Scottie actually made more money than mj in totality with the Bulls. MJ was grossly underpaid for the majority of his career until the last few seasons. Most of mj's money was made in endoesements throughout his career.

I was gonna say, it's a huge mistake in the video when the guy says MJ made "30 million a year" in the 90s. He only made 30 and then 33 million in his last two seasons ('97 and '98) as a Bull.
@gratitudedude4280

Another example of Jordan playing for the love of the game. He didn’t really care how much he was paid. Other people were making more per year than he was his entire career until the last two years I believe.

@@gratitudedude4280 that is not totally fair. MJ had that Nike money rolling in from start so he never had to really worry since he knew overall he was printing money without including his NBA salary. Your point is still valid though since I do not think he would have cared to much as long as they were giving him q good enough roster to win with

His true colors, his complete lack of character has been exposed to all. I feel as you do, but probably the worst thing he did was that he never gave MJ his condolences when MJ lost his father. What is so telling is that he deliberately, purposely did not do that. That was your teammate and supposedly your good friend and you say nothing on purpose? I lost all respect for him. And MJ never took it to heart until he found out that it was calculated and intentional. As far as I'm concerned, there's no coming back from that.

I don't understand when people say Scottie sacrificed to do the little things. That was his game! He was never MJ or Kobe or Penny or Grant Hill. Scottie's game was to do the things that support the main guy. Play defense, run the offense, take charges, rebound.... That's what he did when MJ retired. That's what he did when he went to Portland. That's not a sacrifice. That's why he was in the league.

Oh yes.. i just watched a halftime interview in 94. Phil moved Scottie to SG position, when MJ left, and had Kukoc on starting SF. He didn't want it, as he said that it takes alot from his game. He said he gets the opportunity to get his shot off rebounds, or penetration from MJ. So instead they switched positions with Kukoc. But when Kukoc was asked to close games, he didn't want that too. When the Bulls were losing Grant said in an interview that Scottie doesn't get what MJ had to face every night being the face of their every loss, what he only sees are the wins. And it finally blew up to his face, and was throwing chairs in San Antonio, kicking lockers at Utah. I think it was briefly mentioned in the last dance

Yea Thottie Pippen has disgraced himself over the years! As a die hard Chicago Bulls fan since 1985 I’m ashamed of what he has become!Like you mentioned I always had great amount of respect for him understanding he was always going to be second to Jordan and playing his role to the T!He was limited offensively!Yes he had moments but he never was a great scorer especially in clutch time!He always struggled when the game got tight in the 4th quarter especially in the playoffs! While he had a nice all around game especially defensively,he wasn’t the guy to lead a team to a championship! He was always a 2 not a 1!Kids these days have this bogus idea Pippen was on the level of Jordan but look at his career numbers! He is most definitely one of the reasons Jordan was able to go 6-0 but without Jordan we don’t know who Scottie Pippen is!

Yup. And unfortunately for Scottie, a lot of the stuff in the Last Dance that Scottie didn't like, im sorry but there are millions of people who already know that stuff! You can't alter history to appease Scottie. Millions of us already knew Scottie delayed his surgery "so he didn't ruin his summer". We remember that stuff and Scottie doubled down on video anyway. Dude, if you don't want people to notice you did something purposely manipulative and selfish, don't double down HARD on video about it! When you basically brag about fking over your team ON VIDEO, guess what, someday people might see that video and feel some kinda way about it! Once again, he does things that would draw criticism if ANY player did those things, and then expects those things to be ignored. He has a particular talent for self-sabotage...since way back. Since signing the contract that Jerry Rhinesdorf warned him not to sign because he would come to regret it...then he does come to regret it and gets mad at everyone else? It's a pattern. Its unfortunate.

