I’m glad she had a good experience filming Clueless. Maybe it’s because it was a female-led operation but she just seemed happier & probably felt safer. Cher was a solid character.

Imagine getting dressed up in a lovely white dress for an awards show, feeling happy, leaving your home, feeling pretty within yourself, only to read a scathing article about your weight afterwards. She was a maturing young woman and getting curves in all the right places. Her figure looked absolutely fine!

I'm so impressed with how calm and collected she was during those interviews. Broke my heart when she said "I'd like to eat a meal without running to my car and I'd like to just pet my dogs". She was a KID. Hollywood sucks ass. And she was not fat - what horrendous people to go after a kid like that!

She is a committed animal rights activist, runs her house on solar, has an organic garden and a bunch of rescue dogs. She has her own line of vegan supplements through Garden of Life. I don't think her life is tragic at all. It is actually empowering, she had the opportunity to slim down and become a super star but chose instead to chase after a life she really wanted.

UGH poor girl's career started during the era of the industry being run by a hotbed of disgusting, predatory, manipulative men. Alicia was and is absolutely beautiful. I think it's important to point out that Alicia had a lot of things in her life that she cared more than being an actress, and that is part of the reason her career "failed", as some people might say. Once she got pregnant she chose to step away from her career, because she wanted to be a full time mom. Also, she is a vegan and has always been very involved with the activist community.

So what I’m getting is her authenticity is what lead to her down fall, that she was honest about her feelings and didn’t project the perfectionist ideal movie stars do now

She was literally used and abused by adults. I have always liked her since Clueless. I feel bad she had to go through all that.

I’m astonished she’s only one year older than me. As a kid, I thought she was like ten years older! And I didn’t know what an amazing person she is. I agree with her 1,000% regarding modesty and imagination. I wish there were many more people like her in Hollywood protecting young female actors.

I was a kid when Alicia rose to fame, and absolutely nobody had a problem with what the industry did to her at the time. I don't even have any recollection of Jim Carrey mauling her onstage at the MTV awards. It didn't make the news. Sometimes it feels like we have so much work to do, but then videos like these remind me of how far we have come already. If JC did that today, he likely would never work again.

The 90's & early 2000's were fucking WILD. The way the media literally just tore into young women's bodies was unbelievable. The devastating impact it had is immeasurable. They did it to Britney, too. Especially after her Gimme More performance at the VMAs. Alicia didn't deserve the hate she received. She's amazing for calling it out, too. Such a beautiful, talented woman.

If anyone is into horror movies she’s in two recent ones called The Lodge and Killing of a Sacred Deer, I thought both were excellent. She’s not the lead but it made me so happy to see her in some cool creative films still doing her thing.

i would love to see alicia silverstone have a comeback movie. she recently had small roles in killing of a sacred deer and the lodge and while her screentime was limited in both those films, her performance was very memorable in both.

Wow, I never had any idea people were so critical of Alicia. I loved everything about her. I didn't care one bit what she weighed. I loved that she seemed socially conscious and cared about people and animals.

That kiss is CRAZY because I saw a reel on fb about a man kissing Cameron Diaz that way and when Jim Carrey walked up on stage after winning the award the man and Diaz were announcing, he kisses the man and everyone in the comments made it seem like Carrey was doing that as a "I'll show you" thing to the man to stand up for Diaz....must be an award show thing but really gross and so happy young actors and actresses aren't subjected to those things as much nowadays

It's so sad that she was bullied for gaining weight as she transitioned into an adult when its natural but at the same time it's comforting that she wasn't starving herself to fit a standard. i remember watching clueless as teenager and my body looking like hers and i felt so confident and i thought i looked good in everything and now in my early twenties i compare what i used to look like and feel insecure but i'm healthy and i should embrace it.
