I hadn’t heard about this tragedy at all. I feel so bad for the family. He had a promising career and life ahead of him. I’m so annoyed at these trigger happy cops and assuming neighbors who do t know nothing.

Possession of a fire arm in your home in not a crime. This cop is a clown as most are. As an army vet we are trained uniformed processionals as cops are. We don't get to use "afraid for my life". We are responsible for every round out our weapon. Or face ucmj or the world courts. A hero killed by a coward. Smh if u scared how are u a hero? 🤷🏾‍♂️

The officer Duran was just fired. It was stated that the department determined that there wasn't any threat to the officer. Now we have to see if the DA will charge him with something.

Such a bright light and beautiful soul taken by a tyrant. And hearing his murderer describe him as a monster is even more heartbreaking 💔

This story enrages me. It took awhile before I actually sat down to review the details. No other channel has broken this down the way you have and I love the context of all of your videos. You give us an inside of their lives. But this hurts me to my core. Not only was he close in age to my own young adult son but just around the world how many times have we seen cops called and the go to the wrong house or it’s a misleading call and the person house they go too they kill? This has happened so many times. It does make you fearful to be in your own home. I recall cops being called in our neighborhood and they didn’t know where to go, they knocked on all the houses. We didn’t answered because we were sound to sleep. But a day later they were back needless to say it was my neighbors, domestic dispute, just so happen a white couple. But it’s scary how the police will have the wrong house and knock on your door and kill you because of how they feel. I hate neighbors sometimes because many of the innocent killings are caused by them. They don’t be concerned with the real stuff like being neighborly. Half of your neighbors don’t like to speak but yet you so called concerned and one wrong call to the police will get me killed. It’s sad!

I have feeling someone set him up, that video was beyond disturbing - it was very much an ass*ssination and that "concerned neighbor" needs to be charged as well! RIP Mr. Fortson, justice needs to be served immediately!!

What kind of procedure is to knock on someone's door, don't mention who you are, and then knock again, and then loudly announced who you are? Anyone would be startled by a random knock at the door and no one announcing who they are initially. I don't know why they think that's a good procedure to go about things that way. I feel like if you're a police officer and you're scared to die or take a shot, that you shouldn't sign up for the job because putting someone else's life in danger based upon your own alleged "fear" is crazy.

RIP MR. MAKE IT HAPPEN. im in the same position. enlisting at the end of the year. this story hit me hard as in im one year older than him. god bless his siblings😊

So sad to say, a similar incident just happened back in my home town Springfield Illinois July 6th. Her name is Sonya Massey. From what I understand, she herself called the police to her home for safety concerns and the responding officer shot and unalived her upon arrival in her home. Her family is currently trying to get the body cam footage released 😢

The words I want to say would get my account suspended. The video is clear as day. They better press charges or face a riot. I’m a cop kid & I know overkill when I see it. Even my dad say cops are supposed to shoot to disarm. The gun wasn’t even up. Poor guy never had a chance. That dumbass was “so concerned” but couldn’t be bothered to get the right information.

I also hope the family goes after this apartment complex for weaponizing the police against this young man, 😢In my apartment complex, there is a female police offers that moonlight as a security guard that don't never do anything but get free rent. She put a note on my door telling me never to park on the grass. I took the note along with her police Issued card and carried it back to her apartment and told her if she ever do something like that again I was going down to the police department and make a complaint against her. Now I parks on the grass whenever I want to and she say nothing..

One of the biggest shifts in our society regarding law enforcement was when they started training civil servants with the same training they give military personnel. There is also a large market for used military equipment & a lot of it ends up with police depts. The problem with this is that the military & local police depts are meant to do two very different things. They need to start training officers doll to do some more ninja moves to get out of the way or something. Being trained to empty 6 bullets immediately into “a threat” is military not civil police. The police dept where I live is progressive & they understand that on every field you have to review your “best practices” from time to time. They have implemented less lethal options like bean bag guns, stun guns & other things like that. They have been laughed at a bit, but they have also successfully used those things. This is hard to watch. I understand that the officer had the wrong house & thought they were going into save a woman, but maybe there could have been survival if it had just been one shot. There needs to be less excessive mess in the training. I think a middle ground can be found, humans are incredibly innovative.