When that incident happened when Phil called a play to go to Kukoc instead of Scottie, and he reacted that way, that ended the narrative of people saying MJ needed Scottie to win. He wasn’t a clutch player. My opinion, i thought the narrative should’ve ended when Scottie had the migraine in game 7 vs Detroit, then years later when MJ had food poisoning, you seen how he performed. But Scottie was always an insecure player. Even when MJ came back, Phil would go to Kukoc in clutch situations and MJ was ok with it because he wasn’t an insecure guy. People always run to the 93-94 season and say that they didn’t need MJ to win because in 92-93, the Bulls won 57 games with MJ, and won 55 games in 93-94 without MJ. But they leave out that in 90-91, the Bulls win 61 games and the championship, in 91-92, the Bulls won 67 games and won the championship, so when 92-93 came, MJ and Scottie was coming off of 2 championships, and the 1992 Olympics so they coasted through that season and won their third straight championship. And in the 1993 offseason, MJ retired, and the Bulls brought in a lot of the role players that would later play big roles on the second 3 peat team like Steve Kerr, Toni Kukoc, and Luc Longley to spell the important role players on the first 3 peat team like BJ Armstrong, Scottie, Horace Grant, Bill Cartwright, John Paxson, etc. If MJ played in 93-94, that would’ve been their deepest roster because they had the best players on the first 3 peat team, and the best players on the second 3 peat team minus Dennis Rodman.

I looked up the salary cap change from 1984 till now and it is insane! I know cable news had a lot to do with it, and expanding the game globally, but the Jordan/Bulls effect has to be given a huge chunk of credit (along with Magic/Bird). 1984 - 3.6M 1994 - 15.9M 2004 - 43.8M 2014 - 63.1M 2024 - 141M projected That could be one source of Scottie's financial bitterness. But again, he should be proud to be a big part of getting more money in the pockets of players.

I can't believe this dude said that Steve Kerr, who barely played and only took a few shots, was one of the players that made the Bulls a stacked team. This lets u know this dude only mentioned Kerr because he coaches the Warriors! Whoever this dude is, he didn't do any real research. He is just repeating what he heard on TV. Steve Kerr took about 3 threes per game and he hit 1 of course his percentage would be high. He wasn't even a starter he came off the bench to give Ron Harper rest that it. Steve Kerr would not be Steph Curry in today league he would still be coming off the bench. Also Kerr started his career in Cleveland and he was a bench warmer then. Mark Price was the star of that team. Looking at stats is not the best way to rate a players career numbers can be manipulated. You have centers who come in the game and make one shot and sit down with a 100% FGP, and that steve Kerr! Now his career has been overrated. Also that was the second 3peat Rodman, Kerr and Kukocs was not on the 1st 3peat. Also, when the debate between the LBJ and MJ started, Scottie first Said that LBJ was better than MJ, then he said MJ was better, and after that, he was constantly flip-flopping between he two until the last dance. In the scene where T-Mack was sipping that cup it was after Scottie Said that LBJ was better than MJ and that video was the first time he flip-flopped. The only reason he changed it was I think because alot of people got on his case for Picking LBJ over MJ! Scottie was slick, dissing MJ in the media long before the last dance. Also he mentioned the 10 million dollars MJ got from the Last Dance well it is well know that he donated the 10 million to charity MJ did not pocket that money. IF Scottie is simultaneously the most underrated and overrated player does that mean he is rated right where he belongs! It cancel each other out u can't be both. Like other people have said MJ was not paid 30 million dollar through the entire 90s. It was only the 96-97 and 97-98 seasons. MJ was the greatest player in the NBA, and he was highly underpaid before the 96-97 season. No matter how many championships MJ won, Jerry Reindorf did not change or alter MJ's contract until it was up and he renegotiated. So if Jerry wasn't going to change MJ contract who is the GOAT why would he change Scottie Contract? Also, Scottie's final season in the NBA was with the Bulls in 2003, and Scottie got overpaid for being a Benchwarmer. The Bulls made up for underpaying Scottie in 2003! Scottie got paid more than MJ from the Bulls! I wish people would stop believing this lie because of the poor Scottie BS. FYI The I Take the Trophy, u take the Truck was in the 1997 NBA finals, not 1991

