I've been with you four since... I think 2014. This is absolutely my favorite episode that y'all have ever done. I agree that this is a chilling story, and the way that you conveyed it to Ethan and Ben is fantastic! It's telling that they didn't ask a bunch of 'Well how did that happen...' and spent the episode going "Oh no!" "No way!" that just shows you how good King is on a mini

I'll give Tom King a lot of praise for writing books that introduce me to characters that I wouldn't normally consider. This and Mister Miracle are both great works. Also with this being the NYCC episode it's just one more thing to associate with my amazing trip out there to meet the gang. If only I'd known you guys were filming an episode I would have tried to spot you in the window lol.

Have you read Omega Men and Sheriff of Babylon? Both are also quite good.

@@Grievousish Sheriff, being a self-contained mini, is easy to get into and out of. Omega Men basically just needs you to know that Kyle Rayner used to be a Green Lantern, is now the White Lantern, and that's pretty much it. It has references to the original Omega Men series from the 80's, Stellarium is from an old '70's Superman book, and the Citadel are a Starfire villain, but you don't really NEED to know that to get into the series. They just sort of anchor it in continuity (which, I think, is one of the things Tom King does really well). Both are informed by knowing that Tom King worked for the CIA and was stationed in the Middle East. (Apparently, Sheriff was close enough to being autobiographical that he had to get each issue cleared by national intelligence before publication in case there were classified locations of sites, or whatever). Omega Men, especially, is an awesome allegory for how the complexities of geopolitics can really muddy a person's idealism. Anyway, my general rule with Tom King is that if he's writing a 12-issue mini, I pick it up, and I ignore his ongoing and event books. So far, that has served me well. (If you do pick up Omega Men, pay special attention to the art. I think it's issues 6 and 9 that really wowed me with things as simple as laying out panels in the grid; the art is every bit as much the star of that book as the writing)

It's just that his particular writing style isn't a one-size-fits-all sort of deal. There are just certain kinds of stories and characters he can't write. But when he's put in his wheelhouse, he produces amazing results.

About the audio I'd listen to morse code being played through an old CB radio to get an epsiode of Back Issues. EDIT: After watching the episode, WOW holy crap that was amazing, heart-wrenching, and dark. Amazing epsiode. Just non-stop bad ideas being followed by bad ideas by the characters. Ooof its intense.

As someone who loves Superman and Spider-Man it should be very telling that this is now my favorite episode of back issues of all of them. That was an amazingly complex story that I’d call a character study of humanity trying to be felt by “robots” and I can’t wait to watch it again and again.

Sal I don't remember, are Wiccan and Speed still a thing, or are they still erased? Only because if they are still around, then doesn't that kind of mean Viv has two half brothers, so that's not...soooo bad. She would still have a family of sorts. Man that would be REALLLLLY awkward around the holidays, wouldn't it. Just imagine it, you visiting with your ex-wife, your two real not-real sons, your not real, real daughter, and formerly real, but now not real, real dog. and we think Christmas with our divorced parents is awkward and tense, LOL.

Maybe Christmas with the Visions: Wanda and Vision seeing each other again, Viv meeting Speed & Wiccan, Jocasta comes over with a re-built Victor Mancha, Then Virginia mark II activates and all hell breaks loose, Viv then feels she has to choose between her two parents, and we out this was all started by Pym-tron. Working Title: A Vision of a white Christmas.

This book is chilling and beautiful, the Con makes a nice background despite the noise and pop ins. The visual aids and sight gags are as wonderful as they always are. In retrospect this does make TK's Batman run more disappointing. Maybe Batman/Catwoman will be good. We will see

I have an older comic friend who felt super personal attacked by this one. And me being a dumb, young kid was like "This is baller!" but he's like "Don't you get what he's trying to say about the traditional family and the blue collar worker and the never at home Dad trying fix everything with one dumb gesture?!" Me "Kinda, but this robo-chick just pulled this dude heart out! And now I want a zombie dog" then he Youngblood's back in my face and didn't talk to me for like 30 minutes 🤣

Great episode guys! Worthy of the amazing story you covered. Ben's reactions in particular were excellent. I had heard rave reviews of this series for a while and finally got down to buying it from Comixology like 6 months ago and it blew my fucking mind. I had no idea what the story was about, I had no idea who the creative team were, everything was a surprise and an incredibly pleasant one. I haven't read any current continuity comics from Marvel in more than a decade (dropped off after Secret Invasion) so I wasn't familiar with Victor or that lineup of Avengers, but it was a minor adjustment. The core of the story, the emotion, the tragedy of it is universal. I've recommended this story to a couple of friends who aren't too into comics but are into good storytelling.

Something you guys didn’t mention I think that I thought was heartbreaking was Virginia singing ‘row your boat’ because sometimes she would repeat words two or three times and that song is about constantly repeating words so she sings it to make her sound natural and normal. I thought that was really really clever writing (no pun intended just then)

I liked the parallel between the dog, it being a breed not found in nature, and unable to survive without its creators; and Vision's family, being people not found in nature, and are unable to survive without their creator. Also I wish Vision named the android dog Vi-Do, you know like Fido (F-eye-dow), LOL. What does Scarlet Witch think? Well, what does any Ex think about the new person in your life? Granted this is a little different, or REALLLLLY different. lol

Hey Sal don’t know if you’ll see this, but I think you guys should do Hellboy!! I don’t think you guys have made an episode of it, and it’s such a great series. Maybe the first episode can be Seed of Destruction and Wake the devil. If that episode does well then you can maybe continue with a part two and three. It would be interesting to see Ethan and Ben’s take on the story of Anung un Rama.
