk. Nice video btw. thanx for posting