Scottie wanted his new contract money asap for his family and then he wanted more when he played above his pay grade. The Bulls' owner and his agent tried to change his mind but with no luck. It sucks that Scottie was so desperate. Contracts almost never get amended in pro sports, especially in the Bulls' organization. I have a bit of empathy for Scottie. His massive family was living in poverty and his father couldn't speak, walk or work. Scottie also doesn't have much of an education and players, in his time, were going broke all over the place. Few had trusted financial management. Scottie buying a jet (that was never checked and didn't even work!) is incredibly stupid but why would he know any better unless he had competent financial people around him. I'm sure Pippen believed that he had a ton more money on the way. Hell...I have a JD/MBA, from Northwestern, and I've made some dumbass mistakes in business. Obviously, they were different than Scottie's mistakes but they were still stupid AF on my level. For how awesome Scottie was as an NBA star and winner, things have not gone his way in life. I think he's filled with pain and regret. There are a lot of guys, from his time, that are crazy rich and they're easily set for life. Despite being a better player, Scottie probably isn't set for life and that must hurt like hell. I think Scottie could probably get back to financially stable if he stopped acting like a jealous crazy person. I have a lawyer friend who says he turns down 100k for hour long speeches because he doesn't think it's enough money. That's insane! I also don't think Scottie really dislikes MJ. Scottie wanted to sell "his" book and, whoever wrote it for him, suggested a "we'll sell more books if we hate on the GOAT" model. That fake hate and calling Jackson a racist backfired. People adore MJ! Scottie is/was liked too but he'll never succeed trying to bring down the best bball player ever! I'm no longer a Pippen Sr. fan although I hope he gets his life back in order. I'm pulling for Scotty Jr! He's probably loaning his father money or he will when he gets a nice contract as a very capable backup point guard. (only the 6th player with a triple double in the Summer League!) I bet he'll get 3 years, 18 million soon. Sorry for the crazy long comment.

Re: Scottie trying to sell books vs being deranged (or viciously spiteful) I think its both: There's no question Scottie needed money and the comments were too perfectly timed with the release of his book -- so I think the money motivation is a no brainer. However... ...the spiteful or deranged or spitefully deranged argument is partially true, too. Because some of the things he said were simply bizarre and extremely easy to completely disprove. For example, Scottie saying that young Michael Jordan was a "horrible player". Unfortunately for Scottie, Michael Jordan's early years are well documented on video! Scottie, we love you, but we've all seen the video! Before Michael Jordan ever knew Scottie Pippen existed, he was a top college player, he won a championship in college, he had all sorts of accolades at the college level, back when the Team USA consisted of college kids Michael was selected for the the Olympic team, MJ lead the Olympic team of college kids to 8 victories over the NBA All-Star team (including Bird, Magic, Isaiah Thomas, all the greats of the time), Michael lead team USA to a gold medal...my fingers are getting tired from typing all MJ's pre-scottie accomplishments and he hasn't set foot in the NBA yet! And I'm leaving a lot of stuff out....this is just off the top of my head! All of the above leads me to believe that Scotties motivation wasn't purely financial. Scottie knows everything I just wrote. And much more. I just wish Scottie knew how much we love him and I wish he cared about how much this nonsense hurts the millions of people who have loved him for years. Scottie and MJ stand like demigods in the hearts and minds of millions of people all over the world... I hope that Scottie can someday take strength and comfort from that love and appreciation because it is REAL. At the same time, I wish Scottie would return a modicum of that appreciation and stop cr@pping all over the love of the fans with foolish slander. He hurts everyone when he does that cr@p...including himself.

Then MJ returns and Scottie is back to being a sidekick. He then never reached any heights that Jordan did post Chicago. Then finally the doc comes out and shows the worst moments he had in his career. So yeah, I think he’s just a broken man. I hope he can get some sort of closure. Pippen had no choice but to sign the contract because of his father’s and brother’s health. Now expenditures AFTER the contract are no excuse BUT he kinda had no choice to sign the contract. Scottie has a bitter and jealous attitude and THAT is the enemy that has him where he is NOW. It’s like the actor Stephen Dillane as Harry Vardon in The Greatest Game Ever Played said “In the end there are two kinds of players…those who keep their nerves under control and win championships and THOSE WHO DO NOT!!” Scottie fell under the 2nd fiddle category

