What an absolute tragedy that so many died so young. The saddest thing is what may have been.

I think it was a great compromise to use ‘Known unto God’ one one side, and ‘He is all of them and he is one of us’ in the other.

I'm an atheistic Buddhist, but I'm glad they kept Known Unto God. It's important to the families and soldiers who were religious, but I'm also glad they added the line from Keating's speech for those who are not or belong to other faiths.

The US Unkown soldier from Vietnam was later identified through DNA analysis and subsequently buried in a marked grave in Arlington. He was replaced by another unknown. There is a really interesting RU-vid piece on the tradition of the guards who "walk the mat" at the Tomb in the US which is fascinating. Thank you to all Aussies, known and unknown, for your great sacrifices, they will never be forgotten!

We remember the ones That laid down their life. So that we can live free. There is no greater gift. Like or not, This Spirit is the soul of a nation. Those that made such sacrifices, are the greatest friend you never knew.

I am very grateful even as an atheist that the Australian people got together and said enough is enough we are not changing that!!! Known unto God! That's a wonderful part of this story also. No more changing history.

So I’ve actually been here my boyfriends Australian and I went to visit him one year and we went here on World War I remembrance day and it was so beautiful and sad at the same time they had all these like handmade poppies in the ground and his uncle‘s name is on the wall .. great uncle really it was soo cool tho would highly recommend you guys go if you ever got the chance 🤤😍🥺 best day with bae ever and there’s a really good café nearby. One of the best days I’ve ever had I mean yeah is incredibly sad but it was also fun and interesting to the extend that sad event could be u know ? Also the line was super long so be prepared! I’m just amazed at like how many Australians take like World War I remember day and things like this seriously where in the states we don’t really care.

I recently brought a large, brass -bound family Bible from a Charity Shop. In it were two photographs ... of men who had died in WW1. I'm an atheist ... I study the Bible as a work of literature ... but these photographs have me wondering?

I would have thought the Australian unknown soldier's nickname might be "Bruce" (pronounced "Brice")?

I don't think Known unto God should have been removed, and not just because Rudyard Kipling was responsible for the words, but because every soldier, be they Australian, British, Canadian, went to war with a bible, in many cases, that bible gave them faith, strength and comfort. The words were straight and to the point, we of course, cannot over look the point that most politicians think they are God anyway, and they know everyone. If it's not broke, don't fix it

A beautiful docu. I only wanted to coment on the "only known to god" , we must never forget that the heroes who gave their live where believing in god. I think , but thats my personal opinion that remoeving that would not give them right.

I don’t appreciate that Timeline has added these History Hits advertisements with Dan to all their videos and I am considering canceling my subscription since I pay extra for Premium RU-vid to avoid ads. I am not interested in Dan’s new channel and I consider his ads a waster of my time and am offended that they have gotten around the removal of ads to Premium subscribers by adding ads at the beginning of every video. Sure, I can and do fast-forward past Dan, but I don’t appreciate it and therefore every video, regardless of quality of content, will get a thumbs down from now on.

As the saying goes, there are no atheists in a foxhole.