He was willing to take less to have more assurance, and the other decisions were much worse. At least with the Bulls contract, he was basically guaranteed to find success on the court and to have a legacy. Phil Jackson is not a racist based on him giving Kukoc that last shot. Michael Jordan was obviously the driving force for the Bulls had Championship success, but the Bulls starting with Scottie Pippen, Horace Grant, Dennis Rodman and to a lesser extent Toni Kukoc were essential to those Bulls teams. Scottie was also mad about signing that deal that he actually signed himself. So that was nobody elses fault, but I get why he did it. I do feel that Jordan's financial success made Scottie (undeservedly) resent him. Scottie made bad decisions and is blaming and lashing out at everyone. That said, Scottie Pippen was one of my favorite players growing up. He really needs to get help and to get it together, but it may be too late.

You can always give better contract to employee. Period. But yeah, buying jet doean't help either. You can see difference in mind with MJ and Pip. You can't go into MJs world with your paycheck

Scottie still made more from the nba than jordan did. Jordan was just good with his money and had endorsements while Pippen was buying jets and expensive cars. Probably should've invested some of it. I wish him the best and i hope he gets help.

We must very close in age. I felt the same way about Pippen. I watched The Bulls for MJ and Pippen grew on me to point where i liked him almost as much and had a Pippen Jersey before MJ. Its why i have mixed feelings about Pippen now. It's hard to say how good Pippen would have been without MJ after what we know now but still , they made the prefect backcourt and i could see why Pippen is sick of being the called the Robin and as far as i know was what started that pop culture reference , ( i do not know for sure on that). Also even though he was the prefect " Robin" he wasn't viewed as the second best player behind MJ when he played and i could see in his head how that would be weird since Pippen was a large part of The Bulls run. Plus i think his MJ slander started out from him being sick of people only wanting to tall to him about MJ , i think its why he has flip flopped on the topic as well. People forget he was there for all 6 as well and yeah.

That last point makes a lot of sense to me. I think you're right. People did only wanna ask him about MJ. That had to get old. I was born in 82 btw.

Not sure people forget Pippen was there for all 6...we all know. We also know in '98 Pippen was a glorified decoy or not on the floor at all for quite a bit of those finals. With that said, no true Dynasty Bulls fan undervalues Pippen -- we loved Scottie and still do.

Yeah. But still, at the end of rhe day he earned more money playing basketball than MJ did. MJ made his money elsewhere with business and ads then investing. Scottie made a lot at the end. I wish he made better choices.

18:28 steve kerr was money of the bench, but do you know who else was an automatic bucket of that bulls bench? Jud Buechler. He didn't play big minutes but every single time, I mean EVERYTIME he checked into the game he'd nail a 3ball from the baseline. Other teams just had to know Jud was only in there for that shot, but they couldn't stop him. He drain 1, maybe 2 trays and dip back to the bench😂.

Of course i know Jud! He was our secret favorite player lol. During blowouts he would crush it on the second unit. Hit those 3s then raised his arms up high like he just won a championship lol. Those were good times. Randy Brown was a beast on defense too.

Half the people if that had happened to them that happened to Scotty they would be in prison or dead and if he needs help everyone else does too think about his life and how he was torn apart every time he got good luck he had two stages of bad luck he needed the money at the time because his family was in medical trouble yeah he screwed himself but he had a hell of a lot of help on the way

His story is definitely unique. Literally watching episode 2 of the last dance right now where it starts out with him explaining the poverty he was born into. I think he did the right things early on. It was later on when he got paid big bucks that I wish he was more responsible with his money.

I’m from Chicago and I estimate vehicles for a living for over 35 yrs. I went to City Chevrolet to write an estimate and he was there. He was so rude when my boyfriend tried to tell him he was one of his favorite players that I cursed him out and told him to take his backwoods ass back to where he came from and chew straw. One of the service reps thanked me and said they’ve all wanted to do that for so long. He then told me they had been giving him free corvettes and he’d totaled two and was there to get another one. That was the kind of person Scottie was. FACTS

I think your Perspective is from a juvenile standpoint I don't understand why you play Curry so much favor to another adult if you're an adult. His life has no effect on yours. You should feel. As bad as you do. I don't understand that from a child not from an adult
